The house, grounds, & pool are fantastic, beautiful and immaculately maintained. The staff is incredibly attentive and fantastic in every way. Everything is well decorated, clean, comfortable -- perfect. It's really like being home with a great collection of books to choose from!
We stayed in a "full" house of 12 (including two teens and two kids) but there was so much room in the living areas, outdoor seating, terraces, patios, courtyard & pool that there was always an area where you were able to be completely alone with your book and your rioja/sangria,
Every bedroom and bath was in great shape and condition and the kitchen was a dream to cook breakfasts, a few lunches and a couple of dinners for the whole group. Several markets are close by in Gaucin and will likely have everything that you will likely need. Further away are some other larger markets that will have imported foods if you must have something from another country's staples.
We were told that the breezy and windy conditions for a few days of our stay were uncommon but even without them, I could not ever imagine needing air conditioning as the nights were beautiful with plenty of fresh air throughout the house and its numerous windows and screen doors. The stars over the pool were amazing (even with a full moon – 2013’s Super Moon -- for part of our stay)!
We spent a few days just exploring Gaucin (the castle, the park/mirador and the shops and artists) and spending time in Gaucin was a delight. Day trips to Ronda and the beach were easy too. We had arrived from a couple of nights in Grenada and departed to a couple of nights in Sevilla and Malaga but all of them would have also been able to have been day trips if you had wanted to put in the driving time by car.
Certainly try the great restaurants nearby too, we tried to find smaller more local haunts - in Gaucin, we enjoyed La Parrilla del Pilar, Casa Antonia, and La Taberna Del Zorro, and we also found, on A-369 near Benarraba, Meson Mirador de la Sierra which held a great family run restaurant - You won't get to enjoy Spain reaching the Confederations Cup Final with them but I'm sure there will be some futbol on their televisions to enjoy!)
As the last reviewer said, the website pics & descriptions don't even do justice - Finca Avedin is even better in real life. We'd love to be back now!
