About Bob Trombi

We built this first getaway a few years back because we knew that if we were to stay sane in such a busy world that we would need to have a place to go to and bring the kids to just get away from it all. We hope you enjoy this incredible spot!

Bob Trombi purchased this cabin in 2005
Why Bob Trombi chose Packwood

We built this cabin in 2005 in Packwood, one of the most beautiful areas of the country. In summer the beauty of the mountain is indescribable and in winter the skiing at White Pass is great for a family or an expert. We have been coming to the area for 15 years and we love it more and more everytime we visit.

What makes this cabin unique

Just the other day 3 cow elk came by with 4 babies, a bald eagle flew by, a fox trotted up the road, the sunset was amazing and there were more stars in the sky than I have ever seen before...and this is all in one day!

Everything described and more. We stayed here for two nights to celebrate an anniversary, it was wonderful. First impression was how clean and spotless the cabin is, it smells wonderful, nice wooden doors and cabinets. Elk came through property in the mornings, and it was peaceful even though it wasn't completely secluded (you could see neighboring houses, which weren't a big deal, but no real trees or seclusion on the property). We didn't see anyone the entire time we were there except the neighbor's dog who was very nice and friendly at the door lol, we told him to "go home" and he left. It's very close to town AND the national forest lands. We ventured off into the wilderness for sight seeing. Definitely was hard to wake up and go home on that last day!

The photos are accurate, the description is accurate. The reason we rated this at 4 instead of 5 stars was the lack of a microwave (even though the description stated one) and we had purchased microwaveable food for our trip so we didn't have to eat out, but we had to go into town and buy more. There were lots of ants randomly through the house, which is understandable in the woods, I assume previous renters maybe left the doors open. The biggest bummer was the hot tub cover being attached in the front, so you have no view of anything when you're sitting in the tub and relaxing. Overall, all MINOR things!

The owner was very attentive, we had dead remote batteries and called him to ask if there was any spare and he sent the cleaning lady over to change all the batteries so that was awesome and very nice of them.

I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone, we hope to be back for sure :)

Owner's Response: So glad you had a good time at the Mt View Cabin. The new microwave arrived the day you checked out. Our microwave of 8 years burnt out 2 days before you came and we had to order one. You are so right, gotta keep the screen doors closed. In the spring flying ants are looking to nest. Please come back and again enjoy the amazing Romantic Special spring getaway!

The cabin is super nice, comfortable but modern.
Close to town, yet you feel like you're out in the woods a bit; the elk come through at least once daily (and we were skiing, so never there an entire day).
Would definitely stay again!

Great Cabin In The Woods

My friends and I had a wonderful experience staying at this cabin over MLK weekend. Built in a very convenient location, all the amenities you need for a great vacation are a stone's throw away! Packwood, WA is a 2 minute drive and White Pass, WA is about 20 minutes away if you want to do some skiing/snowboarding in the winter. We had the most beautiful time in this unit. Bob and Sybille are very accommodating and everything was in place when we got there. The hot tub has an amazing view and this cozy little cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway. 5 stars, hands down. Thanks for a great weekend!!

Mother Visit to the Great Northwest

5 of 5
Submitted: July 27, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
July 9-10, 2011 visit- We wanted a place central to Mt. St Helens and Mt Rainier because my mother was visiting us for the first time from the east coast. We are a repeat customer and rented the cabin back in 2010 when we had our cousins visit. The cabin is great, there is a fire pit which we toasted marshmallows with our children and made s'mores. All amenities to fit our 5 family members. Hot tub was great and relaxing after a long day driving to the mountains. Beautiful view and area. Went to Northwest trek, then to cabin, next day to see Mt. St Helens and then following day drove back through Paradise and Mt Rainier. Elk always around and visible. Recommende for someone who wants to get away and enjoy the mountains.

I have rented this cabin every summer for the last three years. Meticulously clean, well maintained. Dealing with the owner was a pleasure. Great privacy with a beautiful view of the mountains and valley. And the elk grazing a few feet away... I'm going back soon.

Mountainview cabin was perfect

Thank you so much for putting together our reservation at the last minute. Being in a business where my schedule changes almost hourly, the ease and speed with which you set the cabin up for us made the whole experience top notch. The Mountain View Cabin was perfect. The views were incredible—from the surrounding mountains to the elk in the front yard—it was just what the doctor ordered. The furnishings were very comfortable—like walking into a home. I can’t decide what was better—sitting on the deck or in the hot tub—but either way this was by far a great weekend getaway. No more staying in hotels for us….I think we are going to check out the Alpine Chalet next!! Thanks again for great service and a great place to stay….and the hammock was an excellent touch ?

I have stayed at a few of Great Northwest Cabin's rentals and each one has been a wonderful experience. The memories with my wife and kids are priceless. High Quality care and love have gone into these cabins. I would personally recommend to anyone the Mt View Cabin. This cabin is very clean and cozy. The owner takes great lengths to ensure your comfort. We loved the books and info of the area that gives you the rundown of things to do. Great fun!!!

My husband and I came to the mtview cabin it was wonderful it was like having a home in the wilderness but yet close to town 1/4 mile away we went hiking and fishing in the low land lakes and caught silvers,
we will be coming back as soon as we can get into the highland lakes .we were 18 miles from whitepass ski resort where we went skiing it was so beautiful.
After a long day hiking we came back to the cabin for a hottub with a beautiful view and as we were in the hottub 3 elk came walking in the yard it was great cant wait to come back in the summer.
