Great house and hosts...
This was our first experience renting a home away from home as a retired couple. Having never done this before and the fact that we were so far away in Wisconsin we were careful and bit apprehensive. Maggie, our host/owner, made the experience stress free. She was prompt to reply to all email correspondence and calls with our questions. She gave us a sense of confidence that we really appreciated.
The house is EXACTLY what the Tate’s are showing in their ad. It is beautiful, convenient, and well stocked. The appliances, wifi, grills, furniture, beds, linens, and heating / cooling system are modern and work well. The surrounding neighborhood and beach are beautiful. It is like living in a small town 20 minutes away from Galveston. Safe and relaxed is how we felt.
As noted above it is 20 minutes from large grocery stores, shopping, and restaurants in Galveston so consider your needs on each trip to town. That was not a problem for us. We considered our trips in as “day trips” for our vacation. The web site, Galveston.com will give you many ideas of thing to do in the area. The hospitality of the area’s merchants was exceptionally welcoming during the month of February when things are slow.
Finally, I would remind you as others have to shop in Galveston at Randall’s or Kroger’s before you go out to the beach house. Also, we drank bottled water at the house because we did not care for the taste of the tap water. It was fine for coffee and cooking. This was personal preference only. Bring good insect repellent for some of your walks and definitely for golf course. (Nice course, fees, and management at Moody Gardens I might add.)
Thanks, Maggie, for making our first snowbird trip so stress free.
