We came to Bora Bora on our honeymoon and felt that we had the best accommodations on the island! We were so entertained by the variety of fish to watch and snorkel with right off the deck. It was truly the best snorkeling experience! I'm still wondering if one of the four oysters I spotted are holding pearls..hmmm. We had a car to get to the market and make a few trips around the island with, which was so great. By the end of the week we had gone scuba diving twice and snorkeled every day, we learned how to husk and crack open and grate a coconut all by ourselves, and knew the personalities of all of "our" fish. Needless to say, we felt right at home! We cooked our own meals and ate on the amazing waterfront patio feeling like we were at our favorite restaurant all but one night. We loved watching the sunset from the deck and also loved watching the stars come out among the palm trees. The trade winds were blowing in full swing the week we were there, but it was so comfortable! 80's during the day and 70's at night. After our eyes adjusted to the beauty of the water and the gorgeous tropics around the island we decided we could belong here! We miss the soft ocean breezes, the untouched beauty of the island, feeding our fish, and our dinners on the deck. We are already planning our next trip. It's a funny phenomenon considering we anticipated going to this exotic destination and we left feeling like we were right at home. MAURURU!!! Nana...until next time!

Warning . . . this may ruin Hawaii for you!

We'd heard from some friends that visiting Bora Bora could ruin Kauai for us as we have a vacation home there. We suspected this might be some promotional hype, but from the moment we saw Bora Bora from our plane window we started to realize it was true. Now as we're preparing to leave, we've come to realize that Bora Bora has about 10 times the beauty of Hawaii, and a tenth of the crowds. We have never enjoyed a more relaxing vacation and ended up spending a lot of time just sitting on the deck and enjoying the incredible view.
Get a little warm? No problem, just jump off the deck into the lagoon and snorkel right there in front of your bungalow. Afterward, enjoy a fresh water shower and get back to that book :-) And so it went, it was just heaven on earth and it was right in front of us.
As for Richard (owner) and Nir (on island host) . . . it could not have been easier or friendlier. As the bungalow enjoys some fantastic privacy, you'll want to have a car handy and Nir rented us a car at a very reasonable rate. Sadly the realities of the world did come with us a little, but when we needed the Internet password, Richard was back to us within an hour. Everyone on Bora Bora is service oriented and you will feel pampered.
Having never been here we were a little reluctant to try something different from the resort bungalows but are we ever glad we did. The privacy and serenity was amazing. I'm on the deck as I write this on our last night and wish we could just upload what we're seeing as the lagoon is so calm and the moon is full. Heaven on earth and we WILL be back.

It's almost been a year now since my wife and I took our honeymoon out to Bora Bora. It was nerve racking to say the least. Going to this paradise and stay not at a luxury hotel with all the securities but at a strangers home, that we found on a website that we never used before. We had never been to Bora Bora and really no clue if somebody would be actually waiting for us when we got off the plane to bring us to our bungalow. All the worries changed the second we got off that boat. As told, Nir, the caretaker, rental car provider, concierge, was fantastic. He immediately made my wife and I feel very comfortable and at home in this paradise. When we got to our over water bungalow it was everything Richard said it would be. It was absolutely breath-taking. It felt as though we spent a week in a fantasy world. We took different trips around the island each day, one of which stopped right in front of our bungalow for them to show us that this is where Marlon Brandow stayed. We shopped at a local grocery store and sometimes made breakfast, lunch and dinner to cut expenses. I would never been able to afford going to Bora Bora if we had to go to one of the resorts. Richard made it possible for my wife and I to have a honeymoon that we will never forget. I have not been able to find the words to describe how great of an experience this was. I have already started dreaming to our return to Bora Bora and as long as Richard is still willing to share his piece of paradis with my wife and I then we will be staying in the same bungalow. It was amazing!

Affordable, Beautiful View, Great Over Water House

Marlon's Over Water Bungalow is a beautiful house with incredible views. If you want to experience Bora Bora in an authentic and reasonably priced way, this is the house for you! By Bora Bora standards, this two bedroom spacious house is reasonably priced and you can shop at the local markets and enjoy local restaurants within a few miles, and experience the culture. You will want to rent a car as the nicest beach, Matira, and some of the best restaurants are on the other end of the island (about 20-30 minute drive). I highly recommend the house, and I would stay here again. The caretaker is a very kind and helpful person, and he was available to answer all our questions and make suggestions. You'll have a great trip if you stay here, and the owner was a pleasure to deal with.
