As you probably already know, Big Canoe is located in the foothills of the North Georgia Appalachians, so driving up to where we spent our Thanksgiving holiday proved to be very exciting right from the start. After entering Big Canoe through the guarded security gates, a winding road led us through magnificent forests and beautiful valleys as it steadily climbed upward to near the top of one of the highest points in the area. The view from the top was spectacular and it almost took our breath away with all its beauty. Deer and wild turkeys are plentiful in the area so don’t be surprised if you spot some as you drive along. The home we stayed in was located at the end of a long driveway and a big porch that runs across the front of the house seemed to bid us a very warm welcome as we arrived.
The home itself is on three levels and it is plenty large enough to accommodate a large family of up to 18 to 20 people. There were two wood burning fireplaces that we enjoyed relaxing around since there was a little chill in the air at the time we were there. A large country kitchen, comfortable beds, two large decks overlooking the mountains and much, much more. Actually, if you can imagine something that you feel you might want or need, it is probably already there for you. Two large flat screen HD television sets connected to satellite, wireless connections throughout the home for those bringing laptops or iPads with them, a fantastic stereo sound system. Need I go on?
The house is in excellent condition and it has been beautifully furnished and maintained by the owners. For my family, our time spent at Big Canoe was simply fantastic. We can’t wait to go back again and I’m sure that you will feel the same if you are fortunate enough to spend a few relaxing days there sometime soon.
