Relaxing and spacious retreat in central London

My wife and I visited from Boston for a week in mid July of this year (2013). We chose the flat for it's mix of central yet quiet location and spaciousness. It did not disappoint. It is exactly as described and the pictures are truly representative. The furnishings are well used but in great shape, it is clean and well equipped and we found it to perfectly fit our needs. We were a bit concerned about temperature since it does not have air conditioning and London was in the midst of a bit of a heat wave, but the breeze along the canal is nearly constant and is cool in the evenings. The flat was very cool all day long, even on the hottest of days.

Location wise, it is situated in a quiet neighborhood right on the canal (the picture is exactly what you see from the balcony - which is a fantastic place to sit and have coffee/breakfast in the morning or a drink in the evening). A short walk across the canal and to the West takes you to the Angel/Islington area with a plethora of buses, a tube station, grocery stores and many restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. Even shorter walks to the South or East get you to other roads with several bus options. You can get to just about any part of the city in a single bus ride from this location which we found to be very convenient (and the buses are a great way to see the city while traveling through compared to the tube). This includes a direct bus to the Heathrow express at Paddington Station.

Roger was very responsive during the entire process and made renting his flat extremely easy. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone interested in being centrally located, but not trapped in a tiny flat in a busy area of the city (all of which are just a short walk/bus/tube trip away anyway).

Stylish loft in Islington (North London)

I stayed in this loft twice last winter and loved it. The location is great for sightseeing in London, since it is located between three Tube stations, depending on where I was going. I found the Angel Tube station to be the easiest when I had luggage since it was a straight shot down the road with my wheeled bag. It's an easy walk into the commercial centre of Islington with its restaurants, markets, antique shops and a gourmet chocolate shop not to be missed.

The loft itself is quite stylishly decorated and very comfortable. There is a sweet little balcony over the canal where, even in cold weather, I enjoyed sitting out with a coffee and watching the scene. Even if the scene was just two swans.

While I mostly used the Tube to get around, there are also two Barclays bicycle rental stations quite near the building and I did try that a few times. I found the bicycles to be a fun way of getting around. I went to Spittelfields Market by bicycle and also to Brick Lane. You pay just one pound, then you get 24 hours of bicycle use and if you use the bicycle for less than an hour, the rentals themselves are free. So I would pick up the bicycle near the building and drop it off near mg destination 20 minutes later and repeat this on the way back.
