Great Property, But Not For Young Children
My husband and I stayed at this property for 5 days with our two sons, ages 7 and 2, while visiting friends in the area. This home is beautiful, clean and in a great location to all that Baltimore has to offer. The description and photos on VRBO are accurate. Kim and Kyle were very helpful in arranging our stay and gave us a thorough walk through of the property upon check in. There was more than enough room for our family so we were very excited!
A word of caution to those with very young children. The house is four stories, so lots of stairs. Plus, the master bedroom is on the TOP floor. The slats on these stairs are very wide. We learned on the first day that our youngest son (age 2) was able to fit through these slats, so we had to keep a very close eye on him and spent a lot of time blocking the landings with chairs, etc. to prevent him from getting onto the stairs and/or falling. It was actually pretty scary and an unfortunate concern I didn't realize we would have there.
After we checked out, I was also shocked to find out that they kept a fair portion of our damage deposit for what I would consider "normal daily use" with young children (fingerprints, crumbs). In 7 years of renting vacation homes with my children, I have never had this issue, so I was pretty disappointed. Apparently, when Kim and Kyle tell you to "leave the place as you found it," they mean "EXACTLY as you found it." Unless you and your family are immaculate renters, I wouldn't count on getting your entire "refundable" damage deposit back.
If we didn't have those two issues, I would have given this place a glowing recommendation. It would be great for adults and older families, just be prepared if you stay there with little ones.
