Centrally located in the Santa Ynez Valley on a private gated 10 acre horse ranch.

The Santa Ynez Valley is a rural scenic area with rolling hills, wineries, horses, a large golf course nearby, rich olive and lavender industries and the ocean is less than an hour away.Lots of shopping at unique local shops, antique shops and Solvang our world famous Danish Village is less than 3 miles away.

Plenty of places to bike ride, hike, ride, shop and eat. Lots of amazing restaurants all throughout this area. This area is absolutely a destination vacation place. What a great place to come and take time off from your busy schedules, take a huge breath and get rejuvenated and ready to go again!

About The Owner

Brian is an Architect that specializes in Christian based Alcohol & Drug Rehab Centers all around the United States.

Marcia is the horse specialist and coaches and trains people and their horses. Marcia works all ages, but especially loves to work with children. Marcia also specializes in rescuing and rehabbing horses and putting htem back into full service with their people.

We participate and volunteer in The Ranch Church here in the Valley, a great place to visit if you're here over a Sunday. A casual upbeat Calvary Chapel Church with great worship music.

This is a family business with our two adult sons Dan and Jeremy helping and participating in bldg, constr and upkeep of our 10 acre property.

We have 2 grandchildren Noah 6 and Becca 17yrs that help too. Becca is our photographer! We have a couple of friendly dogs; MacKenzie and Cowboy.

We look forward to meeting you when you check in. You will love our area and our home away from home all prepared for YOU!

Why The Owner chose Santa Ynez

We love the area, the people, the shops and restaurants etc. Our favorite restaurant is The Los Olivos Cafe; our favorite shop is Back At The Ranch in SY.

There are many, many places to visit and see. Serious bike riders LOVE this area. There are so many places to train. Horse people LOVE this area. We have lots of trails nearby where you can ride in the mountains and by Cachuma Lake.

If you just want to get some R & R, The Country Ranch House is nice enough to just stay and enjoy with the amenities it provides. You will go home refreshed and ready to face the world once again!

We have many celebrations here. A Day in the Country, Danish Days, Santa Ynez Valley Days and more. We have parades for every holiday in various of the towns here. We have music festivals and music & movies in the park in downtown Solvang.

The visitors bureau will help us to collect all the dates of all that happens here.

And of course Wine Tasting has become a very BIG draw here. Wineries galore. We have begun a fun wine exchange program. Buy your favorite wine and leave a bottle with a message on the bottle, take a bottle another guest has left for your fun.

Our 6-night stay couldn't have been more perfect. The cottage was comfortable and clean and had a perfect spot to store our bikes when we weren't using them. Marcia and Brian were very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. The biking was unlimited and included everything from rolling wine country to the strenuous Mt. Figueroa. We ate out each night during our stay and we were never disappointed. There seemed to be an endless selection of small, local restaurants all within 3-5 miles. The bakeries and chocolate in Solvang were absolutely amazing. It's hard to make a selection at the bakery when there are about 40 different items to select from. We'll be back next year.

We arrived in Santa Ynez on a weekend filled with rain and hail, and this cozy cottage was the perfect antidote to the wild weather outside. Snug and pretty, it is centrally located to all of the local wineries and is a peaceful haven for harried couples wanting a complete change of pace. Thank you! We loved it!

The Cottage at the Barn was perfect for myself and my husband. It was clean and efficient with everything necessary for preparing meals and being comfortable. Listing description was accurate regarding layout and amenities.
The cottage was very clean and well maintained, easy to care for.
The owners were very accommodating and friendly and available when needed. They provided excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative and would look forward to staying there again on my next visit to the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. The local restaurants, shops are excellent and there are many to choose from. there is much historical and geographical interest in the area and many fine day hikes and venues. The local wineries are also a great attraction.
Owner's Response: We had the best time with you as our guests. You had a longer stay than many and really got to enjoy the SY Valley and see many familiar sights from when you lived here as teens. We were grateful to meet you from Alaska! Maybe someday we'll get to go there!

Friendly Adorable Cottage

I rented this property for some friends who were driving up from Los Angeles for a wedding. The owners made it very easy for me to set up the rental. The friends who stayed there loved the experience and took advantage of the opportunity to get some riding lessons for their daughter. Bottom line, the friends were very impressed and will be coming back. They especially enoyed being at an authentic horse facility. I personally toured the cottage and can attest to the cleanliness and repair of this adorable guest house.

Such a great place!

We loved this place! So peaceful and beautiful. The cottage was very clean and cute and the owners are very friendly. It's small but we felt just fine with 2 small dogs, a baby and my husband and me. Bed is super comfortable and it felt super safe. The location is pretty fabulous, too: minutes to Los Olivos and Santa Ynez and lots of wineries are close. We intend to go back very soon!
