This propery was beautiful: its wraparound balcony and ample windows looked out on the beach and sea, which was literally a stone's throw away. Every day we could see catamarans , board paddlers, swimmers and, of course, humpback whales cavorting only a half mile out.
The condo itself was absolutely first class. It was very spacious for the four of us. It had a gigantic living room with a mirrored wall across from the sliding glass doors, which served to fill the room with light. The master bedroom was enormous, as was the ensuite bath with its more-than-spacious walk-in shower and double rainshower heads. This was especially ideal for the seniors in our party with mobility problems.
Not only was the condo huge; it was beautifully appointed with comfortable couches, chairs, and beds.And, of course, it was perfectly clean.
It was, in fact, everything we had been promised, and more. For those leery of online photos, Rick's pics were exactly what you get.
Close by were the beach itself where people could lie in the sand, play in the surf, rent catamaran cruises, snorkel, or walk the pathway which runs much of the length of Kaanapali Beach. Even with our mobility challenges, we were able to walk easily down this sidewalk to neighbouring Leilani, and Hula Grill restaurants, where the food was delicious, the mai tais generous, and the views of the sunset spectacular. The Whalers' Village shopping mall, which was also easily accessible via the path, offered many fine shops to explore.
The little town of Lahaina, with its grocery stores, many restaurants and shops and beautiful art galleries, was only five minutes away by car. Here there is the highly acclaimed Old Lahaina Luau.
Only a half hour away by car are a plantation tour, an aquarium, and a sunset dinner and cocktail catamaran cruise (Pride of Maui) which is highly recommended: the boat is very stable,the crew is very friendly, the food is delicious and generous, and, once again, the mai tais are powerful.
We had a fabulous time on Maui, and would recommend Rick's condo without hesitation to friends and relatives. The bonus, too, is that Rick himself is very personable and helpful, and was easily accessible by e-mail and phone.
This was easily a five-star experience.

We have been coming to Maui for the last 20 years and stayed at the Grand Waiia, Fairmont Kea Lani, Kaanapali Alii, and Ricks condo is "better than all three put together"...50 feet from the sand to ocean...unobstructed view of Moloki north to seeing Black Rock. "Nice friendly people" stay at this complex without the "uptown moneybag attitude" The kitchen is compact with SubZero brand new built in frig...with GE profile top of the line stove top. TVs is every room..and the bathrooms are as nice or better than the top hotels.Rick also leaves chairs, boogy boards for you to use..towels in the rooms too..for inside and the beach. The photos are not as good as actually looking out the balcony in person and in real time!! ...The shopping is at the Whalers Shopping area...we saw hula dancers,local singers,free!! plus ABC store is less than a brisk 4 minutes walk down pass the lobby area. I personally recommend this condo to anyone who is looking for the perfect ocean front viewcondo with the perfect location for rest & tons of things to do..also there is a farmers market on saturday for those who like to cook fresh Maui vegetables..A special thax to Rick for owning such a wonderful place and letting us share it with him.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Whaler 502. Making the reservation with Rick was pleasant, he is very helpful and remained so throughout our 10 night stay. As soon as I walked in I knew I was going to be very happy with our accommodations. I was right and it just got better and better.

Whaler 502 has waterfront views from every window, large furnished patios with glass doors, huge living areas, brand new, extremely well equipped kitchen, large bedrooms, fine linens, and new marble baths with soft towels. Every drawer or cupboard in every room had something useful in it; books, to coolers, chairs, towels, blenders, blankets, water jugs, washer/dryer, even boogie boards.

The location is perfect, on a busy part of Kaanapali Beach with lots of local restaurants and endless beachfront paths. The waves were huge and people were surfing right in front. Snorkling is a short walk north in the Black Rock Bay. If you like a few sets of stairs, you have direct access to the pool, beach and paths without ever visiting an elevator. I look forward to another opportunity to enjoy Whaler 502 and would recommend it to everyone.

In Lahaina we really enjoyed the waterfront restaurants David Paul, I'O and Pacific'O (I would love to do the O'O farm picnic/tour one day). You can walk south to Ma La for breakfast or lunch, on the water in north Lahaina. I understand the restaurant beside them is also wonderful for dinner - too little time, I can't wait to come back.

We walked several times north along the beach (through the Sheraton Black Rock) to the Lower Road Farmers' Market (store featuring an ourdoor market Mon/Wed/Fri from 7am) and took a taxi home with supplies. We also found some great/fun shopping at the Whalers Village.

We didn't have a car and didn't really need one though next time I would have a car after a week or so. We found an excellent taxi driver, Ni who was prompt, professional, friendly and helpful. with AB Taxi.

I have been to Maui many times throughout the years but this was my first time staying in Ka'anapali at The Whaler. This condo is by far the cleanest I have ever stayed in!! The entire complex is immaculate. The renovations done on this unit have been top notch and well thought out by the owners.
The kitchen is gorgeous and well equipped. You feel like you are in a luxury hotel in the newly reno'd bathrooms. The comfy beds were "heavenly" and the linens are of very nice quality. Being a corner unit you have unobstructed views of the glorious beach directly off the wrap around lanai and floor to ceiling sliding doors everywhere. You simply won't be dissapointed renting this lovely spacious unit.I will most definitely be back!!

We had a wonderful two weeks in this property over New Years 2010/2011. Recently renovated and centrally located. The owner was extremely helpful in answering questions, being flexible, and assisting us in finding two additional (smaller) units for our additional children and their spouses, all in the Whaler, and it worked out very well. This unit is very spacious, clean and very comfortable (and private) for two couples, but could probably handle six people with ease. Lots of balcony and views from all rooms. As noted, the location was ideal. You could eat in or eat out...lots of choice...bars, restaurants, entertainment. The beach is the best for swimming, snorkelling, surfing or just hanging out. Golf next door and plenty of activities within easy driving distance. We all hated to leave, when the time arrived, but that just means that it was an outstanding vacation. We highly recommend this unit.

We had a wonderful 2 week vacation in this beautiful condo. The space has just been remodeled and the kitchen and bathrooms look brand new. My family has stayed in many different condo's at The Whaler and this is by far the nicest we've seen. The view is amazing!! The condo is located on the front of the building so you are looking right at the beach/ocean. We could even see the ocean while sitting on the couch. The lanai wraps around the entire condo and I could hear the waves in every room. We enjoyed having our coffee and breakfast on the lanai each morning while watching for the whales. The beach is right outside your door, it's great to come and go as you please. And it is so nice to be able to pop over to Whaler's Village for a night out or stay in and cook a nice meal in the kitchen. If you rent this condo, you will not be disappointed!
