Two wonderful weeks in Rome
Two weeks in Rome, just enough time to get know the city so well we didn´t need a map in every corner. No hurry, long mornings, naps in afternoon...and still we saw and experienced very much. Every part of Rome is different and on foot we "get lost" in places and lanes which are not mentioned in quidebooks. History is everywhere. Many old "stories" become alive. But it doesn´t matter if you don´t know excatly who, what, when...sometimes it´s enough you feel it.
We enjoy everyday life, also when we are abroad. That´s why we wanted a "home" also in Rome. Tiziana wellcomed us to a sunny, spacious, tidy and cosy appartment in Ruggero Bonghi. Everything was in good order, just cloths to a closet and roman life could start. The location is very good. The street is very peaceful ( quiet at night )and yet main streets with shops and buses are close. We bought vegetables, fruits, bread, cheese, meat, vine...in small shops along Merulana (best tomatoes from Frutteria, meat from Virgilio, bread from Panarte...).
Near Ruggero Bonghi there are many sights ( Colosseum. Laterano, Santa Maria Maggiore, Santa Prassede, Palatino.... ). The part of Colle Oppio near RB is nice and peaceful also in the evenings.
Number 714 to Termin, 3 to Trastevere... although we walked a lot we used buses, trams and metro also. It is easy (many good busroutes through Via Merulana and Via Labicana) and cheap. By Cotral (local buses) we visited Tivoli (Ville d´Este) and by local train we went to Frascati (nice town in Roman hills, good wines). We recommend to buy week-ticket and a good map with bus/tram/metro-numbers. With these it is easy to visit many placies during a day. But be careful in crownded buses, we "lost" a mobile.
We had a wonderful holiday in Rome and "home" in RB was part of that. It will stay in our memories.

Ps. If you like to have a dinner near "home" New Baia Chia in Via Machiavelli is a good alternative. A nice restaurant with tasty food and friendly service.
