Photos and Description of the Lubec vacation cottage rental
Two Bedroom, One Bath, Sleeps 4-6

This cozy cottage is located on the beatiful South Lubec Sand Beach. Guests will delight in having complete beach priviliges, including your very own bonfires (firewood is available free of charge). Panoramic views of Campobello Island and West Quoddy Head are the backdrop to an eye pleasing experience. Sunrise is exquisite! Visit historical sites and enjoy the local fare. Shopping, hiking, birdwatching, whale excursions, sea kayaking, and golf are just a short distance away. Try fresh seafood in local restaurants or cook your own over an open fire on the beach. Clams, lobster, mussels, crab, scallops, etc...can all be purchased locally.

The South Lubec Sand Bar is known world wide for its unique migratory bird species. Tidal flux into an open marshland supports habitat for hundreds of endangered bird and plant species. Bald eagles soar overhead. The lower end of the sand bar is governed by the State of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Low tide (25-28 foot tidal flux) offers visitors a chance to forage for small crustaceans among the exposed seaweed encrusted rocks, or to build sandcastles in the wet sand. High tide allows those who are hearty souls a chance to swim (water temp during the summer months is 40 - 50 degrees)!

Walking the semi-private mile-long sand beach is an adventure everyone should experience.

A Charming Surprise

The pictures of this property do not do it justice. The house was charming amd very clean and inviting. I and three others had a relaxing and wonderful week's vacation. ( Be forewarned that if you are a Verizon customer with your phones, there is very little coverage in the area.) There is plenty to do, be it touring lighthouses, whale watching trips, checking out gift shops or just walking the beach collecting rocks before having a bonfire! Did I mention having fresh lobster whenever you want it? (The chocolate shop in downtown Lubec also provides fresh lobster by order!) I would recommend this property to anyone!

Beach dream

The cottage was at a great location, not far from town and activities such as whale watching, kayaking, biking, and hiking at the West Quoddy Lighthouse. On our whale watching trip we saw a Minke whale breaching 1 1/2miles is a rare site and Finback Whale. We loved spending frequent time on the beach and going out on the sand barge at low tide. The cottage was very clean with space for four people. You may not be able to use your cell phone in the local area except for emergencies, since the tower is in Canada. The internet is not wireless, and there wasn't a wire to connect, but check if owner obtained a wire. Deb was very helpful when I called. We highly recommend Uncle Kippy's if your looking for the best fish and great service. Cohill's is more a bar then a restaurant. I have recommended the cottage to co-workers.

What a Place!!

What an amazing place!! Very nice, cute and practical cottage with all the comfort.
But the Yard overlooking the beach is truly beautiful. the Beach is located right on a sand bar and we had a great time walking on it at low tide.
We were even able to have a clam bake right on the beach (picnic table on the edge of the beach provided) and the kids got to roast marshmallow.
There is so much to do in Lubec between the state park and Canada.
Deb and Paul are lovely people and could not have been more helpful.

Peaceful, relaxing and yet with so much to do..
