Lone Mountain Townhome Rental Photos and Description
2 bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen) , 1 bath, sleeps 6 (incl. 2 on living room sofabed)

This beautiful two bedroom flat is the perfect place to use as homebase for your San Francisco getaway. Mid-century and Danish modern furniture complements this 1940 flat. The living room features a fireplace, sectional sofa (which doubles as a sofa bed), 46 inch HDTV flatscreen TV, Roku media player & BluRay player, sitting area, and enormous view window looking out on the Sutro tower atop Twin Peaks. The dining room is the perfect place to sit down and recount the day's adventures over a meal prepared in the newly remodeled gourmet kitchen, cooked on the backyard grill, or delivered from any of the fine restaurants nearby. The ample bedrooms are each furnished with 32 inch flat screen HDTV televisions, Roku media players, as well as iPod docking clock radios. The house also features a rotating selection of local art & San Francisco themed displays.

The Home: Your home away from home in one of the most beautiful cities in the world includes a formal living room and formal dining room with seating for 6, newly-remodeled kitchen, two big light-filled bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen), and 1 bathroom with a tub and separate shower stall. The approx. 1375 sq. ft. architectural gem is in a two unit 1940’s style building, and features hardwood flooring, original art deco design details, and vintage furnishings. The bedrooms are located in the rear of the flat, overlooking the garden with a view of one of San Francisco’s oddball treasures, the Columbarium. The living room sofa also converts to a queen-size sleeper, if you are in need of extra space. There are public tennis courts and a swimming pool at the park across the street.

Golden Gate Park: The flat has a spectacular location: a 3 block walk leads to Golden Gate Park, including such sights as: the Conservatory of Flowers, Academy of Sciences, M.H. de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, and the Arboretum (Botanical Garden); as well as such activities as: a children-only playground, archery, biking and skating, golf, horseback riding, lawn bowling, tennis, fly-fishing, and plenty of spots for a wonderful picnic. The park is larger than New York's Central Park, and is covered with more than one million trees and contains its own herd of bison.

Transportation: No car is needed with this centrally located flat (it has a WalkScore of 94!). If you tire of walking, taxicabs are plentiful, and San Francisco’s public transportation system is easy and intuitive. Having a bus stop one block away from the flat makes travel to Ocean Beach, shopping downtown at boutiques or the mall, the Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. a snap. If you're coming for business or a convention, Express Bus service to Downtown operates morning & evening from one block away!

Finally, if you do bring a car there is abundant street parking, including some sections where you may leave a car parked for a full week without a permit. If you will be staying for an extended period, a temporary permit can be obtained – just ask!

SF made easy

I can not say enough about staying at this flat for the week. The experience was like actually living in SF, instead of feeling like a visiting tourist. It is close enough on foot to some of the attractions my husband and I wanted to explore (GG park, Japanese tea garden, Haight st) and public transportation was right around the corner for the attractions farther away. We only needed to rent a car once to get to Sausalito and Muir woods at our leisure. Oh, we took a couple of cabs while there and picked them up about a block away with out a problem too, which is a BIG plus as we are big city dwellers.
We were located smack in the middle of easy morning walks to coffee and breakfast, as well as a wonderful neighborhood with everything from Asian markets to Irish pubs!
On the few occasions we were too exhausted to go out for the evening, everything we needed to feel at home was available- what a great kitchen to cook in too! The flat itself is clean, inviting, and surprisingly got tons of sun, it's pretty amazing watching the night fog burn off in the wee morning hours.
I'm hard to please, ask anyone, but this flat was wonderful, we plan on making a return visit. Thanks again!

Charming flat perfectly located to enjoy city life

This wonderful apartment was clean and meticulously maintained. The photos are accurate but do not quite capture the charm of the modern, yet classically decorated flat. It is located near a San Francisco college and the neighborhood has a great vibe and lots of restaurants within walking distance. We were staying with another couple in San Francisco for a music festival in Golden Gate Park and we were able to park our car on the street and leave it parked all weekend. The owner lives in the building and was willing to offer suggestions for sightseeing and restaurants in SF. He was easy to get a hold of, communicate with, and was a wonderful host in general. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Home Away From Home!

My husband, daughter, son-in-law, and I spent one glorious week in San Francisco staying in this apartment. I titled this review "Home Away From Home" because the flat was so well appointed. Chris has put in all of the little "extras"--we felt at home. The flat is situated in a great area--easy access to almost everything. We rented a car--only had one parking problem during the entire week. Although I don't foresee our returning to San Francisco anytime soon, the four of us will certainly recommend this place to anyone headed there. Thanks again, Chris!

Owner's Response: Thanks Peg! I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation and the flat. If you ever do make it back, I'd love to have you.

I did want to note that Peg's parking issue occurred while out to dinner, and not at the house!

The best rule of City parking, San Francisco or otherwise, it that if you are at all unsure of a spot, find another. Parking around my house is easy, however there are plenty of neighborhoods where permits, meters, street sweeping, and commute hours all come into play. Careful inspection of the signs, the curb, and access to driveways is key!

The apartment fulfilled our expectations 100%. We felt at home at once in the clean, well-maintained apartment. The view, the light from the windows and the charming decoration is even more nice than you can see from the photos. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook, and the refrigerator was filled with drinks and snacks when we arrived - all included.
It is situated in front of a park in a very quiet street, but close to a neighbourhood with lots of good restaurants. The bus to downtown SF runs every 5 minute about one block from the apartment so we didn't need a car.
We can recommend the neighbourhood Ashbury-Heights within a walking distance if you like good tai-food, organic supermarket, stylish second-hand clothes and musicians in the street. If you like blues music, the Boom Boom Room in Philmore Street has a good athmosphere and is easy to reach by bus.
The owner provided a very good customer service being extremely helpfull and taking his time to answer all our questions about San Francisco.
There is no doubt that we will recomend this rental property to family and friends.
