Absolutely stunning!

Review Submitted: December 2, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
The mill surpassed everything we imagined - the photos really don't do it justice! 13 of us stayed there for the weekend and there wasn't one of us who could resist running around like a kid when we first got there to explore all the quirky features.

Roaring fires, squishy sofas, stunning interior, comfy beds..

Perfect for a weekend with (close) friends or family and would make a great retreat for a week with the pool and garden.

Without question the best S/C place we've ever stayed...can't recommend it highly enough.

Hen Weekending in Style

Review Submitted: May 13, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
13 girls looking for a stylish place to stay - we found it with The Old Mill! What a fab place to stay - beautifully converted with stylish interior design but at the same time a comfortable home from home. Us girls had a ball with the huge amount of space to hang out in, 'hen olympics' in the outdoor pool, cocktails in the lounge and all rounded off with a wonderful dinner cooked by Gary on the last night in the Mill. Sandra and Gary, the owners, couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating with planning the weekend and meeting our requirements. We will definitely be returning with partners and babies as The Old Mill tailors itself to a variety of gatherings be it family orientated or just a group of friends.

Stunning! Stunning! Stunning!

Review Submitted: April 30, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
18 girls descended on the Mill in mid April for a hen weekend and had an absolute blast! We had the perfect kitchen to gossip, cook and drink wine, the most gorgeous formal dining room, more sofas than we had time to sit on, stunning shower and bathrooms, a huge breakfast table to pour over the sunday papers, a gorgeous pool and a wicked trampoline.

Importantly over and above all the aesthetics is the ambience... it's truly like stepping into your own home as soon as you walk in the door. It's such a happy, chilled out property you feel like you are hundreds and hundreds of miles from hustle and bustle and stress.

It was perfect for a summer weekend with all the doors and windows open and use of the pool... but clearly would be as glorious in the depths of winter with the fires raging and a big stew in the oven.

It was great for a girls weekend away, definitely ideal for a family reunion for all ages, and yet cosy and intimate enough for a much smaller group. The 'shared' bedrooms in the tower didn't seem to bother any of the girls who stayed in them but we did make a mental note not to put our pregnant friend in room at the top of the tower (its a bit of a trek to the loo in the middle of the night!)

Amazing. Thank you so much Sandra and Gary you were lovely hosts and couldn't have been more accomodating.

(nb. I was almost tempted to not write a review. It really is the most stunning, welcoming and special property there is part of me that doesnt want anyone else to find out about it, so it's always available for me to use. (Shame on you the previous reviewers. This could have been our secret! x).

Stunning & fabulous

Review Submitted: March 2, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Found this property on a search engine and contacted the owners about availability. Sandra and Gary were so helpful and very friendly in attending to all of our requirements.

They have an absolutely stunning mill house with views to die for! Felt a bit of a kid when we first arrived for a long weekend - exploring all nooks and crannies until we discovered the fireplaces and once lit, kids off exploring, the adults settled down to a few drinks and nibbles and a brilliant chill out.

The village is really close, very friendly people and within touching distance of bigger towns such as Thetford, Swaffham and Kings Lynn. We ventured to the beach in glorious February sunshine and played football - this after a swim in the fab cold pool! Ate too much, drank too much but found this a great haven for relaxing, enjoying the surroundings and playing hide and seek.

If you do nothing else all year, get yourself to the Old Mill and unwind in a fab location. Twelve of us cannot be wrong!!

Enjoy.

Going the extra mile! Thank you

The Old Mill is the most amazing place, refurbished, furnished and decorated to the highest standard! A truly wonderful place to stay! 12 of us stayed for a weekend in Jan 09, none of us could quite believe the standard of accomodation. The photos of this property really do not do it justice, with underfloor heating, wood burning fires and a master suite to die for! We enjoyed a very memorable Burn's Night Supper in the atmospheric dining room seating 12 easily. Gary and Sandra couldn't do enough to make our stay an absolute joy, my partner and I had resigned ourselves to sleeping on pullout bunk beds for the weekend but upon arrival found a double bed had been fitted to accomodate us. Even when I called to explain our lack of towels an emergency supply was rushed across.
Thank you both so much for an amazing stay in an amazing property.

Our visit Kent
Review Submitted: January 19, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
Wow! What a wonderful place. We could see The Mill all lit up and did not need any further directions than the postcode, the beauty of The Mill was breath taking. The Master bedroom was grand and the underfloor heating fantastic. We enjoyed a fabulous meal around 'The Round Table' in the tower and the kitchen had just about every gadget you could need. The children loved their bedroom with the pop up Thomas The Tank Engine tent, furry caterpillars and all the books but I think the chocolate egg machine on the wall in The Tower won hands down, with the adults as well as the children. The garden was great for the children and the pool would be a wonderful feature for a summer stay. I even had to go and have a bounce on the trampoline in the rain, just so I could say I had been on it! Overall our stay was lovely and Sandra and Gary are just so helpful and make you welcome into a place that has obviously had so much go into making it what it is and another stay is definately in the makings.

We took a chance in throwing together a large group of girls who hadn't all met before at a venue that none of us knew, for an occasion that we wanted to be sooooo speacial. What can I say ...... ! The Mill was absolutely stunning and completely surpassed our expectations. The restorations have been so beautifully carried out and as others have said before us, we were literally running from one room to the next and gasping with delight! Thank you both for being so accomodating and for all your help in making our weekend as fabulous as it was! Really hope to be back again soon.

Magical Yuletide!

Review Submitted: January 4, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
Our first impression of the Old Mill was WOW! Beautiful decor, lovely tree and decorations, obvious care and attention to detail. Three of us arrived on the Saturday with the remainder of our party to follow over the next few days, with each arrival new excitement and pleasure in giving the 'guided tour'. The open fires, comfy couches, ambient lighting, beautiful tower dining area were all conducive to a successful stay for a large party - there were 9 of us and two dogs. The master bathroom was very romantic, a little like a boutique hotel. Owners were extremely helpful, pleasant and available. A larger freezer would have been useful as we did stock up for the Christmas week. Overall a wonderful stay and we would definitely consider returning. Highly recommended!

Most amazing weekend break ever!!!

Review Submitted: November 28, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
My husband booked Stokeferry windmill for my surprise 30th birthday weekend... he was the only one who knew where we were going as 13 of us were driving down from Yorkshire, and when we pulled onto the drive our jaws dropped!! It really is a stunning property (particularly when it is floodlit at night).
It doesn't stop there either, as you walk through the kitchen door... every room has been designed in a very stylish way and I spent the first hour exploring every room (about 3 times!) because it is so beautiful. I had four favourite rooms; the kitchen (as it is just like my idea of a dream kitchen), the circular dining room at the base of the windmill (a wonderful atmosphere for a special meal, when candlelit at night), the master bedroom (with it's walk in wardrobe area!) and the ensuite bathroom (with it's spa style bath and shower). The garden was great fun (just a shame that the heated pool had too much algae so we couldn't use it this time) but we loved the seating and the trampoline (even though we were 13 adults!!) There was not one thing that we would complain about. The members of our party who stayed in the windmill felt like it was a real adventure, and didn't mind the rooms being adjoining (that's the quirk of the building!) We were always warm, because the real fires fill the house with heat!

In conclusion, Stokeferry windmill feels like a home from home, from the moment you step into it, you feel like you live there (or maybe that's 'wish'!) It's a perfect location for a special occasion or just a luxury holiday break. Our friends and family that we took with us haven't stopped talking about it and how much they loved it. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. So thank you for a wonderful weekend!!

I think you know how special the Mill is to Gary and I, so to read reviews like yours and to know that the ' wreck' which we renovated mainly by hand is providing so many people with memories such as yours is very very rewarding...thank you
