The property includes the main house surrounded on all sides by gardens. The large double-pane windows have an impressive view of Los Moros Bay. A large covered terraza is accessed from the living room. A massive stone fireplace dominates the living room. The large, fully equipped kitchen shares one wall with the back of the fireplace. The entryway, kitchen and one bedroom are tiled; the rest of the house has wood floors.
The master bedroom has a king sized bed, cable TV, and a lovely view of the bay. The second bedroom sleeps 5 :(two bunk beds and a single bed). In addition, there is a hide-a-bed in the living room that sleeps two. The cable includes, phone, tv, and internet connection.
My wife, Sonia, and I are retired elementary school teachers. I was raised in the Pacific North West, while she was born and raised in Chile. We met while I was in the Peace Corps in Ecuador and she was a language instructor and cross cultural coordinator for the Peace Corps in Ponce, Puerto Rico. We married in Ventura, California and soon after were accepted in a Teacher Corps teacher preparation program in New Mexico. We currently live 6 months in Chile and 6 months in Salinas, California.
Most of my wife's family lives in Concepcion, less than an hour from our home in Coliumo. We were attracted to this house because, like Salinas, it is near the ocean. In addition, Coliumo is a village, not a city. The peace and tranquility of the area gives it a special appeal.
There are so many to mention. We both love the garden. The house is surrounded by flower gardens, native plants and trees. Then there is the view from the bay windows or deck of the ocean. A special treat, nearly everyday, is eating lunch under the covered porch, with a breeze blowing off of the ocean and fishing boats passing our inlet. Sea birds add to the charm. This is truly the place to get away from it all; in the full knowledge that the attractions of the big city (Concepcion) are not far away.
