It is the first time that we rent an apartement in NYC. Usually we went to hotels. When we arrived at the apartment, it was like the pictures except that nothing was exactly clean as expected by reading other reviews. But that would be a problem for us. The apartment is in a great location an quite big BUT there was a BIG PROBLEM with the heating. The 2nd morning we told that to the owner, who said that she will ask the man from the building to fix it. But the 3rd and 4th days, it was always freezing in the apartment, despite the 4 extraheating already present in the renting. ( why were they already in there ? )
I called the owner again to make her notice that it was still very cold in the apartment and she told that she will call someone to fix the heating system, but it was not possible for him to come before Thuesday ( 7 days from the arrival day...) and she bought 1 other extra heating system. They didn't heat the room enough, so it was still freezing.
If you plane to rent this apartment , be prepared to freeze.
As we ask for a refund of part of the price of the renting, the owner refuses despite the fact than for 1 week ( we rented for 3 weeks ) it was no heating and that for the 2 remaining weeks we left the place because of the cold... VERY BAD EXPERIENCE
Owner's Response: It is my number one priority that every guest has a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and this commitment to service is reflected in every other guest review except this one. I regret that these guests did not have a good stay, however it is hard to cater to someone who is uncooperative. It is true that the guests brought the temperature of the apartment to my attention, after which I immediately purchased two large space heaters and called a heating electrician to come as soon as possible. The electrician could not come on the weekends and the weather was still not very cold (I was fine without heat in my own home), so I thought the space heaters would be sufficient for a day or two. Unfortunately, the guests left before the electrician came and I noticed they did not even open the space heaters. I recall that they were looking for a permanent residence in New York, perhaps they found a place sooner than expected and were disappointed with our no refund policy. Either way, I did all I could to accommodate these guests and the bad experience they had was not necessarily any fault of the apartment or of mine.
