My friends and I spent a wonderful weekend at this beautiful home. It was clean and well-appointed with all the amenities one might possibly require. The downstairs living area was open and bright, and the balcony opening off this space had a lovely view, where we spent a lot of time. The upstairs master bedroom was comfortably appointed, and the master bath was luxurious with a garden tub and walk-in shower. Having a washer and dryer in the upstairs utility area was a big plus for our stay. The bedroom with the bunk-bed arrangement is ideal for families with children.

The grounds were well-maintained and the walk to the beach took just a few minutes. It has been many years since I had been this far west on the island and I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the beaches are. There were very few people on the beach besides ourselves, and the beachfront is far superior to the eastern end of Galveston. Our dogs enjoyed the morning walks especially.

The Tates are excellent hosts and made certain that everything was as we anticipated. We will definitely travel this way again!

The only bit of advice I might offer is to be sure and stock up on food and drink before you drive out. The nearest large grocery store is about 20-30 minutes away. The peaceful surroundings you will find here more than compensate for the drive.

The house is beautifully maintained and clean. We cooked and grilled all weekend. The beach is a 3 minute walk. It is breathtaking and so much better than the beach at the wall. We didn't use the pools because we had such a good time on the beach; building castles, playing in the waves, boogie boarding, and searching for crabs and seashells. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because of the mosquitoes that hung out around the cars and under the bridge walkway waiting for us. Once you got to the beach or the upper level of the house everything was perfect. I would definitely do this again.

We enjoyed our stay in Galveston. The house was just as it was pictured which was comfortable and lovely. The beach was clean and you could walk for miles, our dog loved it! The club house on the property had a pool and a snack bar that is open for dinner on the weekends till 8:00. We would stay here again. Thanks for making our long weekend fun!

This is a very nice beach house with extra nice furnishings, definitely on the high end of what you find in beach rentals on Galveston. I have stayed many places in Galveston, and this house would be one of my top picks for families or couples looking for a beach-focused vacation.

The House – This is a very nice, clean, very well set up house. The house is just the other side of the cul-de-sac from the beach, and it is a very easy, short walk to the dune walkover. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, and the storage closet has plenty of beach toys. Having a washer and dryer on-premise is a huge plus. Upstairs, the master bedroom is fairly large for a beach house, and opens out to the top balcony. The master bath boasts a walk-in shower with a garden tub. The 3rd bedroom upstairs is perfect for kids with dual bunkbeds and a TV/DVD unit mounted to the wall. Overall, the house is really fantastic.

The Beach - The beach is the primary attraction at Pointe West. The house has a partial view of the ocean from the south end of both of the large balconies, which is nice - but don't expect a full beachfront view, only the smaller bedrooms with average-size windows face the ocean. That said, because it is very easy to walk to the beach we didn’t find that to be an issue. The quality of the beach in the Pointe West area is very good, comparable to South Padre or the gulf side of Florida, and much, much better than what you will find closer to the main city of Galveston.

Pointe West Beach Club - The key thing to understand is that this is NOT a resort atmosphere. There is no swim-up bar, DJ, water volleyball, waiters, etc. The Pointe West beach club is a quiet, simple pool area. It DOES have very pretty infinity pool with a waterfall that spills down into a children’s splash area. Note that NONE of the pools at Pointe West are heated, and this kept a lot of guests out of the pool. There is a heated Jacuzzi tub, however. Food and drink at the restaurant and bar are nothing special. The “lazy river” at the bay club is the smallest that I’ve seen and also not heated, so we didn’t even try it.

The Area - Be aware that Pointe West is about a 20-30 minute drive from the main part of Galveston. The upside is the huge, clean, nicely groomed, beach with very few people on it, especially during the week. The downside is a fair bit of a drive to a real supermarket, or any kind of nightlife or fine dining.

We stayed for about 5 days and the house was perfect for our needs. We went to the Beach Club, Moody Gardens and the rest of the time on the beach. Everything was exactly how it was pictured, even the beach was clean! Definitely would recommend this to my friends and family. Thank you Maggie, we loved your house!

You can look out the front window and see the waves from the Gulf. The sunset view from the back porches are amazing !! The owners were very accommodating. We towed our personal golf cart, and took long sightseeing drives on the beautiful property. We spend a number of hours at the Beach club swimming in the beautiful pool, and hours sitting on the beach. This is our second visit to Pointe West and we loved it, again ! Be prepared to bring your own food to cook, or drive 20 minutes or so to a restaurant. Personally, we needed the peace and quiet. Galveston proper is just too crowded.
