Best Week of Our Lives
My husband and I stayed at this lovely little condo for our 11 year anniversary. We wanted to stay in the neighborhoods of Manhattan, away from tourist traps but still close to them. This rental gave us exactly that! It was clean, has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and the best location in New York if you want to pretend you're an actual New Yorker and not just a tourist. We stayed out until 3 am some nights and Never felt unsafe. Everyone was friendly, there's a grocery store right down the block, cute little stores, great neighborhood bars, delicious coffee and pastries, a cool 24 hr lottery store and the University is nearby so every night of the week the restaurants and pubs were full of interesting people. The owners let us check in early and check out late because they didn't need it for other patrons. Upon arrival they gave us the keys, a smile and let us enjoy their property with instructions of just leaving the key on the hook once we left. The owners have a few other properties including one in Times Square so I will never stay in a hotel when visiting NY again! I couldn't have asked for a better location, cleaner rental, more comfortable bed or nicer property managers. Wood floors were beautiful, exposed brick was very chic, bathroom was small but efficient, couch pulled out to a bed and television pulled away from the wall and rotated so you could still watch from bed. I was a little concerned that renting a condo in NY might be a scam after reading various articles on Google so we did research on the property's address and owners names. We were able to find out that they have other properties to rent, only took our credit card number for security purposes and didn't charge it, allowing us to pay cash upon arrival. If you rent this property you will love every aspect of your vacation and have some of the best nights of sleep of your life...enjoy our second home :) For some of the best pastries ever try Venerios @ 342 E.11th St, Pommes Frites @ 123 2nd Ave is a Belgian Fry place that has a ton of interesting dipping sauces. The fries are piping hot so your walk back to the condo is the perfect distance to allow them to cool down to eating temperature. I'm a very picky eater but I loved everything from roasted eggplant mayonnaise to mango chutney. Also be sure to visit Obscura Antiques from Discovery Channel's "oddities" It is super close and they are very nice people making sure to talk to us and take pix @ 207 Avenue A
