IN THE HEART OF ROME. Located on Via della Mercede, between the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps Apartment is a luxury two bedroom, two bathroom apartment surrounded by fine dining and fabulous shopping and within walking distance of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and many other historic sites and museums, as well as the subway, taxi stands, bus stops, and bike rental. Located in a traditional Roman palazzo, the Spanish Steps Apartment was completely remodeled and furnished in late 2010 and is now available as a self-catering apartment.

ALL THE COMFORT OF A LUXURY PRIVATE HOME: The Spanish Steps Apartment is spacious (1,100+ square feet), elegant and comfortable apartment consisting of a large and bright living room, separate dining room, large bedroom with new king-size bed, second bedroom with two new twin beds, one bathroom with tub/shower, second bathroom with small glass shower, and fully equipped kitchen. The large bedroom also has a sofabed in case two people want to share the room but not share the king-size bed. The apartment has double pane windows to keep it quiet and beautiful wood floors, and is decorated with high-end contemporary furniture and art.

About David Colin

I was born and raised here in Rome. In the late 1960's, my father was one of the founders of the American University of Rome (AUR), and, indeed, the apartment was the administrative office and classroom (and impromptu party space) for AUR over a number of years. So, the apartment has been in my family for over 40 years. Although I now live near Washington, DC, where I am an economist, I come back to Rome as often as possible. Despite all my time here, Rome continues to be a fascinating city that always has more to offer. I hope you find the Eternal City as welcoming and wonderful as I do.

Upon booking, I will send you a detailed information package on the apartment, the neighborhood, restaurants, and sights. We offer complimentary airport arrival pick-up for our guests, and an English-speaking guest services manager will meet you at your arrival. Linens, welcome snacks and beverages, utilities, wifi, taxes, check-in/check-out, and end of stay cleaning are all included in the price. Additional car service or cleaning/linens can be arranged.

In the heart of Rome's Historic Center, just around the corner from the famous Spanish Steps, this spacious two bedroom, two bathroom apartment is surrounded by fine dining and fabulous shopping. Luxurious and amazing location

We came to Italy for our 30 year anniversary, and this place was the nicest places that we stayed at, it had all of my creature comforts that I am used to from living in the US and then some. The beds are super comfortable with a high quality thread count linins and beautifully decorated rooms. They even provide you with robes. This apartment has it all, they have truly worked hard to make this nice for the traveler with maps, directions,even someone to greet you or pick you up from the airport. We would refer anyone to this place. I am a vacation rental owner and know how much they must work to keep such a nice place up. Thanks again love it!!! Grazie mille David

Excellent in every way

We had a great time in Rome, the apartment was perfect, in fact the best one we have rented in the many years we have visited Rome. Everything clean and very comfortable. Rosie was very helpful to us on our departure as the Rome marathon was on and transport was difficult.

We will certainly use your apartment again when visiting Rome, hopefully, the next time with our luggage which we are still waiting for BA to track down!

Fantastic apartment

Perfect!

This was our first visit to Rome, and we loved the Spanish Steps apartment - it is beautifully renovated and could not be in a more ideal location. David, the owner, does an outstanding job of providing information about area, including "off the beaten path" sights that might otherwise go unnoticed. Also, his directions are impeccable, included estimated time to travel. So often "5 minute walk" turns into a 20 minute journey - not the case here. But if you want a taxi, there are two stands only a few minutes away.

We were picked up at the airport and met at the apartment by Rosie. She's great! She helped us orient ourselves to our location with a map, showed us around the immaculate apartment, and went our of her way to assist us when we left.

There are quite a few restaurants in the area; we enjoyed Pizza Cero several times and made friends with the manager there - with two 18yr old boys the reasonable prices and great food were why we had repeat visits.

This apartment would work well for just about anyone who wants to be in the heart of Rome. The only exception would be if you wanted to do a lot of cooking - the kitchen has top notch appliances but it is tiny with little storage (except for in the fridge). It works well for a quick breakfast, snacks, or maybe some pasta, but anything elaborate would be tough. Just go to Pizza Cero instead, or pick up take-away at the supermarket!

We have re-organized the kitchen and purchased a small cabinet for the dining room for china storage, so that frees up some shelves in the kitchen for food storage. We hope this makes use of the kitchen easier.

A week stay in February

We stayed in this apartment for a week with my family and loved it. The location is very central, walking distance to mostly all mayor sights.
The apartment was spotless and roomy, the heating and showers were very good (it was very cold those days!) We enjoyed also the little details such as having bath robes, guide books, umbrellas and movies on Rome.
David and the people from the manager office in Rome were very nice and helpful, we had a wonderful time and highly recommend staying there.

Warm, comfortable, perfect location ...and snow!

We had a great time in Rome and in the Spanish Steps Apartment. The snow was magical … The apartment was great, very comfortable, perfect location. We would love to return when again in Rome. Many people were complaining about lack of good heating in apartments and hotels. We can say that the Spanish Steps [Apartment] was as warm as we wished. Thank you David!

Wonderful Apartment - Terrific Location!

Our family of 2 adults and 2 teens stayed over the Christmas holiday week at the Spanish Steps Apartment and it was great! Roomy, comfortable, well-appointed, and centrally located to walk/metro/taxi anywhere in Rome. Two baths met our needs and the full kitchen was a real bonus! Loved the neighborhood, just off the beaten path of touristy Spanish Steps - what fun!

Perfect in location and accomodation

The apartment was perfect in location and accomodations. Our friends in Rome were jealous of the space. So, thank you for sharing with us your luxury Roman apartment that has permitted us a wonderful week vacation where we can walk everywhere and see most of what Rome has to offer including some nearby places we would not not have seen if we stayed somewhere else.
