Not as expected
My family of 9 stayed the week of July 6th-13th. Although the space was more than sufficient, everyone was disappointed in the property and the upkeep. The grass had not been cut, and was knee high in some places. There were no working floodlights between the two houses and exceptionally hard to maneuver between the two after dark, not to mention, unsafe. This made it less than pleasant especially after finding a Copperhead snake at the door of the main house, and two other snakes. The broken dining chair mentioned in a prior post was still broken. My nephew sat down and was lucky to not get hurt when the leg popped out from under him. The ants, also mentioned, were in both houses. There were NO washcloths, dish towels, shampoos or hand soaps. After looking everywhere for towels, they were found still wet in the washing machine. The air conditioning vent in the rear bedroom somehow leaked water, which dripped onto the bed constantly. The double bunk had apparently been broken as it was taken apart and one mattress propped against the wall and the bed frame on the rear patio. The bedspread in the master was coming apart and had a hole large enough to put someones head through. . The king bed in the guest house (not pictured) is a mattress on the floor-in this room one of the closet doors was completely off its hinges and propped inside the closet. There is a large deck and dock-however the dock is in serious need of repair. It is literally tied to the deck with a small rope, and the top step down to the dock is broken and boards llifted. Three of the lights on the dock were out. The waterfront area had so much trash, it was disgusting. I do not mean a can or bottle or two, I mean at least dozens and various other trash.. This area does catch the Atlantic and I realize the tide will bring in whatever people feel a need to throw in the ocean, however it should be picked up by maintenance or the homeowners prior to guests checking in. It definitely distracted from the view as the smell was pretty bad. It is a shame because the place has amazing potential and with a little TLC could be very nice. All this being said we did have a great time in the keys, kayaking, boating, snorkeling at Alligator Reef was a highlight, and eating at some great places (Island Grill was a favorite as well as Marker 88 for great sunsets and cocktails) and it was great having the family together in one location. However, if returning, I would look for other accommodations
