A nice home away from home
We had a wonderful stay at East of the 6th in late July. My husband and I brought our three kids and my niece and nephew for a week's stay. The kids were aged 14-21. John, the owner, provided an inflatable bed for our seventh person and we were all comfortable. He even stocked the refrigerator with some basic groceries which was a very nice touch
The Good: The beach is only a short walk away. It is beautiful and practically private. The waves are great for boogie boarding and body surfing. The condo has beach chairs and boogie boards to use. The kids would have spent the entire week at the beach
We were able to meet John during our stay. He was very friendly and gave us some great ideas for sightseeing
El Yunque and a bio-bay tour are a must do. Both are about a 30-40 minute drive away. Old San Juan is at least an hour away, but worth a visit.
The Not So Good: The restaurants in Palmanova Plaza are expensive and were hit or miss in terms of their taste. After going to a few of them, we ventured out of Palmas del Mar to get a good meal
The master bed is very firm. My husband liked it; I didn't.
The grounds crew works early in the morning - usually around 7am. I'm sure they do this to avoid the heat of the day, but it's rough being awakened by lawn mowers and week whackers that early when you're on vacation
Overall: We would definitely recommend this property. The condo has everything you need. We experienced a power outage after a storm, but the condo had candles and a lighter. John, the owner, provided excellent customer service. He answered our questions by e-mail, phone and in person. He gave us good advice on sight seeing and where to get a good meal
We usually stay in condos when we travel. This one was nice because it had a full sized washer and dryer. We were able to wash the towels so that they were fresh after all the use they were getting at the beach. Although the kitchen was a little small, it had everything that we needed - including a blender to make pina coladas.
We aren't golfers, but a golfer would especially enjoy this property
This was our first trip to Puerto Rico. This condo provided us with a good base from which to go sightseeing and return in the evening. During a week's stay, we only managed to see the eastern part of the island, so a return trip is in order. We would stay in this condo again
