excellent New Orleans base

We stayed in this lovely property in October 2011. The owners are great to deal with and provide fast and helpful responses to any initial enquiry or questions.
The location is great in a safe and friendly area but within a very short drive or Streetcar ride of anywhere you would want to go.
The interior of the propery is lovely and decorated in a way which makes you feel that you are indeed in New Orleans. The high tech entertainment system throughout is excellent and the bed very comfortable. A kettle in the kitchen and an iron and ironing board would be helpful but this is being picky.
We enjoyed sitting on the porch with a drink and watching the streetcars go by after a days sightseeing.
Both grocery stores and a selection of places to eat are within easy walking distance, although you might prefer to drive to the grocery store.
Highly recommended for a New Orleans vacation.

Our Weekend Vacation

5 of 5
Submitted: October 12, 2011 Stayed: October 2011
Wow, we had a great weekend! This was our first time renting a place and not going to a hotel. This was one of the best choices i've made and we will do it again. The house was VERY clean and comfortable. It looked like it was recently updated. We picked up my son and his friend from Keesler AFB and all 5 of us had plenty of room and slept well. The trolley is right across the street from the house so you can be in the French Quarter in 10 min for only $1.25 (have exact change) or buy a day pass for $3.00. The owner Jennifer couldn't be sweeter. I emailed her to find out if the kitchen had a Crock Pot. When we arrived a "brand new" crock pot was sitting on the kitchen counter. My son and his friend enjoyed the home cooked meal. The grocery store is walking distance a little past Venetzia Pizza. Thanks!!!
Owner's Response: Thank You, your always welcome.

Explore NOLA without the hassel of a Hotel.

I was very pleased with my stay at this vacation home. Prior to our visit the renters were very helpful and nice. They gave us suggestions on places to eat, see, and offered their services if we needed them during our stay. Price was reasonable compared to other properties and the location was good (especially if your driving to NOLA). The house was clean and had everything we needed for 4 adults staying 3 nights. Loved the Sirius in-home stereo and LARGE flat panel TVs. Very updated and modern. The neighborhood was safe and quiet at night. Plenty of folks walking dogs and most people greeted you (I'm from the south so I'm used to it, if not ya best learn to say HI back. lol) We made one shower for 4 people work and had great water pressure. There are plenty of places to eat, get gas, and groceries within a short distance. We all really enjoyed the house and stay. If your driving be prepared to parallel park and make lots of U turns. You can drive strait down Canal street and in about 2 miles you'll be right in down town NOLA. You can if you want get tickets for the street car at the Walgreens a few blocks from the house 12bucks a person for 3 day pass. Not bad but the 4 of us staying just split parking when we went downtown. Be sure to get parking validated when possible (saved us 32bucks at riverwalk). During our stay we ate at Elizabeth's for breakfast (awesome, get there early 9am ish). The Gumbo shop for lunch ( suggested by our Haunted History tour guide). Also went cheap one day and ate in the Riverwalk mall (best handmade Pralines we had were at the mall suprisingly). Mulates(Cajun dishes for sure), Crescent City Brewery (duck pork chicken beef) and Port of Call (excellent hamburgers) were all great evening choices. Port of Call is a small place. Got there after 8pm and waited hour and half so got some drinks and it was worth the wait. Expect to pay about 20 bucks a person for most meals. Aquarium and Haunted History tours were also fun. Hit up Frenchman st for what Bourbon st used to be. Great music, food, and the locals suggest it. If your just there to get smashed and forget your way home then stay on Bourbon st. We enjoyed the whole city and its still coming back from Katrina. Will be back to this great city again soon.

My family of 5 loved this house! Beautiful floors, high ceilings, nice, comfortable furniture, everything we needed! We rode the street car everyday - it stopped right in front of the house. The owners were friendly and helpful! Nice neighborhood and convenient location! Wonderful italian restaurant, "Venezia", within walking distance. So many fun and interesting places to go in New Orleans!! A few of our favorites ....... the Aquarium, the Zoo, the IMAX, City Park ( the sculpture garden ), the Garden District, Jackson Square (River's Edge restaurant was excellent - i loved the jambalaya), lots of good shopping, WWII Museum, and of course Cafe du Monde. I highly recommend this house! We hope to be back next year!!
