Cute and comfortable little cabin
This cabin was cute and comfortable. You have to drive through a creek on a cement fording structure to access the cabin - this was not a problem for us because we drive a full-sized pickup truck. However, my sister-in-law who stayed with us drives a Mazda wagon and on the last day something in the creek ford popped her tire sidewall. And it rained alot and the creek level got high - but never high enough that we were unable to cross.
The bed linens are high quality and the beds are very comfy. The cabin is very quiet and there is just about NO traffic on the access road. Parking was something of a challenge with two cars but can be managed.
The kitchen was well stocked.
Somethings to consider, however: When we arrived the cleaning person hadn't done a very thorough job - there were spider webs - with spiders - in the corners of several rooms and it was obvious that the cleaning person hadn't dusted the furniture. Also, there were insect parts - including the severed leg of a spider - in the bed itself of the downstairs bedroom. I killed the little buggers and wiped out the webs and I'm hardly a phobic (we own a hog farm), but I had one nightmare about a seven-legged spider bent on revenge.
Also lacking in cleaning was the fridge - there was gooey dark stuff like spilled tea or soda in the freezer that I scraped up and a dead beetle in the fridge: Again, not an issue for us, but I can see where the squeamish would be offended.
The walk-in shower is very nice BUT the water pressure is abysmal - okay for a short-haired person but it was hard for me to wash and rinse my long hair.
The water pressure also means it takes rather a long time for the washing machine to fill up and the dryer is very, very slow - two hours to dry three pairs of jeans even AFTER we thoroughly cleaned out the lint trap area.
The recliner in the living area as pictured has been removed making living room seating rather tight. The couch seating is thoroughly sprung and likely on its last legs - I though it was comfy like that but my hubby was griping. .
As I mentioned, it was raining and the roof in the front room sprang an assertive leak. I let Linda (the owner) know immediately but it wasn't repaired during our week stay and continued to leak. We put bowls under it to help contain the drips.
We did NOT let the owner of the cleaning issues we found - we just cleaned it up ourselves.
We had a blast, though, and would stay again!
Owner's Response: Update: A new cleaning person has been hired, the chair that was upstairs has been placed downstairs so there is a couch and a chair in the living room, the roof has been repaired and does not leak. We have had a pest control company spray the cabin and is doing that regularly now. I was not made aware of these items being an issue so really did not have chance to take care of them.
