Located in the exclusive Tulemar Bungalows resort in Tulemar this 1 bedroom bungalow is perfect for smaller groups.
Tulemar's spacious 645 sq. foot Bungalows provide all the comforts of home only, perhaps, with a better view! Each Bungalow is equipped with a small kitchenette (mini-fridge, microwave, sink, 2 burner hot plate and coffee maker) an air conditioned living room with a single size sofa-bed, and an air conditioned, master bedroom with two queen size beds and television.
While there is no outside terrace, the octagonal design of the Bungalows was created so that you have a special view from every window in all directions, and all the windows open completely to allow the outside to virtually come inside. The Bungalows are immersed in the jungle with great ocean views and lots of wildlife 'visits'. These bungalows were built in the late 1980's and may seem a little dated, but they are clean and well maintained.

We stayed in the Tulemar Bungalows at the end of March 2012. They were delightful in every way. My husband and I and two children shared one bungalow and there was plenty of room. It was great to have a mini kitchen for fixing quick meals for the kids and snacks. The views were breathtaking and we felt like we were in paradise. My parents stayed in a bungalow next door and it was fun to have our separate spaces but to be so close as well. The private beach was amazing. It was never crowded (even though we were there in a peak spring break week) and we were well tended to with lounge chairs, beach umbrellas, kayaks, boogie boards and food and drinks. The waves were fun, but there wasn't a strong undertoe which was good for my kids. It was a long hot walk from our bungalow to the beach, but we only had to do that if we really wanted to. Otherwise the shuttle was very dependable and convenient. I recommend the walk though. Everyone I spoke to who did it saw a variety of wildlife including a gang of white faced monkeys! Restaurants were near by and if the resort shuttle wasn't too busy they took us so that we could avoid the cost of a taxi. I would love to go back some day and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special place to stay!

Recently spent 3 nights staying at the Tulemar Bungalows and I would definitely recommend to all. The property itself is built into the natural surroundings and maintains the feel of being in the rain forest while providing the amenities of an upscale resort. During our 3 days there we saw multiple monkey species, snakes, 2 and 3 toed sloths as well as a variety of other birds and insects. In addition the property provides access to a private beach that provides great amenities as well as great swimming. In terms of the properties you may be close to a neighbor but for the most part you do have privacy. If possible I would recommend getting a property with a deck. Finally you are close to dining and entertainment options (walkable depending on how far you are from the entrance).

Our concierge, Chris, went above and beyond.

We stayed at the bungalows for three nights. First of all, our concierge, Chris, went above and beyond. When we arrived at the airport, he picked us up, took us around town to show us the local sites, went shopping for food with us, took us on a 40 minute tour of the property, and then helped us take the luggage into our room. It was obvious that he showed pride in his work and the property.
The pros
- good, clean room
- excellent internet
- the private beach was excellent. We boogey boarded all day on our last day in Costa Rica.
- concierge service was excellent
- walking distance to many restaurants
The cons
- the pools were so-so. This was more due to people going on excursions and not being there during the daytime. At night, people are so exhausted that they either go out for dinner or just head off to sleep. As a result, there wasn't much in the way of socializing.
- everything requires walking up a steep hill. There is a free shuttle from the beach, but if you leave from your room to go out for dinner, it is a very steep walk to get to the resort's entrance.
The pros

Saw more wildlife than in the rain forest tour. Nice beach with good boogie boarding and kayaking. Great concierge service, we loved Chris. Book with Dave. He is awesome.
There are plenty of good restaurants nearby with free shuttle service.
Definitely eat at Sanchos for mexican food - within 1/2 block, outstanding fish tacos.

The views from the bungalow were unmatched.

We stayed in the one bedroom bungalow. It was amazing and perfect for our family - boys ages 8 and 6. The views from the bungalow were unmatched. The private beach was absolutely perfect for a beach vacation with children... They provided everything we needed to enjoy full days at the beach. The service was awesome and the prices for food and beverage were manageable. I will agree with other reviewers that the bungalow was outdated, but if you know that going in and are willing to overlook that and be appreciative of the amazing trip you are having, it is totally fine. I enjoyed having a kitchenette to have our own meals. Our room was a little dirty the first day we arrived, we called our concierge and that was fixed when we came back from the beach that day. I would recommend this place to anyone and do hope to return another time.

The beach is nice, and it is private.

We stayed at two different bungalows during our 7 night stay. Even though the bungalows look the same from the outside, they are dressed differently. Our first one was really nice, with an amazing ocean and jungle view, and the bed was great, AC worked perfect, bathroom nice and clean. There were also pots and pans, salt and pepper for cooking. The trees around this bungalow made it somewhat private, where I didn't have to close the blinds or went to the bathroom to change. We loved how spacious this bungalow felt and everything else was just great.

Everyone provided great service at Casa Panoroma. Vanessa was extremely helpful and quick to reply through email to any questions we had leading up to our visit.
Bill our concierge was amazing. He went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable, convenient, and phenomenal as it could be. He is an extremely personable man and goes out of his way to make you satisfied. Diego the house manager was also great with recommending and booking us with great excursions.Our favorite was Rafiki Resort white water rafting.
The private beach at Tulemar is nicely maintained, never busy, and provides plenty of shade, beach chairs, and complimentary towels. After going to Manuel Antonio you really appreciate the privacy this beach provides.
Guermo the main resort van driver was also quite personable and a great help. The monkeys were a lot of fun to watch. The property is pristine! We had a vow renewal ceremony on our patio and it was everything we could wish for! The chef Chris made an amazing dinner, Was talented, and also extremely personable. Local restaurants are within walking distance. Agua Azul was our favorite for food and BarbaRosa for drinks. Make sure to grab some coffee and breakfast from cafe milagra.
We chose to have the staff do our grocery shopping prior to our arrival which was very convenient and an affordable service! We flew in from San Jose to Quepos and after speaking with others who took a van decided flying was a great choice and worth the extra money is possible.
The people in this town are very friendly and we always felt safe. We can't wait to visit again and hope to bring more family with us! Thanks so much to everyone who made this our best vacation by far!

I'm finally getting around to writing a review. Stayed a week back in January. I stayed at tulemar (actually a buena vista deluxe bungalow). The place was fantastic. The staff was great and extremely friendly. All of the concierges at tulemar go above and beyond to make your vacation great. The private beach is great too. Be nice to Daniella the bartender and she will treat you well. Ive stayed in many places and this resort is high on the list.

Loved the jungle and trails, abundant wildlife

We really enjoyed Tulemar. We had four families in adjacent bungalows and loved the jungle and trails, abundant wildlife, beach access and amenities, and the ladies and kids loved having the various pools and AC in the rooms on those scorching, humid days. Staff was very helpful and responsive. We had power go out on a room and lost AC in a couple of them, but the staff had someone working them quickly each time there was an issue. A larger fridge (just had minibar) would be a great addition to the rooms. Great setting and experience overall.

I felt like we were treated like rock stars!

I booked a Tulemar bungelow through Ed Houck at www.1tulemar.com based on previous tripadvisor reviews and we were not at all disappointed. I had read about the exceptional concierge service provided by Dave and his staff, so it was important to me to book thru him to make sure that we had the same experience - and we certainly did. Our family of 4 (2 daughters ages 9 & 12) stayed 6 nights in a bungelow with Chris as our concierge. I felt like we were treated like rock stars! From the beautiful exotic flowers in the room, to being suprised with plates of fresh mangos and warm brownies, the service we received was exceptional. Dave, Chris and everyone at Tulemar was very friendly and always available to help with tour or dinner reservations, to answer questions about where to find good souvenir shopping or anything else we needed. Having Chris as our concierge was like having a best friend on call in Costa Rica to help you with anything you needed and to give you HONEST advice about activities, dining, take you out for grocieries when you arrive and more. Our bungelow was spacious, clean and nicely airconditioned. We enjoyed having the small kitchen to prepare breakfast and lunch in. The private beach was a beautiful, uncrowded paradise with free lounge chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, sand toys, boogie boards and a great bar for drinks and food. Several excellent restaurants are within walking distance of Tulemar, so not having a car was no problem for us. We really enjoyed walking around the trails looking for wildlife and we easily saw 3 kinds of monkeys, sloths, lizards, crabs and a variety of birds. The plantlife on this property is amazing, including a large variety of fruit trees (bananas, mangos, starfruit, breadfruit, coconuts and even more). Honestly, we saw as much or more wildlife at Tulemar as we did at Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park. Our kids enjoyed playing in the beautiful pools here and some days we had them all to ourselves. The only negative thing about Tulemar was that we did not want to leave. I would recommend this place to anyone. Your only decision should be whether to stay in a bungelow or a larger villa/house on the property. Thanks again Chris and Dave for everything!
