We can't speak highly enough regarding the location, condition of the villa and the warm and welcoming individuals we met while there. The property managers, Jim and Gina, were great and extremely helpful in making suggestions of things to do and places to go. The villa itself was beautifully decorated and recently renovated. The upstairs bathroom was so well done that our sister and brother-in-law took pictures for a renovation they are working on! The location was great as well - easy walk to shops and dining and right on the beach. We spent every afternoon by the pool or in the bay and I can't wait to come back!

We returned to the Villas again this year and stayed in Villa1 with another couple Feb 9-16. Two other couples stayed next-door. All I can say is that we loved this Villa and had a wonderful week. The Villa was very nicely furnished, clean, comfortable and well-stocked. We didn't "want" for anything. The owners and managers take pride in their facility and it shows. The recent renovations of the exterior are very nice and I especially enjoyed the new beach loungers. The pictures posted here accurately describe the Villa and if anything they don't do justice for the beauty of this Villa and the location on the island. Managers, Jim and Gina, were very helpful. We enjoyed being able to walk to restaurants and shopping and always felt safe on the island and at the Villa. We definitely recommend this Villa to others and hope to return again someday. We had the delightful honor of spending some time with the property owners and enjoying all that this little known paradise has to offer. We are Travel Professionals who know what to look for in a property and we can find nothing but excellence with this jewel.

The location is in a word, priceless and the charm and character of the owners unmatched.

We stayed in Unit #1 from March 3rd to 13th, 2012. The property is gated and has 12 units in total. The unit we stayed in is two storeys and is an end unit, which we liked because it provided extra privacy. It has two large bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms. There is a king bed in one room and queen bed with private deck in the other. The whole unit was nicely renovated and it was beautifully decorated, lots of white and turquoise blue colours, it felt like a beach house. Everything seemed new with a fresh kitchen (fully stocked), beautiful bathroom upstairs with a great shower and double sinks. There is plenty of room for 2 couples or a family. We were impressed by the modern amenities like a large screen TV and wireless Internet. Not that we spent much time inside, but there is a large AC downstairs and one in each bedroom. We had no problem staying cool when we wanted to and just needed to use the AC in the bedroom at night.

The view of the great bay was amazing with the beach literally at your doorstep. Each day we saw the cruise ships dock in the nearby town of Philipsburg. The town gets a good flood of tourists during the day and with it comes an entertaining beach side experience on the main boardwalk. There are lots of restaurants, bars, casinos and shops all throughout the town. Unbelievable prices on jewellery, alcohol, tobacco, perfumes, purses and shoes and very good deals at the bars. Also, there was this great convenience store located just outside the Villas, less than a block away called Suki's. It was busy every time we went there but I can see why as the store carries lots of the everyday necessities.

The island itself was great too. We heard that the island is 37 square miles and has 37 beaches! We visited some of them during our stay and loved the white sand and turquoise water. Most beaches offered a deal such as 2 beach chairs, umbrella and some drinks for a daily rental at really reasonable prices. A tip – make sure to take some buns or something to the beaches to feed the fish, great fun! Lots to check out, see and do. The time that we enjoyed most though was sitting out on the lanai at the Villa.

With fantastic views, a great location and a beautifully appointed home, this Villa on the Great Bay was a real gem and we'll definitely be back. We can't wait for our next visit!

Villas of Great Bay is a fantastic location to stay in Philipsburg. This is our 4th time back and it gets better and better with each visit. We had the privilege of staying in Villa #1 which has been recently renovated by very motivated new owners. Villa #1 is an end unit and right on the beach. Nothing is better than opening the sliding glass doors on the upper level in our bedroom while laying in bed and having a view through palm trees that overlooks the water. Relaxing on the new very large patio just outside the living room or bedroom and watching the Cruise Ships come in each day but yet far enough away that you don’t have to be in the hustle and bustle of all the people. Actually you can see the ocean from any room on the first floor. We were there with another couple and had plenty of room to move around but also privacy if we wanted. The new bathroom is to die for. Very large with a double sink and an open walk in shower. There is a skylight in the bathroom that just makes the bathroom so bright and open. The kitchen is very well equipped and we also enjoyed cooking on the gas grill. Everything has been renovated with very high end quality. The four of us enjoyed laying by the pool and just watching the view. The other renters of the Villas are very friendly if you want to socialize but you also have privacy if you want it. You can walk into town in about 10 minutes from the beach or take about 20 minutes by sidewalk on Front Street. Mangers Frank and Sandy will help you with anything you need from car rental, restaurants, shops, and beach suggestions. Frank delivers a newspaper to your patio each morning so if you choose you can still keep in touch with the outside world while vacationing. We could go on and on we were very happy satisfied renters for 11 glorious days. This is a place that you will want to return to time and time again. We definitely would ask for Villa #1 again. I shouldn’t be saying that because I want it available the next time we come. We don’t want too many people finding this wonderful place.

My husband and I just returned from our stay on St.Maarten. It was our seventh visit to St. Maarten and our second to the Villas. The vacation was everything anyone would want a Carribean vacation to be, and everything anyone would ever want in a Villa stay. Our rental unit, recently refurbished and redecorated, was truly a delight. The unit had every convenience, reliable, working internet, air conditioning, an updated, well supplied kitchen, beautiful linens, tasteful furniture, and a gorgeous bathroom with a generous supply of hot water! As advertised, it is an end unit, which affords additional privacy in this already private, gated community. True to their word, sitting on the lanui every morning with our coffee, we comfortably watched the cuise ships sail by before enjoying the pool, or the short walk into Philipsburg to banter at the local, colorful markets. Dinner was shared between cooking in (the kitchen was so accomodating) and visits to the popular local eateries. We used a shopping service to provision the unit before we arrived, with food and drink, and found "shopndropstmaarten" to be just the right service. It was a little rocky when we arrived. The delivery was late about 30 mintues and did not have the full order. Since we arrived and stayed over a holiday period, and the island shuts down during these times, the service was compromised. But, as the island work week began, the service came through and was worth the expense. A personal shopping service, everything we ordered was delivered and met our expectations as healthy and fresh. This made the afternoons at the pool in the common area fun, as we snacked and chatted with new friends. The common areas are anything but comon with the fabulous ocean breezes, palm trees and endless ocean views. Neighbors are sometimes vacation renters, sometimes owners, but always friendly and considerate of one another and the special time we are all sharing at the villas! Finally, there is an on premise manager, Frank, and his wife Sandy, who are there to help in any way. Not only will they help visitors navigate the island, they will address unexpected issues in the units (we didn't have any!) We plan to return again to the villas, and while staying at any of the villas affords a special vacation, we will be seeking this unit as our special "home away from home".
