We had a great time. Everything was clean, comfortable, private and convenient. We had 8 adults and 3 children. If I went back I would have taken some towels for the hot tub, but there is washer/dryer and even detergent. I would also take some folding chairs so we could all fit at the dining room table. There was plenty of room to eat outside, but the bugs were bad this time of year. Otherwise everything was perfect.

This was our first time staying here and renting from Donnie. We are already looking forward to 'next time' though. This log home, not cabin, is nestled in the trees on a small moutainside. It is very private, almost secluded, but is less than 15 minutes from Harrah's Cherokee and Bryson City.

Donnie, the owner, was most accomodating and helped to made the arrangements easy to setup. He was down-to-earth, personable, and kept the transaction plain and simple. There were no surprises, no hard sells, no over-promises, and no hidden fees.

There are new decks surrounding the homes second floor, and a new 'overlook' deck downstairs with the hot tub and seating for those that wish to stay dry but sit and visit. No worries about privacy or showing your 'tan-lines' to the world while getting in and out of the hot tub. The only neighbor we saw is up the hill and quite a ways away.

The place was spotless-clean, and the kitchen appeared brand new. Even the tap water in the place was clean, clear, and tasted great. No surprise critters or bugs indoors, no cobwebs, and no dust bunnies.

There were plenty of pots, pans, cooking and eating utensils, glasses, plates, and even paper towels supplied. No need to take a cooler full of food because the Food Lion grocery is about 10 minutes away at the bottom of the hill. Pack a quick light bag because there is even a cloths washer and dryer downstairs. We didn't use it, but there was a charcoal grill for great steaks or burgers.

We had heard that the the restaurant experiences were not particularly outstanding beyond basics, and can only confirm that is true for the local Italian place. Stick with the kitchen and cooking yourself, its certainly a better value, even if its Stouffers frozen lasagna.

If you need it, there is wireless Internet, a telephone, and satellite TV's. There was full-strength mobile coverage on AT&T, Verizon, and even Sprint! Data reception was 3G and also full-strength.

Although the log home seems to be secluded, it took less than 25 minutes to get from the door to our concert seats at Harrah's in Cherokee, including parking in the garage.

A very good vacation rental experience that we already have recommended to friends and family.
