Even Better Than Expected
Our experience was even better than we ever expected. From one of the major routes, you turn onto a small road, designated by white posts marked "private." As you drive along, you see that you are in a lovely, very quiet neighborhood, with beautiful houses on large pieces of land. You reach Meadowlark, and open the white gate. What you find is this beautiful little house, on a giant piece of land, which you have all to yourself. The house is very nice, everything seems quite new, and the kitchen has what you need if you want to do some cooking. There is a porch in the back, where you can sit with your coffee and watch the many birds, jack rabbits, and other wild creatures that abound. From the back of the house, there is a little path that leads to the fire pit, a short distance from the house, under a lovely big pine. Abundant firewood and kindling is provided. There is a little bench built around the fire pit, and from here, you can relax and gaze upon your own private vineyard, down a little slope from your fire. The moon was just a bit more than half full while we were here, and that was plenty bright for making our way back and forth from the fire pit to the house at night; otherwise, you might want to bring flashlights or lanterns, and maybe some throw blankets to keep you toasty (the climate is SoCal desert; hot and bright during the day, chilly and misty at night, with the mist burning off by mid-morning).
The privacy is amazing; while you can see a few other houses from the property, there is complete silence and a feeling of real serenity. Doubt we will ever stay in a hotel Santa Barbara wine country after staying here; this is a rare and lovely experience not to be missed. Only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.
