Carretas 302 is a bright two bedroom apartment that has been professionally decorated and beautifully furnished. It incorporates original artwork and the lamps are original design pieces. The entrance hall leads into a living / dining area with a balcony that faces out onto the street below. Throughout, there are marble floors, which contrast nicely with the use of bold burgundy paintwork and matching decorative elements. The two double bedrooms are situated in the interior of the building and are very quiet: 1 double bedroom (queen-sized bed 1.60m x 1.90m) with fitted wardrobes and 1 twin bedroom (2 single beds 0.90m x 1.90m) without wardrobe. There is a bathroom with a walk-in shower and an additional half-bathroom. The décor throughout the apartment has been chosen by a professional interior designer, and it is bright and modern. Please note that whilst the building has an elevator, there is a small staircase before you reach the lobby.

Perfect for families or business travelers

I agree with the other reviews and the apartment is exactly as depicted in the photos. Very clean and nice ammenities and we had everything we needed by way of extra blankets, kitchen items, etc. We also arrived early in the day and Spain Select accomodated our need to drop off our luggage and had the apartment ready early. The Spain Select representative answered all of our questions and was available 24/7 if needs arose. The location cannot be beat. It was lively on all nights on the street but not loud. We felt very safe during our stay. Aside from Sol being literally steps away from the door, there are a few quaint small alley type streets neighboring the apartment where locals congrated each night for late night tapas, creating an excellent atmosphere in the evenings. We could walk to most places we visited; otherwise the taxi rides were short. When we return to Madrid, this is where we will stay!

The perfect place to stay in Madrid

You will not find a nicer apartment than this in Madrid. The location is perfect, 1 minute from Puerta del Sol and barely 5 minutes to Plaza Mayor; you can walk everywhere from here. The apartment itself is wonderful, not at all like most rentals in Europe. It's large, modern, elegant, and comfortable. The kitchen is larger than we've had in other rentals, as was the living area. You won't go wrong by staying here.

Perfect hideaway in central Madrid!

My husband and I rented an apartment on the second floor in this same building, also offered by Spain Select. It was decorated similarly to the photos of the third floor apartment shown here: modern, sleek design, some (fake) orchids here and there, flat screen TV, etc. We were thrilled with everything about the experience. We arrived early in the morning, and were able to call Spain Select from our cell phone once we got to Sol (the are where the apartment is) and they sent an agent to check us in almost immediately. It was a quick, easy process (we paid with credit card), and the security deposit was returned without any problems as well.

The apartment itself was spotlessly clean, and in a perfect location right in the middle of Madrid. It was half a block from the Metro, although we only used it to get to/from the airport, as everything else was in walking distance (note, my husband and I enjoy walking, so anything within 2-3 miles is walkable for us): shopping, the museums, restaurants, etc.

It *was* a bit loud at night, but that is to be expected in a city with nightlife like Madrid's. The building was very secure, well-lit, and well-maintained. Oh, and the shower had the most amazing water pressure I can remember experiencing basically ever. : )

If you've not tried staying in an apartment, this is definitely a good place to start: quick, easy, more privacy, much more space to relax and enjoy, quieter, etc. than a hotel.
