Photos and Description of the Seattle vacation apartment rental
Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

This apartment is perfect for vacation or business travelers. It has two bedrooms, two baths, a nice living room and a fully functional kitchen. It can sleep up to six. There is a king bed in the master, a queen bed in the 2nd bedroom and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room.

St John’s was built in 1910. We find that people who love old houses really admire this place. It is a charming old building with hardwood floors and fancy period woodwork. There are twenty five apartments in the building on two floors, above retail businesses along Pike Street. #309 is on the top floor and has a great view down onto the street from both the living room and the master bedroom.

We've made it feel like home. The living room has a seven foot super comfortable couch, two stuffed chairs and a 37-inch LCD TV with DVD player. The apartment has wireless high speed Internet. It's a great place to visit and relax!

The second bedroom is in the middle of the apartment. It's window looks into a light well instead of down on the street. This makes that room the most quiet in the building. A couple of our guests have said that it was stuffy so we have a window fan there to take care of that.

The master bedroom is large and very comfortable. It has a great bed--a California King. The photos show the master with the old tube TV. We've switched that out now with a new Samsung 40' LED TV. And all TV's have Dish Network with hundreds of channels and HBO.

It's a great location but a busy neighborhood. That means that there's some street noise. There's lots of traffic out there, and at night there are lots of people around. We're really not in the center of Capitol Hill's super busy area, we're about 3 blocks away. But you'll hear people on the street sometime, talking and laughing, as they walk toward the amazing area. Capitol Hill has become Seattle's most fun, lively and growing area. Three blocks from us there are several blocks that are just filled with restaurants and bars. There's probably 40 of them within a 6 block radius. On weekend nights it's an amazing scene. There are literally hundreds, maybe thousands, of people on the streets. Even if you don't want to go in to any of the bars it is worth it just to come a watch.

One negative about Seattle: we have homeless people here. All big cities have homeless. It's very sad. Our last count (an annual event) we have about 3000 people living on the streets. Seattle has some very good and progressive programs in place to reduce homelessness, but right now there are lots of those people with no place to go. You will see them. Occasionally they will be outside the door to the supermarket, asking for change. We ignore them. Some people choose to give them money. We feel that it's best to give to organizations that use the money wisely. But of course that's your choice. We just want our guests to know that it's a busy neighborhood, filled with people, some very rich and some very poor. People who bring small children to Seattle from small towns without poverty may want to talk about this issue before you come.

About Oda Egeland

We have six short terms, and it is difficult to write six different descriptions of the owners, Mark and Oda. I assume you'll see our other listings, perhaps read the descriptions there, and you'll know lots about us. We have St. John's as an investment, but we're not big real estate investors, it's our only building. We've had a very good experience with it--the location is excellent and the people we've met here are wonderful. There's nothing not to be liked! It's a great neighborhood, vibrant, filled with things to do and places to go. It's much better than downtown Seattle, which closes up shop in the evening and has an empty, big tall buildings feel. Our area comes alive at night, filled with restaurants, bars and boutiques. It's like being in New York City or maybe Paris, except it's Seattle. Everybody's friendly here. That's why we bought the place, and that's why we love it!

Why Oda Egeland chose Seattle

RESTAURANTS: If you're new to the area you will be surprised by how many great restaurants there are within a few short blocks of St. John's. We have three in the building: The Other Coast Cafe features East Coast Style Sandwiches, St. John's Bar and Eatery is an American/bistro, and Ayutthaya is a Thai restaurant. All of these are great places! On our block there is yet another fun place for lunch-a sandwich shop called The Honey Hole. Heading toward Broadway, there is a Subway and the QFC Grocery Store. Once you get to Broadway there are restaurants in every direction, several to choose from, on every block. Without trying hard we could name 25 great eateries, all within a short walk. It's a diner's delight!

We had a great time! The apartment was wonderful. Comfortable beds, stocked kitchen, 3 TVs, and 2 bathrooms. Everything was clean and the music was nice. The street was noisy at night but I think any place in the city would be. It was a good location so we used the bus a lot. We did have a last minute car so thanks Johnny for accommodating us with a parking pass. Everyone we met was friendly and if we come back to Seattle we will definitely come back here. Thanks for a great experience!

We were here for a wedding and the apartment worked our great. We had everything we needed. Grilled out on the patio and was very convenient to everywhere we needed to go. We never needed a car at all. Johnny was there whenever we needed something or had a question. We will stay here again.

A wonderful place to stay after a fantastic cruise to Alaska. Loads of laughs and memories, and wonderul restaurants down this end. Last year we were in Seattle and stayed closer to Pikes Market. We are from N.Y. and like the change and just wish it was a little warmer. Love "The Pink Door" restaurant down by the market and love this apartment. Enjoy Life!!!

Six of us traveled to Seattle for a graduation celebration. Three from Allen, TX, Three from Sulphur, Louisiana. The weather was nice, all but one day. We went to the Market, Aquarium, Zoo and took a day trip to the Ocean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thanks in part to the wonderful little apartment. Johnny is the best! We'd love to come back!

It was a pleasure staying at St. John's in Seattle! The night life outside our bedroom window was just wonderful! And the bed was very comfortable. Look forward to staying here again next year and the year after. Thanks Johnny for everything!

2nd bed is a double NOT a queen and NO air circulation...

Good: Great location. Parking & grocery.
Bad: 2nd bed is only a Double... NOT a Queen. Description should be updated with correct info. Would not have considered it if we had known.
More Bad: No fans, no air circulation. Stiffling and we stayed in October! Put some fans in the ceilings, at least.
Owner's Response: This is our first and only negative review. It's hard to know how to respond! The bed is a Queen, for sure. A queen is 60" x 80" and that is the size of the bed. As for air circulation, there is a window in the bedroom and a window fan in the closet. Not everyone wants it, but it's there if someone does. Knowing that the bed IS a queen and the fan IS in the apartment, I only wish that our guest had said something when her party was at the apartment, so we could have done something then. Our manager, Johnny, who lives in the building, would have put the fan in the window for them. Oh well...please read our other reviews and you'll see, no one else has ever been unhappy at St. John's!

I suggest you go downtown to the markets, it’s really great! I also recommend a restaurant called “Boom Noodle” about 3 blocks up Pike (thanks for the tip, Johnny!). The hotel room is great! It’s nice and clean, lots of room, etc.
