I have a close friend who lives on Society St, so my family is spoiled from staying in beautifully restored home. When we arrived at 8pm on Thursday night with a reservation at Husk at 9pm...we entered the manicured garden with the sound of the fountain and we knew we had come to the right place! Soft sheets and fluffy towels, a small but precious kitchen area and a comfortable living space for us to congregate...we had a tranquil place to "live" while we stormed Charleston! We shopped and dined and celebrated our family and the glorious pool and garden area forced us to relax in the afternoons...We knew our hosts were nearby, but we made ourselves at home. I have already recommended this property to my friends...and my husband bragged of his luxurious accommodations while he attended a law conference nearby. Those poor people who stay in hotels! This experience, and two previous stays in VRBO properties have convinced us that VRBO is the way to travel!

This is a beautiful property located in the historic residential district within easy walk of downtown and King Street shopping. The house has many beautiful Charleston architectural features, including high ceilings and a big porch. The garden and pool area is well maintained and a perfect spot to relax. Everything was in good condition and clean, the decorations were nice, and the owners were wonderful to work with. We brought our one year old son and rented baby equipment from Tots on the Go, who did a great job delivering and setting up a compact crib and BOB jogging stroller. We all really enjoyed the pool. We had four adults and one child and felt it was spacious and met our needs. We loved walking to the restuarants and the sights -- Queen Street Grocery is a close spot for a quick breakfast of crepes.Gated off street parking, full kitchen and washer/dryer are perfect for a stay. Would highly recommend.

My family would love to live in historic downtown Charleston and felt that renting this home was the next best thing to owning your own Carriage House. The house's setting is lush, shaded, and expertly landscaped. Having a house with a pool in the heart of historic downtown Charleston was an absolute plus for the hot July. The pool was saline so our children enjoyed not having green hair and red eyes from excess chlorine. Though my wife did all the research I initially had low expectations for the home. I expected a really old interior with old and plain furnishings. My expectations were greatly exceeded and I was absolutely impressed and surprised!! The total interior was well furnished. I felt like I was in a luxury home while it still maintained the historic Charleston charm. The location of the home was one block away from King Street and a stone's throw from Broad. We walked to every restaurant, museum, and store. We were fortunate to rent for the month though we only used our car 5 times to go places like Middleton place and Drayton Hall. There are 3 small local markets within two blocks of the home. For major shopping Harris Teeters was one mile away. The owners live next door and were very nice, warm and friendly. We look forward to seeing them again soon :) We will most definitely consider this house again when we return for our next vacation.

The carriage house is in a perfect location and within walking distance to everything. Enjoy all the charms of Charleston by staying in this beautiful area of historic homes and enjoying your own private pool and courtyard. Listen to the sound of church bells as you relax in the pool and take evening strolls to the Battery.

Perfectly clean, well decorated and very comfortable, it really doesn't get any better than this!

We recently visited Charleston and rented the Legare Carriage House for four nights. I cannot say enough about how much we loved staying there. The location is perfectly situated to walk and/or bike anywhere in the historic district. We walked to dinner each evening -- no shortage of excellent restaurants in this town. Only time we used our car was a day trip to Folly Island beach. The homeowners were lovely hosts - there when we needed advice on things, but certainly gave us total privacy. And last, but certainly not least important -- the carriage house was spotlessly clean, beautifully and tastefully decorated and surrounded by a well-kept Charleston-style garden with outdoor seating, a bubbling fountain and small swimming pool. If you don't require the services of a hotel/inn -- like room service, concierge, restaurant on-site, daily linen service, etc. -- there is absolutely no reason to stay anywhere else in Charleston.

We loved our rental at the carriage house. It was exactly what we were looking for with two little kids. They loved the courtyard and the pool and we loved the location and feeling as if we lived in Charleston. The owners were fantastic and we would recommend to anyone.
