Great apartment could use a little TLC
After reading the glowing reviews for this apartment, i was quite surprised to learn that it did not meet my expectations. We had purposefully chosen to rent an apartment over a hotel so that we could save some money by cooking our own meals. There were seven of us, three of whom were children.
What really surprised me was the lack of kitchen utensils. After two nights of cooking pasta, we were supplied with a colander and a functional frying pan. If you are planning on cooking, be sure to ask where the silverware is hidden, for a supply of dish towels and also how to get hot water. It is a very small and basic kitchen so be sure to plan for simple meals. It felt as though noone had ever cooked there before.
What i did not appreciate was the owner inviting us to leave on memorial day weekend when we were already in the apartment. His office manager had asked me to write a list of concerns which i did promptly to better improve their rental. All this apartment needs is a little TLC so that it feels like a finished product.
I do not think that we would rent this unit again or from this company again. After all, there is a huge selection for rental properties in the area.
Owner's Response: We are very proud of the comforts and features of our units, and provide detailed descriptions and photos that showcase the beauty of every one. Thus, it is unfortunate this apartment did not meet this guests’ expectations. It is also a contradiction, since the guest did ask to extend their stay with us days after they checked in. To address the items in this review, there was hot water in the unit. The faucet is a modern faucet design which the guests were unsure how to use, but later figured out. The kitchen utensils were in one of the kitchen drawers, which were later located by the guest. Dish towels were available in the unit. All available amenities, including kitchen utensils, are on our property listing to browse prior to arrival. A colander was not one of the items listed; however, we supplied the guest with a new one upon the guest’s request.
The above concerns were expressed to us the evening of their second night’s stay, along with the threat of a negative online review. We take great care of our guests and address any customer’s needs immediately. Waiting until the second night to communicate issues, while simultaneously threatening to write a negative review does not provide us that opportunity.
Because the guests were still unsatisfied after we addressed their concerns, we offered to assist them in finding a property that would be a better fit - even if it was with another company. That offer was refused. It is mentioned in the review they did not appreciate being asked to leave; however, the fact that this was a response to a request to extend their stay beyond their check out date was omitted. We could not accommodate this request as there were new guests arriving the same day - guests who left us 5-star reviews on this very unit.
We own several vacation rentals in the area that have been utilized from guests around the world. We offer clean, well appointed, comfortable furnishings and home-like amenities with personal touch. While we ensure accommodations are prepared to the highest standards, if any issues arise we address them right away. We appreciate the opportunity to serve our guests and make them feel at home while on vacation.
