Bearway to Heaven is truly Heaven

Had a six family reunion in the Bearway to Heaven. Pretty much everything they mention in the description is accurate. One of the best family vacations we have ever had. Once you get through all the traffic it was great. Plenty of things to do close by. Awesome kitchen, plenty of room for adults and kids, close to the pool, and the almost daily bear visitation.
With that said there are some problems. Definitely need a subscription to Terminix to handle the centipede situation downstairs. Inside looks great but outside is definitely worn. Roof leaks in several places when it rains really hard. Upper railing is a little loose. Not going to fall off, but it definitely gives parents cause for concern. House sleeps 24, but only 2 garbage cans which doesn't come close to holding all the garbage produced.
Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our cabin. As this was our first season renting Bearway to Heaven after purchasing it in December, you were our 4th reservation, all the input is greatly appreciated. We invested a lot of time and money in the first round of renovations to make the cabin a place guests would want to come back to whenever they choose Gatlinburg as their vacation destination, as well as a place we would stay with our family and friends.
We were aware of the centipede invasion and had someone out there to address the problem before your arrival. Obviously the centipedes were much more resilient than the green compounds that were used. We did not want to use harsh chemicals right before a guests arrival. We will have a longer break after our guests leave this weekend and treat the property in its entirety to be sure the unfriendly visitors do not make a return appearance.
We have also had the railings checked and tightened or reinforced wherever necessary. The roof is something that we had checked in our inspection and re checked when we added all our new wood floors and carpet. We did not want to take the chance of any type of water damage. We were told that there were some ferocious storms and tornadoes while you were there and the week before. We have had a roofer out to look at the roof and that too is being fixed or replaced. We are waiting to hear from insurance.
The cabin was built in the eighties and had been owned by the same person for over 20 years. Needless to say, their taste and ours greatly differed. This is an ongoing process and we are scheduled to undergo another round of renovations during the upcoming off season. The outside design is truly a mid century retro design.
I thank you for your input, it has been of great value to us. I hope we will see your family on our reservation list for your next reunion. Oh, yea, we have also added another large trash bin and reduced the capacity of the cabin to 20ppl. You are right that 24 people is just too many for the good of our Cabin. Thank you for the way you handled the overflow. Your family was one of the most considerate tenants we have had in our short rental history.
