Cozy two bedroom vacation rental within walking distance of the historic town of Santa Ynez. Embraced by a majestic California Oak, this second floor apartment has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, one bedroom with a double bed, one bathroom, a living room with a convertible bed (double) and a full kitchen. The beautiful Santa Ynez Valley is the gateway to the Santa Barbara Wine Country, home to over 60 vineyards and wineries. The Santa Ynez Valley was the location for the filming of the Academy Award winning movie Sideways, and the wineries and restaurants featured in the movie make great destinations. Other sites of interest include the Danish Village of Solvang, the Chumash Casino, Cachuma Lake, historic landmarks, outdoor theatre, art galleries, lavender farms, fruit orchards, and miniature horse ranches. In addition, the lovely beach town of Santa Barbara is only a 35 minute drive (along the Pacific Coast or through Los Padres National Forest).

A Lovely Place To Stay

A very lovely place to stay in the Los Olivos area! The apartment was very nice, comfortable, clean and centrally located to wine tasting and dining around the Santa Ynez Valley. The owner, John, was prompt in returning my call inquiring about the unit and very friendly. He even brought us freshly picked plums during our stay. I have stayed at many hotels in the area over the years and will stay here from now on! For the same price as a not-so-great hotel, you get a really nice 2 bedroom apartment - can't beat that! Was very nice to have driveway parking, as well. The only slight negative is the traffic noise during the night, as I like to sleep with the window open. But I just closed the window and turned up the ceiling fan and was fine. We'll definitely return to Shady Oak!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Shady Oak. The apartment was spotless and more spacious than we thought. We were pleasantly surprised to see that John and Sue had the kitchen stocked with all different spices as well as coffee and tea. The kids really enjoyed the coloring books and puzzles in the closet. They've definitely thought of everything. We had a great time and would recommend Shady Oak to anyone.

Perfect Rental in Beautiful Santa Ynez

We live in Santa Ynez and have rented Shady Oak several times over the past few years to house guests visiting from out of town. The location is ideal because of the proximity to beautiful downtown Santa Ynez. It is also important to note the two bedroom apartment is extremely inviting and impressive. All of that is appealing but what I might like best about this rental is the ease of communication with the owner who pays attention to details but is never intrusive or overbearing. The rental is located next to the owner's home so he is available to answer questions or attend to the needs of the guests but otherwise you feel like you are a million miles away from people. Clean, quiet, beautifully decorated, great location and perfectly managed; what more could I want in a vacation rental?

4 of us stayed in this nice apartment to spend the weekend in the local area. Attended a local vineyard event, wine tasted and enjoyed staying in this centrally located property. The accomodations were very pleasant and the photos depicted the property accurately. Owner delivered a bag of coffee to us which was appreciated. Would definitely stay here again.

I highly recommend this place! The owner is very friendly and easy to work with. The place was very clean and ready for a week with wedding people coming and going. The rooms are a nice size and the kitchen has plenty of storage for all sorts of food. We did not use the gas fireplace was just beautiful! Close to everything without being in the thick of the busyness! We loved it and will use them again when we come back there!

My husband and I wanted a quiet retreat to wine taste and fine dine and we were able to accomplish all of this during our stay in Santa Ynez. The accomodations were very pleasant and the photos depicted the property accurately. We will return for another visit if available.

The apartment exceeds the quality of the pictures. The location in the middle of the Ynez Valley makes
it perfect for exploration. We were 3 men cyclists and the apartment allowed for ample space for everyone. The owners could not have been any more hlepful during our stay. I would recommend the apartment to anyone who likes nice restaurants, wine, cycling, hiking, beauty and comfortable accomodations. Personally we ate breakfast at the apartment, rode our bikes, rested, tasted wine at the many local wineries, dinners at quality local restaurants and a good night sleep at the apartment, Repeat for 5 days. Now we are planning our return. Thank you for your hospitality!

Can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Shady Oak! Only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer. Loved the location, it was peaceful, clean and had everything we needed and hosts/owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Truly exceeded our expectations!
The past few years we have traveled in Marcy to the Santa Ynez area for a week of cycling and I sure hope Shady Oak is available for us in 2013!
