Beautiful, Modern Villa in Great Location
My husband and I and two friends stayed at this lovely villa for one week, which was way too short! We had a wonderful time and would definitely rent the villa again, and recommend it highly. The pictures are very accurate. The main "great room" stretches the full length of the house, and opens completely to the pool area. As you can see from the photos, it has a modern kitchen, dining table, and orange/red couches in the living room area. Each of the three bedrooms have a bathroom. The "red" bedroom and the bedroom that has two twin beds are on the first floor. The "master" bedroom that has a double-sink in the bathroom is on the second floor. The downstairs bedroom with the twin beds has the toilet in a separate room, that is only accessible from the great room. All of the bedrooms have separate air conditioning units, which was nice in the evening.
We loved having the kitchen to prepare coffee and breakfast in the morning. We also ate lunch in the Villa several times, as well as dinner a few times. There is a very large grocery store nearby that has everything you need, and the prices are not unreasonable. There is also a Pharmacy close by, as well as a few small restaurants.
Grand Case has some great restaurants and it is very close by. We had an amazing French dinner there one night.
Pinel Island is a must. The beach is pristine, and the 3 small restaurants on the island are great for lunch. We went over early. The first ferry boat, which is actually an open-air motor boat, holds about 30 people and leaves the dock around 9:30 or so (it varied widely). Once on the island, 2 chairs plus an umbrella and 2 drinks was cheap, like $15 or less as I recall.
Definitely rent a car, you'll need one. We used the Banana Locations rental service that the Villa owners recommended. It was absolutely worth it. The car agency people met us at the airport and escorted us all the way to the Villa, which really helped as it's tricky to find the first time.
The only negatives: Yes, there are mosquitoes---it's a tropical island, so they are unavoidable. Bring Off! spray. The mattresses are very firm. The "red" room has the best mattress, the other rooms have futons. The stairs have no handrail, so older folks or young children might have a problem. The housekeeper was away during our stay, so a neighbor let us in, which was a definite disadvantage. It would be nice if there were brochures in the Villa for area tours, more restaurant recommendations, etc.
