Rainy day? No challenge, take the 'herd' to Palace Pointe --1st class family entertainment complex all under one roof--20 state-of-the-art bowling lanes, video arcade, rollerskating, 7 billiards tables, 8 theatres, food diner & bar. You can feel secure and safe, because there is one central entrance/exit, so your kids cannot leave without you seeing them. There is no other complex like this in the southeast US. Baseball: drive 30 minutes to see the Durham Bulls minor league baseball team--great family fun, terrific modern venue at affordable prices. Unique to us NC 'rednecks' is VIR (Virginia International Raceway). We 'rednecks' know Nascar & Drag Racing, but this is different. Drive 30 minutes to one of the finest LeMans-type road race courses in the world--mega millions invested--this race course is like a natural road, not an oval track, offering pro & amateur sports car racing, motorcycle racing, riding & racing schools--seriously, Paul Newman raced here & loved this place!
Lastly, our heart = Mayo Lake & Park: clean, clear water--out in the boat on a calm day, with the sun angling down on you, you can see 4 feet deep through this pristene emerald green water, just incredible! You can always find calm water to ski, wakeboard, & tube. Compared to most lakes, Mayo is totally & amazingly uncrowded. Fishing enthusiasts come far & wide to Mayo--bass, crappie, tournaments, or fish at our dock, you'll be happy. Mayo Park has 1st class leadership--amphitheatre (bands, movies, plays), walking trails, playground, free boat launch, kayak & canoe rentals delivered to your cabin, and a deck for wildlife viewing ....mix this with fun trips to Raleigh, Durham, & Chapel Hill, there are so many exciting things to do...but, finally, & above all else, slow down, feel the peacefulness and tranquility that you will experience at Cornerstone Cabin. Relax, unwind, get free, get restored & re-energized, the cabin's not ours, it's yours....please come. Sincerely, Arch & Kathy
