wonderful, affordable, 2 min walk to Kihei beach

Stayed here for a week in early June, and really enjoyed this cozy little condo.
Pro:
- Very clean, tidy
- Totally dig the novels and guide books left behind by other tenants
- has all the amenities you'd need for a comfy short-term stay in Maui; Towels, boogie boards, coolers, dishes/cookware, even spices! Just bring your suitcase and buy some soap, shampoo and sunscreen at Walmart on your way from airport to the condo.
- Complex has 1 parking spot, also nice electric grill, and pretty clean pool. The condo has a full size stove so you can cook every night if you want to
- Has a little lanai in the back so you can dine indoors or outdoors
- Mac and Maria (owners) were friendly, easy to deal with. My 1st renting a condo directly from owners, and I was 100% satisfied.
- Super convenient. Can walk to a great beach (just down the block), Foodland supermarket (5-10 min), restaurants/cafes, shops to get souvenirs. Kihei is a pretty lively strip, with lots of vacation rentals and tourists. Also Kihei is pretty central to all the highways, so you can take a short drive to all the cool Maui spots - Lahaina, Wailea, Road to Hana, Upcountry, etc.
Cons (note that many of these are beyond the control of the owners. I think they did a fantastic job making this place homey and comfy):
- A bit noisy. The complex is located a block from the major road (S Kihei Rd), but it's so quiet in Maui that you can hear everything, esp at night. Things also start early in Hawaii so at 6 am, you hear trucks, motorcycles, cars, etc, so it was hard to sleep in. Because the condo is on ground fl, you can hear some foot traffic and doors slamming. Most neighbors were friendly and considerate, but don't expect this place to be completely absent of noise.
- Kihei is kind of campy and touristy. My bf and I were looking for a more "local/Hawaiian" feel, and this town is just not it. Tons of tourists and Mainlanders on vacation. But I guess if we stayed in Hana, we wouldn't be this close to a huge super market. Thank goodness that Maui is small enough so we took plenty of day trips to find good local spots.
- This place is perfect for a single person or a couple. You really can't fit more in here, unless it's a small baby/child with own crib. The bed was really comfy, but it's only a full size :( I wish it was a queen bed!
Overall, I'd recommend this place for its value, cleanliness, and convenience to the beach and other regions of Maui

Owner's Response: 1st off, thank you Graciete for the kind review. We strive to make our guests feel as comfortable as possible. The guide books and novels are left by us. We just ask our guests if they haven't finished a novel and want to take it with them that is fine. Just replace it with 1 you may have brought. Concerning the cons. Our website addresses the fact that this is a condominium. There is going to be other people and there is going to some noise to an extent. We have also informed our guest through our information pages that for the best beach time, snorkel time, and any boating activities, get out early! If you go in the afternoon, the trade winds normally kick up and it is time to leave the beach activities and find something else to do. So yes, there is a lot of activity early. Do you really want to sleep away your stay in paradise? Our condo IS on the bottom floor. We had another condo in another complex that was on the 4th floor. Even with an elevator, do you realize how may trips up and down the elevator to take a weeks ( or 2 weeks or a month ) worth of groceries, water, sodas, wine etc. etc. takes? Not fun! We LOVE the ground floor condo with our car less then 50 feet away from the front door. Yes, a little noise, but it's a condo! Most guests are out at night partying anyway. I know we are. Kihei has definitely gotten more crowded with mainlanders. But hey, meeting someone from Calif., Oregon, New York, etc. I think is kind of cool. Just like Mexico, if you want the culture and locals, you can go upcountry and be there in half an hour. Most guests drive up there but don't really mingle with the locals. As far as our condo and only 2 people, we do advertise that we recommend only 2 adults but......our condo is set up for 4 people and I don't know if Graciete realized but there is a full sized sofa bed in the front room. We have had numerous couples with 2 chidren ranging from toddlers to teens. We have also had 2 couples a few times stay there ( which we do not recommend ) to be able to afford the trip of a lifetime and told us they had a great stay and loved our condo. That being said, its all about enjoying yourself and having a vacation on paradise. I think our condo serves that purpose. The location is great. The weather is great. The people are great. What else would you want?? Aloha from Mac & Maria and I hope when you are looking for a place to stay you will consider our " little piece of paradise ". I don't think you will be disappointed.
