We are just back from a 5 day break in this fabulous apartment and are already planning our next trip. It couldn't be more convenient. From Gare du Nord it was a direct metro ride and then a five minute walk. This was the same line for Montmatre (Sacre Coeur) and the mainline station for Versailles, so no changes at all. We were a ten minute walk from our apartment to the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay or Notre Dame. A little further to the Champs Elysee etc - we even walked to the Eiffel Tower through some lovely areas and we had a child with us. It's that central!

The apartment itself was contemporary, very comfortable and very clean. Our daughter slept on a top quality blow up bed in the lounge and our bed was huge and very comfortable. We cooked in the apartment a couple of times and the kitchen had everything we needed.

Laurent was fantastically helpful, not just showing us around the apartment but giving us advice on the best place to buy our bread and croissants, fresh shellfish, meats and wine. There's even a Carrefour supermarket selling everything you could need about five minutes from the apartment. He also gave us some top restaurant tips, but more importantly, called us up to check everything was okay, rather than just leaving us to our own devices. He's a real asset.

I don't mean to go over the top but we couldn't fault it. We even regarded the 79 steps up the apartment as a much needed bit of daily exercise, given the amount of lovely food and wine on offer!

We spent 7 nights in Paris and couldn’t have made better decision than to stay in Scott’s apartment in St-Germain des Pres! The apartment is modern, up-to-date, well-kept, clean and full of amenities that you’ll ever need during your stay. We brought our toddler and she even called it her “new home”.

Scott responded to all our emails and answered our questions promptly. He got us in touch with Laurent in Paris. We arrived in Paris around 11 AM and check-in time was 3 PM. Laurent met us at the apartment and let us drop our luggage while the apartment was being cleaned. He gave us plenty information to settle down and get around Paris. He was really helpful, polite, and even checked a day later to see if everything was okay.

The kitchen has stove, microwave, toaster, fridge, dishwasher. It’s fully stocked with all the pots and pans and dishes that you need to prepare any kind of meal. We used the kitchen to prepare our toddler’s favorite food to take along our daily trips. There’s a grocery store, Carrefour, 2 blocks away on Rue de Seine for anything that you need. The bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. There’s a full size washer in the bathroom. Since we knew we can wash our clothes, we did travel rather light than normal.

The apartment is perfectly located one block away from Seine River. It’s at the top-most floor in inner-most building within the complex, therefore very quiet, even though close to a major street. It’s within 15 minutes walk to all major tourist attractions Musee du Louvre, Jardin des Tuileries, Cathedrale Notre Dame, Jardin des Plantes, Le Pantheon, Jardin du Luxembourg, and Musee d’Orsay. The 2 nearest Metro stations are St-Michel and Odeon, which are about 5 minutes walking. From the Metro you can basically go to any destination in Paris.

There are 2 main areas for restaurants and cafés in the neighborhood. One is Rue St-Andres des Arts which is one block south of the apartment. The other is the block between Blvd St-Michel and Rue de Petit just south of Quai St-Michel.

We were glad we decided to rent this apartment on 20 Rue Dauphine. We could function normally as we would in our own home. The availability of internet connection let us plan our daily activities while we were there. I would totally recommend this apartment to anyone that plan to visit Paris. Maybe, the only drawback is the five flights of stairs you have climb to get to the apartment. It was not an issue for us, but maybe it will be for some others

My husband and I just spent 4 nights in this charming and comfortable apartment. The location is in the heart of the very happening Rue de Buci/Rue Mazarine section of St. Germain, with a wide variety of shops and galleries, buzzing cafes and a wide range of fabulous places to eat.

Most of Paris's major sites are within walking distance, and two metro stations are a short distance away.

You can really experience the life of a Parisian when you stay in this apartment, but still have all of the comforts of home. The place was immaculate, with fresh and tasteful furnishings and recently renovated bathrooms. Since it is on the top floor facing at the back of the courtyard, there is no street noise.

We would recommend this apartment for a couple or a family (max. 5 people). There is no elevator, so we would recommend packing lightly.

What a perfect place to stay for a week long vacation in Paris! We arrived the first day and were met by laurent at the corner cafe. He showed us up to the space and we felt very welcomed and at home from the very first minute.

The bedroom is beautiful, lofted above the living room. It has a view over the courtyard of the building and a skylight right above the bed. Beautiful master bathroom! Its a five minute walk from the louvre, great restaurants and Notre Dame. It was very easy to get off and on the subway to get to any part of the city. We couldn't have asked for anything more from the location, to the cleanliness of the apartment, also free calling to the U.S!

After extensive research, I found this apt online. It was clean, spacious, quiet, affordable, centrally located, & well-reviewed. I was looking for all those qualities & found them at this top floor apt on 20 rue Dauphine (5th floor). I stayed there for 7 nights, from May 12th to May 19th, 2010.
The listing description & pictures were accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, furniture, etc. The property was clean & well-maintained. The kitchen was well-stocked with plates, bowls, cups, glasses, cutlery, utensils, colanders, pots of various sizes, plastic containers for left-overs, microwave, dishwasher, etc. The bedroom was bright because of three skylights. It was wonderful & refreshing to wake up looking at the sky. Being on the top, the apt was quiet & the stairs provided great exercise.
The owner Scott Slater provided good customer service. He responded to my first online inquiry within hours. Afterward, he answered all my questions thoroughly. When I arrived, his friend, Laurent greeted me at the coffee shop across the apartment. Laurent showed me the apt in great details (how to use the gas stove, microwave, lights, heaters, skylight windows, TV, phone with free calls to the US, free wifi internet, etc.) He also informed me of a light & laser show at Pont Neuf on Fri, May 14th (Anniversaire de la mort d’ Henri IV sur le Pont Neuf et Square du Vert Galant). It was such a spectacular show, a highlight of my stay. Laurent checked on me via telephone 2 days later & the day before departure to make sure everything was fine. He emailed me helpful information before, during, & after the trip. He provided the best French hospitality.
The apt had great location. I took the RER B train from CDG to St Michel Notre Dame stop. Then I walked about 4 blocks to the apt. From the apt, Pont Neuf bridge & the Seine river were 1/2 block north; Notre Dame Cathedral, 5 blocks east; Louvre Museum, 3 blocks northwest; Luxemburg Garden, 6 small blocks south; Monoprix grocery, 6 blocks southwest; Carffour grocery, 2 blocks south; Franprix grocery (very small), 1 block away; Amorio and Hagen-Daz ice-cream stores, 1 block south; various Metro stops, 2 to 5 blocks away. Foodwise, I recommend Gerard Mulot patisserie, Monoprix grocery (especially if you're a vegan or vegetarian), Berthillon & Amorio ice-cream stores, & the great French baguettes everywhere.

Had a wonderful time in Paris and the location of this apt had a great deal to do with it. It is in the absolute perfect spot! Also, Laurent was wonderful to deal with, great tips on the city and even tried to help us locate a specific item for our teenage son. Thanks again Laurent!

My wife and I stayed in this apartment for a week in celebration of our anniversary. It is perfectly situated for many of the sight seeing hotspots which all can be reached on foot within a short distance. Just around the corner is a charming street called rue de Buci which has everything you need to make your stay more comfortable from a grocery store to a number of produce stands, boulangeries and cafes. My wife was delighted with the fresh flower stand there.

The apartment was very clean and well maintained. The bedroom is upstairs and extremely quiet--we slept soundly every night from the moment our heads hit the pillows. The apartment has all the necessary amenities and the kitchen is well equipped for a meal at home. Every morning I would walk to the boulangerie just down our block for fresh croissants which we would enjoy with coffee we made at the apartment before starting our day.

Laurent, our contact in Paris, met us at the apartment right on time and was extremely helpful and courteous. It is nice to know there is someone there you can reach at any time if necessary. As we had our laptop with us, Laurent even sent occasional articles on things to do or see while in Paris or interesting articles about the city.

As others have commented on the stairs I will not go into it any further other than to say, yes there are several flights of stairs (actually a spiral staircase), however, unless you have a health condition they are completely manageable. The fact is elevators are a rarity in Paris except at the newer and larger hotels. The benefits of being on the top floor--extremely quiet and great skylights/windows in the upstairs--far outweigh the detriment, if any, of dealing with stairs.

The owner was great to work with and responded immediately to any inquires we had.

We feel that renting an apartment is infinitely better than being confined to a small hotel room and for the price you could never find a comparable hotel (on our last visit to Paris our hotel, also in the St. Germain des Pres area, was so small you could practically touch the walls on either side when standing in the middle of the room). We highly recommend this apartment and plan to stay there on our next visit.

My husband and I just returned from Paris. We absolutely loved the apartment, the location being perfect. I would only be stating everything else you've read....the owner and his representative were a pleasure to work with, the apartment is wonderful and we will NEVER use a hotel again....We are already planning when we can get back here again.
