Nestled above Curwensville Lake, the cottage is in a country setting, next to the host home, yet only about 12 miles from Interstate 80.It will sleep up to four with a queen-size bed in loft and a sleeper couch in the front room. It has HD satellite flatscreen TV with DVD player, a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grilling area, hot tub, and a relaxing tree swing overlooking the lake and beautiful West Branch of the Susquehanna River Valley. Wildlife (such as turkey, whitetail deer, grouse, and an occasional black bear) abounds in central PA and often make appearances around the cottage. Even Bald Eagles often soar in the valley as their nest is directly below the cottage.
This charming country cottage was completed in 2011 and is within the PA Wilds part of central Pennsylvania. Besides fishing and boating at the lake other attractions are also nearby: such as elk viewing, Punxsutawney Phil, Penn State football, amish, golfing, sightseeing the state forests of Penns Woods, etc...

Absolutely adorable!!

My husband and I just spent a couple days at this amazing little cottage for our 14th wedding anniversary! It was absolutely wonderful!! We walked in to a wonderful loaf of homemade pina colada zucchini bread and fresh brown eggs!! The cottage was so clean and so inviting! We had such a relaxing time expecially in the amazing hot tub overlooking the lake!! Nice touch!! The owners home is just steps away but they repect your privacy the whole time you are staying at the cottage! We plan to visit the area again when the weather is nicer so we can hike and go to the lake! I would love for my 2 girls to experience the area like we did! I would highly recommend to anyone that wants a quite relaxing vacation!!

My husband and I visited the cottage and had a wonderful time!
Although the homeowner's house is only 20 feet away, they give you your privacy and are there for you if you need any help.
When we walked into the cottage, it smelled lovely and it was so clean! There was a bottle of wine and homemade pina colada zucchini bread on the kitchen counter.
The little town was adorable, we went and got an ice cream at the Blue Kow. Took a walk at the park. Most of all, we lounged and just took in the beautiful scenery. The hot tub was great as well!

Relaxed at its Best!

My husband and I enjoyed your beautiful cottage. so clean, beautifully decorated, and so warm and cozy. We spent our anniversary weekend just enjoying the quiet peaceful view with some white snow while soaking in the hot tub. We just think this cottage is beautiful and I apologize for adding this comment.. But the bed linens??? Oh my soooo comfortable. Just really enjoyed ourselves and the Pina Colada Zucchini bread was delicious and well appreciated. There is only one tiny~ little issue we encountered, it may not bother anyone else.. but we smelled a sewage smell coming from the shower stall. The longer we stayed.. the more it affected us. My husband ended up getting a little sick from the aroma..We did light our candles and it helped but all in all?... WE LOVED THE COTTAGE... Its exceeded above and beyond all expectations!+

It may have something to do with the extremely cold weather that we had had the week preceding your visit. I took my husband here for his birthday and he loved it! It was so comfy and homey. We enjoyed relaxing and being with each other. The cabin is well taken care of and the owners make your stay extra special with fresh eggs and baked goods. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much!

Great little spot for an affordable quiet getaway

Our stay at the cottage was everything we could have hoped for. The owners allowed us to arrive a little earlier, which was so helpful, and we were welcomed by a plate full of homemade goodies and fresh eggs.
The cottage itself is just the right size for two people--cozy without feeling suffocating--and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. And, though other reviews commented on the proximity to the main house, we were not bothered by it at all. We thought they gave us the perfect amount of privacy throughout our stay.
We were able to visit a couple wineries in the area, and utilized the rails-to-trails walking trail one day for a little exercise. If we come back again, we would like to try some of the hiking trails that are a little further away. If you're looking for a jam-packed vacation, this probably isn't for you, but if you are looking for a quiet getaway to spend time with each other, this is a great little spot. And affordable--even on a graduate student's budget!

Beautiful country setting overlooking the lake. The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean and relaxing. We spent our anniversary here for just the one night and enjoyed our time together very much. However, would not recommend if you want complete seclusion, the host home is right there and the hot tub we did not use do to that factor. But overall was a very nice place to stay.
Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your anniversary at the cottage! The cottage is very warm and cozy as it is heated with circulating hot water in the floor and has an additional electric heater for those especially cold nights. Although the cottage is near the host home (as property photos show), many features have been added to create separate outdoor space for the cottage guests. The cottage has its own porch overlooking the lake and the hot tub has a privacy fence surrounding it on three sides as the property photos show. Sorry that you felt too conspicuous to enter the hot tub however most guests have had no problem with that. The reviews online and comments in the guest journal attest to the fact that most enjoy three things about the cottage, the quiet setting, the fantastic view and the hot tub. We live in the side of the house away from the cottage and the blinds are always pulled on the cottage side. We respect our guests privacy and as with you oftentimes never meet them but are readily available to solve problems and provide information to those who ask. I don't know of any cabin or cottage in central PA that is totally secluded and has a hot tub. Thanks for your five star rating of Dancing Crow Cottage.

Comfy and cozy with a beautiful view!

We had a very relaxing stay at the Dancing Crow Cottage. The view of the lake is beautiful and the cottage offered all the comforts of home and then some. It was clean and very nicely decorated. It was great to have the kitchen, especially since we were traveling with our kids (ages 11 and 5 months). We also liked that the towels and bed linens were provided. We've stayed at other vacation homes where they are not and it is nice not to have to pack those as well. The cottage is located in a very quiet, country setting, however it is only a few minute drive from convenience stores and restaurants in town.
Jim and Karen were very respectful of our privacy, but were also very quick in responding to our phone call when we did have some questions. The zucchini bread was delicious!
I would definitely recommend the Dancing Crow Cottage.

My friends and I go away every year in October and this place was by far the best . As we pulled up we could not get over the beautiful view from our cottage . The cottage was awesome ! Every little thing was thought of to make you feel right at home and the owners gave you complete privacy. My husband and I will deffinately be going together next time this is the perfect getaway to just RELAX and enjoy !!

Wonderful Cottage Getaway!

What a delightful place to stay! We planned a last minute overnight trip and could only stay one night - we'd love to come back and spend more time! Even though it was very last minute, Karen was very prompt in responding to our request and getting everything set up. We found everything to be as described and more! Karen had baked a loaf of Pina Colada Zucchini bread for us that was waiting on the kitchen counter when we arrived. It was delicious!! The view is incredible and the cottage is very comfortable. We loved the hot tub, too! I know that some other reviews disliked how close the cottage is to the owners' own home, but that really was not an issue for us. It was much more private and home-like than a motel! We have already recommended it to friends and family. Oh, I almost forgot! Karen greeted us when we arrived and told us that we could help ourselves to the eggs in their chicken coop! My husband enjoyed them for breakfast ( I finished off the zucchini bread ! )

The pina colada zucchini bread is something that was introduced to us by a co worker and we enjoyed it so much that we decided to share it with those who stay with us.
