This newly completed 1220 square foot modern loft is on the second floor of an 1880s building originally used as a dry goods storage warehouse. It has a bright airy open floor plan with two baths and a bedroom that is partitioned from the living area by an opening frosted glass wall. The stylish modern kitchen has all new appliances. The sitting and dining areas look out onto a wonderful view of Broughton Street, Savannah?s revitalized Main Street, now boasting a wide range of upscale shops and restaurants.
The new Ellis Square development and City Market, Forsyth Park, River Street, the new Telfair Jepson Center for the Arts, Historic Houses and Ghost Tours are all within a 10 minute walk. Beautiful sandy beaches at Tybee Island and the historic Fort Pulaski civil war site are a 20 minute drive away.
We are busy professionals living in Atlanta, Georgia. Our children have recently left for college and we can now regularly visit Savannah for long weekends and longer breaks during the year. Sometimes we go to the beach, or to hike in the Savannah Wildlife Refuge (15 mins away on the other side of the river) but usually we stay in the Historic District, wandering around the squares and beautiful old peaceful streets. In the evening we walk to a nearby pub or a restaurant, or cook at home and enjoy the views from our windows.
We bought this loft after deciding to get to know Savannah better as a possible place to retire. When we saw the light filled raw space with 7 huge windows looking over old Savannah we fell in love and bought it on the spot. We spent a year building it out to use for ourselves with a beautiful kitchen and bathrooms. Since then we have bought a larger house as our retirement home and turned the loft over to full time rentals.
