Kealakekua Bay House Rental Photos and Description
House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

'Okika Lani sits at the south end of Kealakekua Bay on a private road with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, the Captain Cook Monument, and crescent shaped, white sand Ke'ei Beach.

Enter the gate at 'Okika Lani and walk into an inner courtyard of Bamboo Palms, orchids, and tropical landscaping. Follow the path to the main house. A reclining Buddha resides on the entry table and greets all visitors when they walk through the front door. High ceilings, an open floor plan, and the sound of waves breaking against the shoreline beckon visitors into this spectacular Hawaiian home.

A wall of glass and sliding doors opens from the central great room onto a tiled porch. It's just a few steps down to the patio, private pool, lawn, magnificent bay and ocean views. Watch the morning dive boats anchor across the Bay at the Captain Cook Monument while taking your local Kona coffee and fresh papaya by the pool. Or marvel at the resident pod of Spinner Dolphins leaping and cavorting in the pristine waters while no one else is around to see.

'Okika Lani was designed by an award winning architect in the traditional Hawaiian style of post and beam construction, vaulted ceilings, and a spacious, open floor plan. A large kitchen, great room, and beautiful master suite all grace this stunning home. Screened lanais on both ends of the house offer airy opportunities for private dining or simply relaxing out of the tropical sun. A substantial master bath boasts oversize shower, walk in closets, soaking tub, and skylights.

A separate guest cottage, accessed from the inner courtyard, also features two bedrooms (one bedroom with a king size bed the other bedroom with two ex long twin beds), shared bath, screened lanai, ceiling fans, and guest privacy.

'Okika Lani represents the epitome of elegance and seclusion amid the splendid tropical setting of Kealakekua Bay. The home's orientation to the sun and the sea make every sunset a picture perfect centerpiece for the perfect day. In the evening, try to catch the green flash of sunset, from the pool, lanai, or great room, and sip the perfect maitai at the end of a perfect day in paradise.

Aloha and Enjoy.

'Okika Lani was built by a U.S. corporate executive and his wife who found themselves in the unique situation of having to commute to Australia at least two times a month. Hawaii was a natural stopover. A dear friend referred them to the spot and recommended they build here as a place to rest from long travels. The rest of the story, as they say, is history.

Originally, 'Okika Lani was chosen for its seclusion and spectacular beauty. Kealakekua Bay provides an incredible opportunity to get away from the hustle of modern life. At the same time it is the essence of real living and an opportunity to reconnect with the soul. It has tremendous historical significance to the State of Hawaii and the Native Hawaiian Community, and for all who visit this special place, it has a life changing influence.

'Okika Lani provides an opportunity for seclusion amid the most spectacular tropic setting. Proximity to civilization maintains the security of modern services, while the sense of remoteness allows one to completely unwind from the tensions of modern society. The spectacular setting gives one a sense of peace, serenity, and complete relaxation.

My second visit to this lovely home was for our 20th anniversary (and 1st anniversary of fellow travelers). We had such a wonderful time. This was my husband's first trip to the 'big island' and he was totally smitten. Even if you've never contemplated renting a home for a vacation, this home will spoil you forever. It will give you a profound and unforgettable impression of Hawaii!

Everything was perfect and we had a simply unforgettable time! The peace, quiet, beauty, fantastic vistas, and comfortable accommodations were perfect. Whether we spent the day sight-seeing (whale watching, near-by beaches, Mauna Kea observatories, volcano tours, kayaking) or just rested by the wonderful pool/deck watching the whales right off the shore, each day was absolutely amazing. Dining in the screened in lanai or on the back deck was a special way to end each fabulous day. The home is spacious and beautifully decorated, with everything a vacationing family or group could want or need. Rental was easy to arrange. Owner was extremely flexible and easy/fun to work with! We hope to return again and again!

This beautiful, stylish home is both cozy and luxurious. The views are stunning! The main home has an ocean view from every room (and two of the three lanias). The lush back yard terraces down to the pool and then the ocean. Orchids of all colors grace the garden.

From the backyard, miles of magnificent coastline can be observed including the calm bay inhabited by spinner dolphins. Capt. Cooks memorial marker is also visible. We also enjoyed watching stingrays feed just a few feet from the terrace.

The home and guest house were spotless. Beautiful glass shutters open and allow in the soft tropical breezes. The weather was perfect about 85 degrees. And, no bugs! Just geckos which are believed to be 'lucky.'

The snorkel preserve, just a few miles away, was the best diving we have ever experienced. After the dive, it was easy to rinse off at the house with the outdoor shower.

We are already talking about re-booking our next trip.
