Photos and Description of the Savannah vacation estate rental
6BR/4.5BA Estate includes 2kitchens/2LvgRms&2Crtyds! slp 17 in beds-no pullouts

Stylish luxury & antique ambience blend perfectly w/21st century convenience to form the Taylor Estate. You'll find our historic Estate is the perfect 'home away from home' as you LIVE in Savannah's coveted downtown! The handsome Manor and its Cottage (formerly this was the Carriage House to the original Manor built in 1870). Both Manor & Carriage were restored in 2001 by us, the current owners, & we renamed the CH, Taylor Cottage. We now live next door but used to live in the Estate! You'll enjoy all the activities & sights of Savannah's historic district right from your doorstep! The homes are both decorated with thoughtful, homey touches amid a stylish ambience & has everything you need to make your stay complete. Having raised our children in the Estate, we know your needs & pay close attention to keep it well-maintained. High cleanliness standards are enforced. A stay in the Taylor Estate will never feel like a vacation rental 'house', but always a 'home'. Simply because the Estate was never intended as a 'rental'! It was & is furnished as a 'home'. EG: not a sofa sleeper anywhere! All ten comfy beds sit cozily within their own uniquely themed bedroom! Framed pictures of my ancestors line the stairwell of the Cottage. Family heirloom antiques as well as even the 400 year- old wood countertops of the Manor kitchen have their stories. We believe in serious comfort....so you will find everything you need & want at your fingertips. Plus Beds & soft leather couches are comfy, comfy, comfy! :). Large groups or small will enjoy the flowing traffic pattern /floorplan of the Estate and the convenient ease in meandering betwixt both Manor & Cottage. High ceilings, tall windows, & a roomy floor plan bequeaths a spacious airyness to each room of the Taylor Estate. Closets are large! We're pet friendly and...hypoallergenic! Instead of musty, heavy carpets and drapes, you'll enjoy sunshine spilling past light/sheer curtains and plantation blinds. As said, Antiques will delight. While the Estate's stylish decor, comfortable beds and amenities (in a home well over 130 years old) easily gives our Guests that sense of 'Savannah' that you miss with a stay in a hotel... we also believe that 'true comfort' mandates modern 21st century amenities! :) For bathing, you'll enjoy two jetted tub/shower combos, a 6 foot claw tub/shower, and handicap-friendly walk in shower. (There's an outdoor HotTub as well). We provide Guests with enjoyable high-end appliances including two Washers, three Dryers, two Microwaves and two Dishwashers. Ceiling Fans are in every room. Central AC/Heat. Two charcoal grills in the shady furnished courtyards. 4 car driveway. And entertain yourselves w/free WiFi access, board games, Nintendo, 5 TV/DVD/VCR's and a small book/DVD/VCR library.

The four 'themed' bedrooms are on the second and third floors of the Manor. The Living and Dining room feature two decorative marble fireplaces. A wide archway separates the Living & Dining Rooms. Enter through the front door and head past the handsome marble foyer with it's high ceiling'd chandelier. Pass along past the half bath and breezy passthrough of the Living Room to the huge 'Cooks' Kitchen in the rear of the Manor with its faux french doors leading out onto the Bilevel Deck and Hot Tub with the furnished patio below. Amid flowering folage, the comfortable iron umbrella table and chairs allow for enjoyable nights. The rose arbor leads to both the driveway and rear entrance of the Cottage. Just follow the winding brick path and you're only steps away from both.

The Cottage (formerly the Carriage House to the Manor) was painstakingly restored using handhewn craftsman-style technique. Because it is self-standing (no shared walls or ceilings!), & it provides its own entrance off East Jones Lane as well as a rear courtyard entrance, it allows for intimate cozy privacy for those in your group that want that. With its delightfully decorated kitchen, polished wood flooring, quality bedding, spacious pseudo-loft designed master bedroom, stylish bathrooms, charming first floor bedroom, and luxurious soft leather furnishings with a decor that evokes thoughts of an italian villa... you will be reluctant to leave daily. Meandering between the Carriage House and Main Manor Courtyards is easily accomplished yet, due to the angled location of the two courtyards, each offers foliage bedecked privacy. In addition, the Carriage House is HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE AND features a discrete access ramp as well as first floor bath and bedroom and a walk-in shower / grab bars.

Possibilities abound for this lovely Estate!

Rent just the Carriage House for groups of 2 to 6;

Rent just the Manor for groups of 6 to 11..... or those who want 4 separate bedrooms if your group is smaller.

Rent the entire Estate for groups of 17.... or those wishing for 6 separate bedrooms.

The Estate is perfect for reunions, girl or guy 'getaways', girl scout troops, church retreats, families and wedding parties. As we said, we provide convenient Wifi access throughout the Estate as well as board games, videos, books and even Nintendo for those times you want to refrain from sightseeing and simply....relax at home. And if you want to try a set of Tennis, ask us to borrow a racquet or two :) and head over to Forsyth. Afterwards, book a massage at the spa 5 min away or make an appt with our neighbor for her yoga studio next door. Or just relax in the Outdoor Hot Tub on the deck of the Manor while the rest of your group enjoys coffee and conversation amid the umbrella table and chairs in the patio below or balcony off the Master Bedroom above. You get two kitchens for the price of one in the Estate! Two charcoal grills...two courtyards...two laundry rooms...three dining areas...3200 square feet goes a long way for your group of up to 17! Or throw in some sleeping bags and we'll consider groups as large as 20 - 22 if children are involved :). As said, the kitchens both are fully stocked with all you need to cook, bake and eat! And there's only 1 full-sized grocery store downtown...and it's NOT close to the river but on the south end of the landmark district (which is bordered on the South end by Gwinett Street which means the north half of Forsyth Park down to the River comprises the original colony of Georgia borders set down in 1783 and which is considered 'easily' walkable. Outside those borders...its pretty much a 'hike' not a stroll or a walk. Disgruntled visitors who end up outside the Landmark Historic District thinking they're 'within' those borders...you got fair notice :)to be careful of the location. The Estate is a location ideal :). Well within the 'Landmark Historic District' borders it is 6 blks from the Kroeger grocery store, 3 blks from the Winery, North of Forsyth Park (4 blks), South of River Street (30 min walk), and surrounded by the Squares, Museums, Shops, and Stores. Linens and Towels are provided...just bring your suitcase and smiles!

Best of all...you can Rent each home separately. If your group is 1 - 6, you may want just the 2 BR/2BA Cottage. If you're a group of 1 - 11, you may want just the 4BR/2.5 Manor. But groups larger than 11 and up to 17 (possible approval for 17 w/children & sleeping bags :) will find the Estate....PERFECT! SO Come on and experience true southern comfort in the Taylor Estate. 96 reviews can't be wrong! ;). Oh...before I forget.

About Suzanne

My husband, myself, our two kids, cats, dog & my in-laws purchased, lived in & lovingly restored the Estate in 2001. Because we never intended to rent it out, our appliances are high-end & 'quiet' so conversations plus life would be easy. We bought out our in-laws several years ago. We moved out of the Manor (after deciding to turn it into a vacation rental) to our home next door :). The former Carriage House is lovely. Realizing it would eventually be our own home (or one for our parents when they get too old to live alone), we outfitted it elegantly but sensibly with seniors in mind. Hence a discrete/camoflauged ramp access, wheelchair entryway, first floor bedroom/bath,elegant yet discrete grab bars, walk-in shower w/hand-held shower head, &opt. shower bench were priorities for us. Due to our love for animals, but dislike for animal hair...there is carpet in only one room in the entire Estate. We avoided upholstery and heavy curtains opting for soft leather, polished wood flooring, marble, stone, and tile. Now that our children are both in college...One at AASU and one at SCAD, life's different. Both were homeschooled since early elementary. Mike is a contractor. Restoring the home was a family project he headed up. So memories & sentimental love for the Estate( as well as our home 'next door' which was a part of the restoration) is quite strong.

Mike grew up Yankee. I was a California girl. Our two girls were Carolina Cuties initially. However, since 2000 they have proudly worn the title of georgia peaches! We love the South. We love the Lord. We love Savannah. No other city is as beautiful and we wish to welcome you as we were welcomed....with warmth and hospitality.

Our discounts also reflect our past because...

1. I am an AARP member

2. former Brownie thru to Cadette

3. my girls attend AASU and SCAD

4. Military are our heroes....so we offer 10% discounts for these...IF it's the person doing the booking who is the one who's eligible!

Suzanne purchased this estate in 2001
Why Suzanne chose Savannah

We moved to Savannah from North Carolina when my husband job had him traveling there. The landmark historic district is breathtaking and so incredibly walk-able! Everything you could want is walking distance and you are walking through squares with outdoor cafes, moss-draped spanish oaks, carriages going by, cobblestone streets, these gorgeous historic houses....loved it. But, initially we moved to a 'cookie-cutter subdivision' in the city. But, you can find those subdivisions in any city and Savannah, while nice as a small 'city' is not where I wanted to live....it was in the real, true Savannah...which is the 'landmark' historic district. (Note to the wise...the original GA colony borders is the

Landmark Historic District' and it goes from the River to Gwinett St (halfway thru Forsyth Park) & from MLK to Broad Street. Pass those street borders and you're not in for an easy 'walk' but more of a hike and some areas can be a bit...hmmm...sketchy. So be aware). Anyways....we bought a home in the Landmark historic district and have continued to live there while renting out the Manor and Cottage next door. So we keep close tabs on the cleanliness and that the homes are always well-kept and well-maintained. So much so that when we don't have a Guest in the Manor or Estate..I enjoy the outdoor Hot Tub ...immensely ;)!!! Yet another reason why the Hot Tub is kept VERY sanitary!

What makes this estate unique

Walking to everything! Antique Stores, Boutiques, funky shops and clothing stores will beat the malls everytime:). Plus, major chains and high end retailers are throughout the historic district as well. I love the quaint, outdoor cafes and the stylish restaurants- and strolling home under moss-draped oaks through the famous Savannah Squares. It's great taking the dog with us when we go for coffee in the morning. The friendliness of the people. The cathedral which is breathtaking. In fact, all the churches are incredible...so historic and beautifully built. The trees....I can just go and drive, bike, or walk, and stare at all the moss laden trees and the flowers in bloom and just feel the relaxation start seeping into my bones. The Savannah Theatre has a live variety show that is equal or excells those you'll find in Vegas, Branson, or even New York. You simply can't ask for a better place to live..festivals, street fairs, fireworks all summer long. Love it. Plus...the cuisine alone takes months to try to actually taste and try it all!

My stay at your home(It felt like I was at home) was great! The house had all the wonderful comforts of being at home. The rooms were decorated so beautiful and the beds were so comfortable. From the little touches of books to read and games to play to the huge comforts of televisions and dvd players, it made our trip to Savannah wonderful. The idea of having a complete kitchen with dishes and pans to having movies to watch, it was great. Thank you for having such an awesome place to stay within walking distance of so much of the city of Savannah.
