Photos and Description of the Alberobello vacation villa rental
Kindly renovated trullo situated just 3km from Martina Franca

Welcome to the real Italy...

This 18th century traditional farmhouse has beautifully renovated preserving all the original features and incredible workmanship from years before.

The exposed stonework and unique coned roofs makes staying in this trullo a very special experience.

Situated just a few kilometres from the chic town of Martina Franca (city of festivals) you can enjoy strolling around the historical centre, coffee in one of the lovely cafes or enjoy dining in one of the excellent restaurants where fresh local produce is served at very reasonable prices.

In the summer months the town is busy with Italians who come to enjoy one of the many festivals which are held in the town.

Street entertainment, music and chic cafes keep the town busy until the early hours of the morning where you can enjoy real Italian life.

Just 3km drive into the pretty countryside of Martina Franca will find Trullo Susanna.

The trullo is privately situated however it is not isolated and is situated on a private road so you will not be disturbed by passing traffic.

Private gates lead you into the well maintained garden where there is a vegetable garden, fruit trees and of course the famous olive trees which are known to this region.

The outside area has been designed for outside living in the summer months.

Comfortable double sunbeds are around the pool area where you can relax after cooling down in the private pool and the tiled stone gazebo provides shade from the summer sun.

The pool is well maintained by Francesco who comes to clean it early in the morning to ensure he does not disturb you.

Evenings can be spent cooking wonderfully tasty local produce on the barbecue, sampling the world famous local wine and relaxing under the stars.

Entering the trullo the exposed stonework, cones and arches are quite breathtaking. The spacious living/dining area has been tastefully decorated in keeping with the style of trullo and the log burning open fire creates a cosy atmosphere in the cooler months.

A new stone built kitchen was finished in 2012 and is fully equipped if you prefer to cook at the trullo.

There is a full size dishwasher, coffee machine with coffee pods and large fridge freezer.

The bedrooms are tastefully decorated with ample storage space of clothes and a romantic feel is created by the pretty mosquito nets, candles and soft lighting.

Full wi-fi is available here in all the rooms for the trullo and the outside patio area.

Superb villa

We loved this place. The villa itself is very comfortable and well-equipped. It was also cool and that was very welcome when the temperature outside soared to 38 degrees. The pool was superb.

Susan, the owner, could not have been more helpful and was very friendly. The sat nav she lent us was invaluable. We'd never have found the place again after an outing without it. The welcome pack of some food and a bottle of wine was very, er, welcome.

The location was lovely with a great view over the hills. Our first couple of days were rainy and it was great to sit on the patio and watch an electric storm roll around the valley. After that it was sun all the way. The villa is totally private and not really overlooked (the neighbours would really have to make an effort).

We enjoyed hearing the birds in their nests on the patio (though never managed to see them going in or out) and having swallows dive to take a drink from the pool while we were in it was a great experience.

I also liked the "leave stuff for the next tenant" approach. Instead of throwing left over shower gels or shampoos away at the end of your holiday, just leave them in the basket.

You do need a car. We did try to walk to a restaurant once but gave up before getting there.

Our only very minor suggestion would be for a brighter light in the kitchen but that was a very minor quibble.

Thanks again, Susan, for a superb holiday.

A charming property

Myself, Husband and two teenage children have just spent a relaxing holiday in this beautifully restored Trullo.
Susan the owner has decorated it to a high standard and added many personal touches to make it feel like home.
Despite arriving in Martina Franco at nearly midnight, she Happily came out to find us, we got ever so slightly lost, and took us to the villa. Nothing was too much trouble for her when I contacted her over the week for help re finding supermarkets and good restaurants.
I would definately recommend a car for sightseeing and to get into town as its a bit of a walk.
We really enjoyed going to Alberabello and would recommend a visit.
If going to Restaurants in Martina Franco,go to the old part and but instead of heading to the large ones in the main square, give the ones a try down the side turnings as we found these to be good value and excellent food.
The Trullo was spotlessly clean and Susan had left milk, bread, wine etc to welcome us.
If you are lookin for peace and quiet and a non touristy area in which to holiday, then we would highly recommend Trullo Susannah,
Thanks again Su.
Owner's Response: Thank you Lyn for your kind words. It was a pleasure having you all staying at the trullo and I hope you come back very soon...Susie

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Trullo Susanna. The setting is beautiful and a great location for exploring the area.
The welcome gift was unexpected, but certainly appreciated, after an overnight flight and a drive from Rome. The trullo soon felt like a home away from home.
It was a pleasure to meet Susan. She certainly went out of her way to help us and make our stay enjoyable.
We would highly recommend this property.

We had the pleasure of staying at Trullo Susanna for our family vacation in July. Susan the owner couldn't have been more helpful - including helping us when we got lost driving around by driving out to find us and bring us home! Pathetic on our part really, but be sure to bring your GPS as the roads are not well marked.. :) The trullo is very special, and we "truly" enjoyed the touring around the Puglia region. Wonderful stay - highly recommend!

we enjoyed our holiday in this very charming, comfortable trullo and recommend it to anyone who is planning a vacation in Puglia. Susan is a very friendly, helpful person, who gave us a lot of information to discover the beautiful area and find the good restaurants. The trullo was perfectly clean and we were very pleased to discover the welcome package, that contained all we needed for our first meal, including a bottle of Puglian wine. The large terrace with view to the pool was a lovely place to have our meals, and we are certainly considering to return to trullo Susanna !

Trullo Susana - Heartbroken

Submitted: October 6, 2010 Stayed: August 2010
I was supposed to be there with my girlfriend but she did not come, however the place was perfect for a broken heart : calm and quiet, not far away from the little town, the terrace is brilliant and you can enjoy it late, inside it is basic but ok, as you leave outside it is not a problem .. Susie is great, very welcoming, we arrived late and a dinner was there for us with a bottle of italian wine ... Thanks Susie, I will come back alone or accompanied ....

Me and my wife had a fantastic time staying at the Trullo for our honeymoon! The owner Susan is wonderful and really helpful. She does all she can to ensure you have a comfortable stay. The trullo and its surrounding grounds are beautiful. The pool is brilliant and a great place to cool down in the peak of the heat of the day. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for a truely relaxing and peaceful time. There is a lot to do in the surrounding areas for anyone looking for a more active time. Me and my wife fully intend to return to the Trullo with friends in the near future.

We had a lovely week staying at this Trullo.
Susan, the owner, is superb and we had absolutely everything we needed.
Our son really enjoyed the pool and we all enjoyed exploring the area. [Driving in Italy is an experience!]
The fresh food, available everywhere, is fantastic and the local wine is marvellous.
We recommend this Trullo highly and Pepino the neighbour is a true gent.

We had a lovely stay in Susan's Trullo (family of 4 with 5 and 3 year old children)

Susan made our stay welcome and easy, living very locally and able help us arrive and leave along with recommendations, directions and organising anything we (or the kids) needed. She even bought a DVD player for us to keep the kids happy after the busy days!

My favourite was using the outdoor BBQ, dining with the kids next to the pool and watching the sunset from the flat roof of the villa and stargazing at night once the kids are in bed.

The villa is very nice having been just redone and the surrounding area has plenty to see - picturesque villages and towns (Ostuni, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, etc) along with beach towns within 40 drive.

We flew Ryanair to Bari Airport (1hour drive) but Brindisi is simlar distance.

We hired a car via Easyjet's website for Europcar (about 15% cheaper than direct with Europcar) - queues were a little shorter at the airport, but the airport is small anyway so quick to get in and out.

A charming and peaceful hideaway

Submitted: May 21, 2008 Stayed: April 2008
I recently stayed at this gorgeous trullo just outside the historic town of Martina Franca. It's out in the country, so is a wonderfully quiet spot to chill out and soak up the sun. But the town's very near, so there's easy access to all the restaurants, bars and shops for the evening. We also drove to different beaches a few times, which were lovely. And the trullo capital (Alberobello) is a short drive away and worth a visit too. But there's really no need to go anywhere as it's so relaxing at the trullo (and I hear a pool is being installed, so cooling down will be a simple hop off the rooftop suntraps).

Inside, the trullo was spotlessly clean and is furnished to a high standard with all mod cons. The ceiling of one of the bedrooms is the conical inside of the honey-comb-shaped trullo part of the roof, which is very romantic.

Susan, the lovely (and very funny) lady who owns the place, has left lots of useful information around to help make the most of your holiday. She even directed us to an amazing open-air nightclub in the middle of nowhere, which was fantastic - even for a couple of old-timers like us! The neighbours are also very friendly (although they are only there sometimes as their main house is in the town) and grow an amazing variety of fruit and vegetables.

I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday in a charming and unusual property, with the added bonus of plenty of interesting things on your doorstop. It also makes a good girly break destination, as you can relax by day and enjoy the great bars in the evening (they all stay open soooo late!). I guess the only downside is that you need to drive to get anywhere, but then the bonus is it's in a lovely and quiet location.
