This rental was not at all what we expected. First of all, all of the pictures of the bedrooms are misleading. There was no comforter in the master bedroom or the bunkbed room. The 2 blankets that were provided did not cover even one person, much less a bed designed for 2. (why not show pictures of the bedrooms as they really look). The bunkbeds are futons and the other 2 beds are low to the ground platform beds with no boxsprings. When we arrived we were told that the water was not recommended to drink because it is well water and that we would need to go buy water. Great! Thanks for not letting us know that ahead of time. We then went to load up on a weeks worth of water for drinking and cooking. The place was just plain dirty (hair and grit all over floors and in drawers, smudge all over windows). I actually got on my hands and knees to clean the grime and smudge from the dining area windows. It is clear that a maid service is not used after each rental.Everyone has adifferent standard of clealiness. A maid service would rectify this problem. There was apparantly no garbage truck service. We were told to walk all the way to the trash bucket on the beach with our trash from the house. Really? All of the wooden chairs on the back deck look like they've been involved in a college bar fight. The leather couch in the picture is gross. It was sticky and looks beat up. The AC kept us up all night.The filter seemed so old and clogged that the system couldn't breath properly and was sounding like a small jet engine all day and night. We left after one night. The owner did offer us 5 free days to use between now and February. Thanks but no thanks!
Owner's Response: This guest had requested a refund due to bad beach conditions. The beach had a large school of fish that had beached the day they arrived. Although the county did remove the fish, these guests left the property after 1 day and did not notify us of their departure. When they did request a refund, it was weeks later. Our response was to give them a free week to use at a later date as a courtesy. We stand by the professional condition of the property. Any concerns these guests may have had about the property would have been resolved at the time of check in ,if they had been discussed during the walk through. We take our guests concerns very seriously.
We meet all guests personally and address any and all concerns our guests have at the time of check in. If considering this property as a potential rental option, please feel comfortable taking as much time as you would like during the check in process reviewing the condition of the property. We will stay and address any concerns our guests have.
