Photos and Description of the Gayhead - Aquinnah vacation house rental
3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, open kitchen, ocean view, very private

Wake up on one of the highest elevations in Aquinnah (marked as Molasha Hill in mid 1800’s coastal surveys), and watch the sun rise over the panoramic Atlantic view which extends from Squibnocket Point in the East to the Gay Head Cliffs (West) and overlooks Nomans Island. All this is visible without leaving the bedroom, living room sofas or the breakfast table.

Rest and take in the sun from the living room decks during the day or walk or drive to pristine Philbin Beach, the Aquinnah Cliffs or Lobsterville and West Basin beaches where world class fishing for Striped Bass and Blue Fish along Dogfish Bar or Devil's Bridge is legendary.

Take the On-call Ferry on foot or by bike from the West Basin docks to Menemsha for everything from fish & chips, ribs, grilled chicken and ice cream at the restaurants and fish markets to fine alfresco dining at the Beach Plum Inn.

Or cook in the home's gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, convection oven, gas burners, butcher block counters and center island, and watch the sun set over the Atlantic.

During late June and early July, the near full moon rises over the ocean and is breathtaking. Many Island rentals claim ''160 degree oceans views'' but this is the real thing. Under the starlit sky of the Milky Way, there is not another manmade light to be seen except the faint beacon of the Aquinnah Lighthouse and the commercial fishing trawlers that pass by in full view through the telescope in the living room.

Charming and tastefully decorated, 1600 sqft (+/-), two floor ranch with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, open kitchen to living room, downstairs den, laundry room, hardwood floors and ample parking is situated on 2 very private acres. It is a sanctuary setting with open fields and mowed areas to enjoy the outdoors.

Includes a private, deep water mooring in Menemsha Outer Harbor (West Basin - details available upon request), outdoor, multi-head shower, 47” Sony HDTV flat screen with Sony Surround Sound, Digital Cable, High Speed Wireless Internet, and ample outdoor furniture, towels and linens provided. Please see the following local links for a preview or send us an email for more suggestions and or concierge services if desired.

The Vineyard Transportation Authority (VTA) buses will pick you up at the driveway's entrance on the hour during the summer with routes to Edgartown, Katama's South Beach or Circuit Ave in Oak Bluffs along with all other Island destinations.

The perfect vacation

We have vacationed on Martha's Vineyard for years and after staying at this Aquinnah home, we feel we have finally found our spot. This rental is cared for like none other. Everything was up to date (including good sheets!), so we could enjoy the comforts of home while feeling very far away. The location was perfect, the home itself tastefully decorated, and secluded for optimal privacy. We enjoyed having access to the beautiful - and private - Philbin Beach, and loved the quick morning drives to coffee at the Chilmark store, and in the afternoon to get fresh fish in Menemsha. Although the deck and ocean view made us quite comfortable staying put! The homeowners have put great thought and care into their home, plus they were accommodating and easy to work with. If you stay in this home, you must give them the respect they give you, as they have many beautiful decorative home accents to be mindful of, particularly if you have children. We will be back to enjoy another week of relaxation at this Aquinnah gem.

A Charming and Gorgeous Getaway--Great find!

I had the privilege of staying at this property last summer. It is secluded and comfortable--I could not have asked for a better escape. The home offers breathtaking panoramic water views and the large deck offers plenty of space to see it from! Although the house is small, the space is well-utilized. We never felt cramped. The chimenea outside was great too. I always wondered how they managed to put it together. Philbin beach and the Aquinnah Cliffs are an easy bike ride (or slightly longer walk) away. Perhaps the most unique feature of the home is the enormous, multi-fauceted, outdoor shower with ocean view. What a treat after a trip to the beach!

It's also worth noting that the renters are very friendly and helpful too!
