How does anyone start with a review other than to say it is amazing! Coming from NY who makes several trips to that area each year, this has to be the best of the best. The location is PERFECT. The view is PERFECT. The house is decorated and furnished PERFECTLY. There is a calming energy to the house. I would sit in the living room in front of the window looking out at the Isle of Sholes and the water and meditate and do some yoga which you could not find a more serene place to do that other than sitting on the rocks in front of the house but was a bit too chilly for me to do at that point. The hot tub was extremely relaxing, although we couldn't be anymore relaxed. The master bedroom pictures on the site do not do it justice. There is a small table with two chairs in front of the window that you can sit and enjoy tea or breakfast with a view to die for and the bed was very comfortable. The last but not least was that Charles and his dog gingles were always accomodating and made your stay complete. We will certainly be back again and again. If you have any doubts, there arent any. Just GO. Thanks again Charles and we will see you soon.

Spectacular Winter Beach Respite!

5 of 5
Submitted: November 28, 2010 Stayed: November 2010
We just returned from spending Thanksgiving week at this lovely beach home. While it may seem strange to go to a New England beach in the winter, it actually was a lovely time to enjoy the quiet beauty of the beaches and ocean. We would highly recommend it, and this property is the perfect spot for a winter beach respite!

Charles has built an architecturally inspiring home with amazing views! These Midwesterners couldn't get enough of waking up to views of the surise over the Atlantic while stll in bed!

This home isn't "a short walk to the beach" or "near the ocean". Nope - it's absolutely "toes in the water" on the ocean! And Wallis Sands beach is a very easy walk, which we did multiple times each day with our dog for an off-leash romp. The beach is very dog-friendly this time of year and we met many other owners exercising their four-legged family members. Speaking of pets, Charles was more than accommodating and welcoming to our dog, who made friends with Jingles and Slink.

Another reason for a winter stay at this property - the hot tub! We used it three times in the late evening, enjoying the contrast of hot water and cool air. Seeing the stars overhead, watching the full moon reflecting on the ocean (yes, even the hot tub has an ocean view) and hearing the gentle surf soothes all senses.

Charles has outfitted this home with hotel-quality linens, towels and bedding. Other reviewers have raved over the master suite bed and now we can echo their enthusiasm. Something about its size, quality of linens/pillows, comfort of mattress and the view make this sleeping experience one of the best (and I travel a lot for work so have stayed at many 5-star hotels.)

The kitchen is well-outfitted as well, and the home has excellent internet availability/speed.

This property is a short, easy drive to Portsmouth for quaint New England shopping and dining. It is also accessible to I-95 for an easy trip to Maine for outlet shopping, lighthouse experiences, and more ocean adventures. We ventured to Durham NH, home to University of New Hampshire, for a wonderful meal at Three Chimneys Inn. As parents of a UNH student (our daughter), this location is ideal for a visiting stay, as you can get to campus in less than 30 minutes but enjoy a location with interest and beauty.

What more can we say? This property offers views/location, comfort and accessibility. You won't be disappointed!

My new husband and I spent a week at this wonderful Rye beach house for a "getaway" after our wedding as our honeymoon will be in the spring. We wanted a place on the water where we could relax. It was perfect and so beautiful. The house is great....clean and comfortable....the master bedroom was perfect. No matter where you are in the house, there is amazing views....you can always see the ocean.

Charley was great to deal with and we will definitely look to rent there again...maybe even a weekend in the winter.

Bethany (northern NH)

Charley even welcomed our dog, Bob, who loved it as well:)

Spectacular Vacation Home

My June vacation at this wonderful summer rental was better than I could have imagined. The accomodations were outstanding. The upper story is a suite with a gaint bed and the most luxurious sheets, a comfortable recliner in which to read on rainy days, a bath with washer & drier and a refrigerator. The walk in closet is big enough for another bedroom! I loved to wake up in the morning to the sound of the waves lapping the rocky shore and look out on the ocean.

The main room has comfortable furniture and great views. My favorite room was the dinning room/kitchen. I loved to sit at the table and look out through the large windows at the activity of the lobster boats, sail boats, and ships sailing into Portsmouth harbor. On clear days I could see the Isle of Shoals.

The deck outside with very nice furniture was also very comfortable. I spent many hours enjoying the views and the ocean air seated at the table under a big umbrella.

One of the greatest things about this house is Charles. What a great owner. He was always helpful without being intrusive, and he maintained the lawn and garden to prefection. I really enjoyed talking to him. He was wonderful to my niece and her family when they visited. By the end of my stay I felt like I had made a new friend.

The location of this beach house is also a plus. It is located on a quiet section of the New Hampshire coast. But it is within walking distance of a nice beach, close to stores and restaurants and a short ride away from downtown Portsmouth. I am counting the weeks until I return next summer.

If you want to experience life at it's best in beautiful surroundings, peace, joy, comfort and many smiles, then this is the house for you. And if you don't mind a friendly welcome (who wouldn't?) from Jingles, Charlie's loveable dog and a purr or two from Slink his cat, then you better hurry and get the opportunity of staying at this super clean, picture perfect home overlooking the beautiful ocean. Charles maintains the house to perfection. His gardens are well groomed and is a playground for the many beautiful birds, butterflies and chipmunks that entertained us from every window of the house. If you are one of the lucky ones (we were), you may have a chance to get a taste of the pole beans that Charles grew in his vegetable garden and gave to us to compliment our dinner one night. They were awesome on the grill as he suggested. What a host! Great down to earth guy. If there was anything we needed, he was there to assist us. But there really wasn't anything we needed. He had it all there for us already. The house has everything and more. Beautiful paintings, decorations, nice carpeting, floors...you wouldn't think this house was pet friendly. The decor was just beautiful. The king size bed was so big that at times I thought I was sleeping by myself. (no kidding!) It was huge and so comfy! The downstairs bedroom has twin beds that I couldn't resist trying out before our guests arrived for an overnight stay. Very comfortable. Oh, did I mention the house has 3 TV's?? Both bedrooms and the livingroom have TV's! I was expecting 1 TV but was sure glad when we arrived to see 3. The linen is top quality, including the towels. Plenty of them too. The hot tub was fantastic. It really was a plus to have this right outside our door. It was so much fun. The deck has a beautiful patio set with an umbrella. The deck floor is made with a high class plastic material - not wood. You won't get splinters on your feet! The railings, of the deck are made of wood, however the panel sections around the deck are made of glass. This deck was well designed. While lying on my lounge chair on the deck, there was nothing obstructing my view. There is a cute stone staircase across the street leading to the beach area. I found out from Charlie that he made this. I called it the "Stairway to Heaven" as this place is truly Heaven to me. We felt sad leaving this home and saying good bye to Charles, Jingles and Slink but we will surely be there again next summer. Sue, Kevin, Pal & Tina

We had a peaceful winter getaway at this beautiful home. There are views from every window, and the sunrises are spectacular. Charles has provided everything that you may need for a stress-free vacation. The hot tub was terrific, particularly when a gentle snow was falling. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we rarely ventured out. We enjoyed walking Wallis Sands beach, which is just a short walk from the house. Enjoy!

We just returned from a week's stay and can't wait to go back!
This house has everything - green, grassy front lawn and large deck overlooking the water for sitting, sunning and watching the boats go by; a sandy beach just a short walk away, and convenient locale to hiking trails, downtown Portsmouth as well as scenic drive along route 1A to Hampton. There are ocean views from every room. We were in awe at the sunsets we caught from the large kitchen windows! The house is well maintained, very comfortable and clean and has all the amenities you could need. There is almost no reason to leave the house!
