Best vacation ever!
We lead a busy life and were looking for a nice safe place to relax with our children. Cannon Cottage and Silver Sands was PERFECT! Starting with the shuttle from the airport- the whole experience was well done and the service was excellent. The staff was so friendly and caring, they even prepared a yummy birthday cake to celebrate my birthday, and kept my 4 year old son happy with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The house and gardens were beautiful, and the beach was perfect- soft sand, clean and very safe. The food was great and we enjoyed eating many traditional Jamaican dishes and treats. The jacuzzi was excellent in the heat of the day, and a cozy way to end the evenings when it was warmed up. We also enjoyed the nighttime family activities provided by Silver Sands. The owner was very caring and accommodating, even setting up a visit to a local school so our children could see what school is like for most children in Jamaica. We will definitely recommend Cannon Cottage to all our friends, and can not wait to return.

Even better than we hoped!
Our family (parents in their 40s, girls age 7 and 9) spent our vacation here Feb. 11-18th. We have used Home Away many times and have stayed in a number of villas in Hawaii and the Caribbean and Cannon Cottage is up there with the best. The owner was accommodating and made the rental process easy and efficient. She found our specialty milks in Kingston for our food allergies and had them waiting for us at the villa. Lorna had an amazing dinner ready for us upon arrival and was pleasant and accommodating all week. She has a terrific laugh! I thought she was very careful about our food allergies and her cooking was delicious (try her coconut pie). The villa was clean and stayed that way with careful attention by Erika who also did all our laundry. The villa is tastefully decorated with original art on the walls; it is obviously well-loved and the rooms were fresh and inviting. The grounds were stunning. I loved the location on the side of a hill and feeling you had your own private, beautiful view of the ocean. The back garden was private and had a lovely hot tub with waterfall that we all enjoyed, often with a rum punch at our side! It was so lush. The steps down to the short walk to the beach (minutes) were well lit at night. We enjoyed the beach; soft white sand and good boogie boarding. We snorkeled with Errol's crew off the beach there and it was incredible. We definitely felt safe and I had walks by myself all over Silver Sands with no difficulties. Overall, a great experience and very pleased with our choice of Cannon Cottage.

Perfect Christmas
Our two grown, married daughters, both with 6month old infants in tow met us (darling husband and Yours Truly) at Cannon Cottage for Christmas 2010. Cannon couldn't have been better for us. A darling cottage with excellent staff (many loads of baby laundry!) kept us fed and clean and relaxed. We spent time on the beach, time in the jacuzzi and time at meals with rum punches at the ready. Even though we had a vegetarian amongst us, our cook was so accommodating and the food was delicious, local and just want we wanted. Everything at Silver Sands is in close walking distance; the little store, the club house, the beach, the fishermen's landing (for fresh fish or lobster) and the tennis court.
We were happily picked up at the airport and had access to a driver and van whenever we wanted it for sightseeing and day trips. We loved the landlady who welcomed us and we would happily recommend Cannon Cottage, Silver Sands and Jamaica without hesitation.

a peacfull place
We pass a week in dec 2010 at Cannon cottage.
Beautifull place, clean, well decorated, gorgeaous view.
Lorna make real good jamaican food for us.
The beach is nice ,The place is safe and quiet. Bring plenty of book.
My first langage is french so sorry for the mistake in spelling.

THE BEST VACATION EVER !!!
Just wanted to thank everyone at Cannon Cottage for such a wonderful vacation. The accomodations there were very nice. We were all so comfortable and very well cared for. We were able to get some much needed rest and adventure all in one. The food was fantastic (thank you Lorna!) and we couldn't have had a nicer time. Only wish we could have stayed longer. We hope to come back again very soon. Thank you all soo much :-)

Superlative Seaside Cottage
Over the past 20+ years we have stayed in many, many Jamaican villas and resorts and Cannon Cottage compares favorably with them all. In fact, in many ways, Cannon Cottage is more quaint and atmospheric than the majority of properties we have enjoyed. Karen, the owner, has traveled widely and the Cottage is filled with her finds and treasures. Everywhere one looks there is something to engage one's interest, from Jamaican paintings to Mexican artifacts to souvenirs from Italy, all placed about the Cottage with wit and imagination.
The Cottage itself is extremely comfortable, well maintained and very clean. Lorna and Erica, the two ladies who cook and clean and take care of guests, are charming and solicitous. Meals are delicious and pleasingly presented.
Around the Cottage, which is high on a hill overlooking the beach and the sea, is Karen's lush, tropical garden. Out on the veranda, embellished with traditional gingerbread trim and a hammock, one can eat or sleep or push and pull the chairs into a cozy configuration for late night chatting. The light clacking of the palm trees, the chirp of crickets and the faraway shush of the sea provides a dreamy soundtrack for memories of Jamaica.
In the rear garden is a jacuzzi for relaxing, and another seating arrangement for drinks or meals. Merely a two minute's walk from the Cottage is the famous Silver Sands beach with its glorious turquoise water and creamy sand as soft as fine sugar.
Adventuring is less than an hour in each direction; Rio Bueno, St. Ann's Bay and Ocho Rios lie to the east, and the towns of Falmouth and Montego Bay are to the west. The market town of Brown's Town is a half hour drive into the southern hills of Trelawny, where the curious traveler can discover charming "old" Jamaica along the winding hill roads.
With just a phone call, a driver can be arranged to take the interested traveler away from Cannon Cottage and the idyllic beach, but with such a delightful spot designed to pamper and sooth, one wonders if anyone could ever find the energy....

A truly wonderful and perfect place to stay !
We travelled a lot in the world, seen a lot of places, villas or hotels, and we must admit that Silver Sands was even better than we expected.
And in that paradisiac place, Cannon Cottage is probably one of the best villas around, with its unique and fine style. A very nice view on the sea, quiet, with a rich flowered garden, a comfortable terrace, a cosy jaccuzzi, and few steps from the beautiful and clean beach, you'll also find all what you need inside. You don't have to worry about anything, as everything is provideed, from the beach towels to the kindness of the housekeepers.
Lorna, the cooker, will soon become a legend for her wonderful dishes.
Back from the beach all is set for lunch or dinner, as you ordered ! that's magic !
You'll just have to relax, enjoy and feel the warmth of the sun.
My wife and I were with our two kids, 7 and 2, plus my sister. It's really perfect for a family. Everything was done to make our stay perfect.
I will strongly recommend Cannon Cottage to all of my friends who wish to come to Jamaica.
Also its geographical location allows you to easily visit a wide part of north coast, as the roads are very good on that part of the island.

The Best Property in Silver Sands!
I have had the privilege and pleasure of renting more than ten different homes in Silver Sands. By far, Cannon Cottage is the best for the following reasons:
-the home is decorated tastefully w Jamaican art
-the porch/verandah has shade and sun, you can see and hear the Sea - all meals can be eaten there
-the rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable
-the garden and grounds are spectacular - the most beautiful in Silver Sands
-the back garden is private w dining area, Jacuzzi - it is a wonderland
One of Cannon Cottage's best assets is its staff who are warm, fun, extremely competent, great cooks and maintain the house and gardens very well. They truly care & want your stay to be comfortable, happy.
I recommend Cannon Cottage without hesitation.

I love Cannon Cottage!
There is only so much you can say about this place until you just go there and experience it for yourself! I have been to Cannon Cottage a few times now and everytime it gets better and better.
My favorite things include: The beach, the rum punch, the beach, the hammock, and did I mention the beach?
It is so relaxing if you are needing a getaway but only a walk away if you would like to hang out down by the bar. You could also walk 5 minutes to Leroys and enjoy live music!
Lenor, Nessie, and Barry are AWESOME! They have such a great way of making you feel at home. AND there is a never ending supply of rum punch! Fresh fruit salad in the morning is my favorite.
You owe it to yourself to come and stay here at least once...I bet you always come back!

Our Home Away from Home!
I had the pleasure to stay at Cannon Cottage with two of my girlfriends. We arrived late at night and Nessie (one of the helpers at the house) had a DELICIOUS dinner waiting! It was like coming home after a long day of work and having the house clean and food waiting!
It was the most relaxing stay, never have I been in a place as peacful and warm. All the helpers, Lorna, Nessie and Barry were gracious, kind, and so hospitable. Karen was divine! She arranged many activities that we wanted to do at great rates! She even arranged for us girls to go up into the mountains with Barry to see the Jamaican "Bush". He made it for a very memorable adventure! :)
The beach is spectacular, a short walk away from the house. You can even take a dip in the sea at night! It's not only wonderful for families and friends, but also incredibly romantic.
The food was excellent, ask for the Akee and Saltfish for breakfast and Lorna's Pork Roast for dinner, it was all so fresh and tasty! We even had a delicious Rum Punch made (we bought all the ingredients they suggested) that made all of us very happy!!
This is not only a wonderful place to stay, but safe, and so inviting. No all inclusive can match this. It's the epitome of a relaxing beach vacation. I'm already going again next year in May!
