Brevard Cabin Rental Photos and Description
Spacious lodge style elegance, 3 beds, 2 baths, 2 story ceilings, sleeps 6

Come and tour our 'Land of Waterfalls'! Area attractions include our Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway, Biltmore Mansion, rafting-kayaking-fishing down the French Broad and Davidson rivers and lakes Jocassee and Toxaway. Children will enjoy our Cradle of Forestry and the Fish Hatchery! Check out many premier biking and hiking trails in our seven state parks including Gorges, Pisgah, Dupont, Caesars Head, Natahala, Great Smoky Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Brevard and Asheville offer shops and antiquing, restaurants, seasonal festivals, and more.

The log cabin has two bedrooms, two baths, a loft with a futon, an open two story sitting room, separate dining and kitchen, and an open two story sun room/den. The large sun room is marked with a 20 foot stacked river rock fireplace (from our stream) seen through the 10 windows facing your approach to the property. The interior reflects a lodge style with custom Idaho log bed frames and antique furnishings. WIFI too! Brevard 17 mls, Sapphire 12 mls, Rosman 8 mls...

Michael and Stacy are the owners of this one-of-a-kind log cabin situated south of the Blue Ridge parkway overlooking Lake Jocassee. We are both classical musicians which we enjoy now primarily as a hobby. Michael a professional flutist for 20 years and Stacy an opera singer for the past 12 years. We enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the land surrounding the cabin and Brevard. Stacy spends most of her time in the garden fussing about and Michael with a honey do list...

Stacy Stephens purchased this cabin in 2002

When we first drove onto the bridge and saw the cabin and its environs we went crazy. It really is a story book setting and hard to photograph. The sound of the water falling and moving is never ending - almost like sitting next to the ocean. When we are there the rest of the world is gone and the peace of the landscape inhabits our minds and beings. Brooksong is its own little secluded world.

What is unique is the water, seclusion, and the beauty of the log cabin itself. The interior is warm and inviting. Many furnishings are antique, unique, and some made by Stacy and her 84 yr old shop teacher friend Walter. Rooms are spacious with three rooms for gathering - 24x16 double vaulted ceiling sun room with 10 windows, a double vaulted ceiling den next to the dining room and kitchen, as well as a loft with a desk and log bed futon. The covered deck is also large and a great place to eat, relax, or to watch the rain feed the waterfall and streams.

We have fallen in love with your amazing "Brooksong Cabin". The beautifully furnished house, amazing landscaping surrounded by a babbling brook...and to top it off with the incredible waterfall.

We have been blessed by your generosity to share your slice of heaven with us. We have never felt more at peace with nature and relaxed.

We hope to return again!

What a blessing!

I found Peace at the waterfall.....

What a place you have here! The waterfall, creeks, the porch. Our most difficult time here was leaving the comfort of the porch. The birds at the feeder are awesome. I found Peace at the waterfall meditating in the mornings. Oh, but now back to the real world. Will be back here again

Absolute paradise

This was the third house we have rented in the Brevard area, and by far our favorite. It was my family of three and another couple. The set up of the house was perfect for traveling with another couple as the two bedrooms are on different floors. Everything was modern and well maintained within the house.

Outside was spectacular. My family, who normally runs from sun up to sun down, spent a day just relaxing outside on the property. The waterfall is much more impressive in person and the porch on the back of the house was the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking. We loved the fire pit and actually cooked our dinner over an open fire one night.

Definitely follow the directions that you are sent with your confirmation as there is no cell service on the mountain. The gravel driveway is steep but we were able to get up the driveway without four wheel drive (not sure that would happen in the winter though). We were also able to bring our dog who loved being able to run on the property.

This cabin is definitely our first choice in Brevard.

Owner's Response: Thank you Mary for your kind words. What wonderful guests you are! Yes, the waterfall is impossible to photograph... even with my 6 foot husband Michael standing on one of the rocks below!

Remote, peaceful, scenic, roomy cabin

Enjoyed our stay. Peaceful, remote area. The gravel road was well maintained and not extremely steep or curvy. The top of the driveway was a little steep, but nothing like some of the others I've seen. Our family met my goal of eating every meal outside on the beautiful deck! (We did pack a picnic one day and ate outdoors at Whitewater Falls.) Especially appreciated being provided with all the basics we needed, like kleenex and dish/laundry/bath soap, all towels, etc. The kids enjoyed the popsicles and graham crackers that you left. The only downer was that the DVD remote was missing, but luckily we had our own portable player. We didn't have cell phone coverage in the area, so be sure not to rely on cellphone maps. The kids were so happy to have Wi-fi. Very nicely landscaped, and the flowers were in bloom for us. It must be a lot of work to keep the place up like that.
Lots of waterfalls in the area, but a little ways to drive to see them. We saw 10. I bought a North Carolina Waterfalls book online (by Kevin Adams), which gives directions to some lesser known falls in the area. While at the cabin, we saw Toxaway 5/10, White Owl 7/10, Whitewater 10/10, Rainbow 10/10 (a 3.5 mile or longer hike), Turtleback 6/10 (1/4 mile past Rainbow), Diamond Creek (Skip this one- no parking & not visible from one lane gravel road), Lemon (the trail you want is the one by the rock), Mill Shoals 5/10, Bird Rock 7/10 and Eastotoe 8/10. My favorite was Bird Rock Falls which is a short hike from Mill Shoals. Eastatoe Falls is a really close awesome private waterfall in someone's backyard that allows visitors. From US 64, dive 3.4 miles south on US 178 and turn right into a private gravel driveway between 2 ponds at a sign saying Mountain Meadow. Park to the left of the house. It's even closer to go Old Toxaway Road to 178 (right-South). Many more waterfalls in the area we didn't get to yet. I would recommend this cabin to a friend/relative.

Owner's Response: We are so grateful to have Jennifer's review. What a great list of waterfalls! We found the missing remote and returned it to a visible place! If the cabin is not rented we owners try to stay there to enjoy the atmosphere, gardens, and water. The work in keeping up this enchanted place is truly a joy.

A note before we leave the cabin

I just wanted to drop a note and say thank you. Our kids and grand kids have just left to head for home. We had one of the very best weekends ever. We could NOT have met at a better place. The atmosphere is like non other. The cabin is such a peaceful place. Our two oldest grand children loved for us to play with them in the stream and we all loved the waterfall. Sitting on the benches at the bottom was so very relaxing. We will be getting up early to start on our long ride home but just wanted to drop this note while I was still here. Thank you. This place is like non other.

Who would want to leave!

What an adventure!! Every year the family fills up the truck and drives north for the holidays. This year was no different. We were welcomed into this homey cabin - much needed after not knowing the tricks to arriving to so much snow. The grounds were covered with 3-4 inches of snow "at least" on our first night's arrival. Everyday we made breakfast, sat as a family, and enjoyed the house. With so much snow around us, we wanted to stay on the grounds - which became a blessing. We visited the waterfall numerous times, made snowmen, and even made a BBQ :-).

The stay was truly a memorable one. We have taken more than 300+ pictures in the house alone. With the premises being so gorgeous who would want to leave!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us! I can't think of a more peaceful and relaxing way to spend our anniversary! We love the waterfall, the stream and relaxing on the porch. The waterfalls here are beautiful, and we had a great dinner at the Quarry. We hope to return next year.

To come back to peace and love.

WHAT A ROMANTIC GET AWAY! We left the busy life of children, intensive care nursing, and the Afghan war to come back to peace and love. Thank you so much. Hiking the falls was awesome. We also went white water rafting and ate out twice. We felt like we were in heaven when we came back - lit the fire and had a glass of wine. We will be back!

What a magical, peaceful place!

What a magical, peaceful place! It is the perfect setting for spending time with family or just relaxing on the back porch with a cup of coffee. We loved listening to the sounds of the brook and waterfall with the cicadas percussioning softly in the background. My grandaugther loved the hammock. Some of us hiked to the tall waterfall off Rock Creek Trail where you scramble down the hillside with the aide of a wooden ladder and some knotted ropes. It was definitely worth the effort. We visited Hooker, Triple Falls and Looking Glass Falls. There was also a wonderful family dinner at the Hob Knob in Brevard. One warm afternoon was spent tubing on a local creek. Thank you so much for providing the setting for such a memorable week! We would love to return to Brooksong sometime.
