Great spot for a family vacation in NYC
My family spent 7 nights here,: it was a great experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Azi was great at answering questions before we arrived in terms of directions, neighbourhood and so on. She was very straight-forward, pleasant, and reassuring to deal with. Kermit was also helpful and friendly when he came by.
When we arrived, we found the apartment to be immaculate and spacious. It has been recently renovated (beautifully - we took pics for ideas for our home) and has every modern convenience, but has also retained its period character.
The apartment was very well-equipped. With past vacation rentals, we've often found the kitchen lacking (no spaghetti strainer, warped frying pan, etc), but this one had everything, even more so than at home! Travelling with a family, it is nice to be able to have breakfast before going out to explore in the morning, or to come back and make a simple supper after a busy day. It was also great to have high-speed internet available, so we could quickly check on the hours at places we were visiting or use Google Maps. Given the weather during our stay, I was delighted to find a large umbrella waiting for us, too...
The captain's bed in the second bedroom was a big kid-hit. Do be aware that you have to walk through that bedroom to get to the master bedroom from the living room or bathroom - so if there's a light sleeper in there, it can be a bit sticky.
The walk to the subway is about 10 minutes, down a pleasant residential street, and we enjoyed being in a real neighbourhood that's not full of tourists. Brunch at Barcey's Cafe was tasty, and we loved eating at the nearby spot that doubles as a tortilla factory.
All in all, we were thrilled with our stay!
