We had a great time at the Lookout Mountain Chalet this past weekend! The house was beautiful and the views were amazing. I wouldn't expect any less after staying in one of Todd's other houses last year (The Olympic Dreams Chalet). I went with a group of 10 and there was more than enough space to accommodate everyone comfortably. We visited the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge while we were there where we got to meet Alex, he's a great guy and he showed us around and helped us get settled into the kayaks. I would highly recommend stopping by, it's literally a 3 minute walk from the house and a great experience. This year was our second trip to the Adirondacks, and we will be back for many years to come! Todd's Houses are gorgeous, clean, and very well kept - he's a great guy and we wouldn't stay anywhere else!
Owner's Response: Jackie, Thank you so much for your review of our home! We are so glad that you chose to include us in your vacation plans two years in a row. It is always great to hear from guests who love our homes just as much as we do! Your right, Steve, Alex, and the entire team at the Adirondack Refuge are great people with lots of knowledge about the area and the animals they work so hard to protect! Were glad you had the time to use the kayaks we provide to all our guests, thats the best way to experience the river and all that it has to offer. Thank you again for your review. We look forward to hosting you and your family during your future trips to the Adirondacks!

Beautiful home in a great location

Our family enjoyed our stay at Lookout mountain. The view of Whiteface was spectacular! Washing dishes was not a chore when you have such an amazing view. The pictures on the website were accurate and also the description of amenities were 100% accurate. The addition of the sauna was a wonderful treat. We enjoyed using the sauna and the steam shower, especially after a long hike in the cold and snow. The location of the home made you feel as if you were remote but in actuality Lake Placid was just a quick drive down the road. We did not have any negative comments regarding the home and we would definitely stay here again.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of Lookout Mountain Chalet! We always love to hear about guests who like our homes just as much as we do. We're so glad you enjoyed the new Finlandian dry sauna, we were hoping that would be an apreciated addition! It sounds like you and your travel companions had a great time and we look forward to hosting you during your next vacation to the area! Thanks again, Todd & Kimmy

AMAZING CABIN

Submitted: December 26, 2012 Stayed: December 2012
My wife and I brought our 3 children up to Whiteface for a week of skiing and to enjoy all there is to offer in the area before Christmas. When we arrived at the cabin the first thing we noticed was the breathtaking view. When we went inside the house everything was immaculate with such attention to detail. The house has the best of everything from appliances to beds to the cabin itself. Within 1 hour of our arrival the owner Todd called to make sure everything was just as we expected. He gave us his cell phone number and explained if we needed anything he would take care of it. The only time I had to call was to see if the cabin was available for an extra 3 days to extend our stay. He not only booked us for 3 extra days he didn’t charge us. My wife and I have stayed at cabins in the Adirondacks for the past 7 years and never have we found such a nice place that is also right next to everything. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone visiting the area of Lake Placid and Whiteface.

The home was FLAWLESS. The wait up until the trip was unbareable, and let me tell you - the pictures do not do the place justice. The drive was pleasant enough, very easy to get to, beautiful scenery the whole way. Nature has this amazing ability to humble you. When we pulled up I was in awe. The views are breathtaking, the kitchen (my favorite part! lol) was fully stocked, i mean, it really had everything! I am so grateful to Todd and Kim for ensuring that the trip was perfect, the attention & care for details is what really pulls the heartstrings. There is even this cute family owned grocery stores not too far from the house that has everything, also you have to be sure to go and find yourself some maple syrup!! It is so yummy. Even with all of the exciting attractions in the area, I really didnt want to leave the house. Between relaxing in the hot tub staring up at the midnight stars, curling up by the fireplace on a cold night, I just felt right at home. The beds are super comfy by the way (I was wondering beforehand). I could lay on the couch for hours and stare right out into the mountains... such pleasant memories I will cherish forever. Thank you again, and again.. for the amazing trip that couldnt have happened without you.

This home exceeded our expectations and accomodated our family perfectly. The view was breathtaking; especially seeing the leaves turn more and more each day. Just a short drive into Lake Placid with so much to see and do. I would strongly recommend this house to anyone wanting to escape to the Adirondacks!

Handicapped visitor

Todd and Kim: Unfortunately I did not have a very good week at LMC. The house is advertised as handicapped accessible with limitations. I use a wheelchair but can transfer and walk a step or two holding onto a walker. My husband, who pulls me in my wheelchair up stairs when necessary, and I knew there was no ramp as advertised but the stone walkway, incline and sandy conditions leading from the parking area to the steps created such a barrier it was difficult for my husband to move me smoothly in the wheelchair. The nailed down doormat at the front door entrance created another barrier in getting me and the wheelchair over the threshold. Once in the house the main level bedroom which we used has a mattress too high for me to get onto without help. The main level bathroom is very tight in trying to maneuver a wheelchair to the toilet and shower. Once I brought my wheelchair up to the shower door, it was impossible for me to open the shower door, step into the shower, move the wheelchair out of the way and close the shower door. You were responsive enough to install a grab bar in the stall, which I did not even use because my husband had to stand in the stall, hold my walker until I sat down, get out of the stall, remove my wheelchair, close the shower door and wait until I finished my shower to help me out again. I would strongly urge you to either remove the "handicapped accessible with limitations" notation or mention on your website what the limitations are so guests like me can make an informed decision about visiting. Thank you.

Family retreat

Could not have asked for more in a vacation rental, plenty of space, well maintained, private and spectacular views of whiteface mountain. Close to Lake Placid, and there was no shortage of hiking trails, swimming, or just relaxing by the fire. Would definitely consider returning to this lovely spot. We shared the space with our 3 adult children and their partners and our 2 grandchildren. There was something for everyone either collectively or on your own, sitting under a blanket of stars at night and hiking during the day. Perfect space for large family gatherings. If we could have a wish list it would be a portable a/c, to compensate for the limited air flow throughout the chalet, and an outdoor grill otherwise it was perfect.

Thanks for the memories

This was a great place for our family vacation. We had 11 people ranging from 6 months to 91 years old plus two dogs and had plenty of room. Description of the property was accurate and we especially enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub and walks to the wildlife refuge. Kitchen was fun to work in and the beds were very comfortable. We would go back there anytime.

Lookout Mountain Chalet is one of the most beautiful properties in Wilmington. It has the best view by far of any house we have rented. The house is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed, plus a hot tub, sauna and steam shower. We loved our stay here and will definitely be back.

Simply Beautiful

This was my first trip to the area and boy was I lucky to find this place. First, you can tell the owner takes great pride in the home given the way it was built - top notch materials and construction. Also, the decor inside is that of an ultra-modern home with every amenity one could want.

My trip revolved around the Lake Placid Iron Man race and I was most concerned with having somewhere to come back to, relax, and get a good night's sleep after watching the competition. This place delivered. Quiet comfort, like being at home - except at my home I don't have the spectacular views outside every window!

I can't wait to go back and will not even consider staying somewhere else.
