Great family vacation

We recently stayed at this great home in Fullerton for our extended family vacation. The home is large with lots of places areas to "find your own place" The home is located within a few minute drive of Disneyland very nice when you are leaving Disneyland at closing and just want to fall into bed. The pool was of course a high light for the kids and when not at Disneyland they could be found playing in it or upstairs in the large room playing pool. They especially loved the small water slide in the pool. The home had/has a few issues but nothing that detoured us from having a great time. One thing I loved is that you didn't feel like you are surrounded by other houses. There are neighbors above you (that you can really only see their deck) on the hill but no one beside you just an open lot and the house in front of the house are far enough below you that you have to look over the edge of the deck to really see them. The house looks across the road to the nature preserve again nice to not see a sea of houses. Michael was great in helping us get a deal that we could afford. We really enjoyed our stay and would come again.

A wonderful experience!

My husband and I had rented out this home for the weekend of our wedding. We were getting married at a venue just 2 miles away, and decided that it would be a great idea to rent a home nearby for ourselves as well as family and friends who would be in town.
Michael was very cooperative, and easy to communicate with throughout the rental process. It was a pleasure working with him!
We checked into the house a bit earlier than the regular check-in time, because we were already nearby at our wedding rehearsal. Michael's cleaning staff were extremely understanding, and accommodating. We hung out near the pool area and the living room until they finished up.
This house is absolutely beautiful. The overlooking view is amazing, and the condition appears to be just as it was when the family was still living there. My family and friends loved the pool and spa, and certainly took advantage of the game room upstairs. There is just so much space in this house, which makes it perfect for a family vacation or a weekend get-together with family and friends. You never feel cramped, and having 3.5 bathrooms was certainly helpful when everyone was getting ready for the wedding.
I had such a blast, and a very memorable experience here. We were even discussing coming back to the house in a few years as part of a new family tradition. I hope you enjoy!

Great Stay!

We stayed at this rental from march 22-29. The house is huge and had enough space for our party of 9 adults, 2 kids. The decor is a little dated, but the house is clean. The bathroom tubs could stand to be changed, but the water pressure for the showers is great! The backyard was awesome! When we were at the house we spent all of our time in the backyard. The pool was a little finicky to figure out, but Michael had the pool guy come explain it to us. The kiddie pool was not working properly, which isn't a huge deal, but would have been great for my youngest. The hot tub gets nice and hot and does it fast. The pool takes hours to heat up, and therefore we did not heat it more than twice in our stay as we were not home much during the days. The grill in the backyard was ok too, we had to give it a good cleaning when we got there, and it's a little smaller than what we are used to, but it does the trick. The bedrooms are all a good size, and the beds are mostly comfortable from what everyone had said. The queen bed in the bunk room was quite firm and bouncy, but my kids enjoyed the bunk beds. The location of this house is great, and would be one main reason I'd recommend it. It is a 10-15 min drive to Disneyland, and you do not have to use interstate to get there. It is close to groceries, shopping, and is very quiet when you are sitting outside.
All in all, it was a great family vacation! We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the backyard whenever we were "home". I gave it 4/5 because it could use some updates to the interior and the kiddie pool was not working. It fell just short of my expectations for the property at this price. However, I do recommend this place for a large group or family, a vacation is what you make of it, and we had a great time!
All in all, it was a great family vacation! We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the backyard whenever we were "home". I booked this vacation rental for my family and I for the weekend. It ended up being much cheaper than a hotel booking for 5 rooms for the weekend, since this house had plenty of room for all of us and then some. Since we were all in the same house we were able to spend much more quality time together than if we were in a hotel. The house is so large and has so many rooms that we didn't feel too claustrophobic either, there is a nice big pool in the back yard with a waterfall, a slide, and a jacuzzi. There is a nice sized family dinner table, big enough for the entire family to enjoy family dinner every night. And the house is fairly close to the down town Disney and down town Fullerton area. this was a much better experience than I could have ever imagined and I would recommend this location to everyone.

GREAT STAY IN AN AMAZING ESTATE!!!

Our hockey team had an awesome time staying and enjoying the Fullerton Estate!!! Driving up to the house it looked amazing with palm trees all over the property! As we drove up the driveway and through the gates the adventure started. There were fountains everywhere throughout the property. The backyard is to die for! Beautiful pools, hot tub and waterfalls decorated by rock formations really made you feel like you were at a resort. The inside was huge. The guys setup the Playstation 3 on the big screen TV upstairs and was a house favorite with the 3 huge cumfy couches upstairs, pool table, bar & fridge and 3 upstairs balconys overlooking the neighborhood. Master Bedroom & Master bathroom were both really nice with double showers and a nice walk-in closet. I've rent homeaway pretty often when i travel...i can honestly say the Fullerton Estate was forsure the best bang for the buck i've booked so far! The owner Michael was very easy to communicate with over text message and went out of his way to make our stay perfect! WE CAN'T WAIT TILL OUR NEXT SOCAL TRIP SO WE CAN BOOK THE FULLERTON ESTATE!!! THANK YOU MICHAEL FOR AN AMAZING TRIP!

Great Location - Great Home!

We had a great stay at this Fullerton property with our fmaily. The pool and spa were amazing and just what you see. It was like a resort like setting. The home is large and spacious. Some people have commented that they felt like having Michael living at the property was weird, but the nice thing is he is right there for any issues. I have to say there were issues, buit they were not a complete deal breaker - it is just what kept me from giving it 5 stars. The fridge was not extreemly cold and teh freezer did not freeze. The air conditioning did not work all the time. Upstairs was very hot a couple of nights. It eventually worked, but coming home late not wanting to wake Michael up to fix it was a bit of an issue. For some reason the dryers did not dry very good either. Again, it was a great stay for us - just a litle dated in sime parts. I will say it has been a month and we still have not seen our deposit check yet. We have asked twice too....

The rental description NEEDS to disclose that not only does the owner maintain an office in the garage space, but also a residence. It was convenient to have him available for needs (refrigerator not staying cold and ice maker not working), but this information MUST be disclosed to potential renters. Also, equally important is maintaining boundaries when renters are in the house. Since the space (house and perimeters) have been purchased for the duration of the rental time, it is completely inappropriate for the owner/others to occupy said rented space during this time. We came back to the house on a couple of occasions to find the owner and friend using the pool. We also had to share an awkward driveway (significant incline/limited space) with the owners vehicles, which at times occupied up to three spaces. Parking our four vehicles required some finesse. We enjoyed the use of the house (large enough for our group of 17) and the pool area. The location to Disneyland and I-5 were very convenient. The kitchen appliances we found to be quirky when operating, but were able to use them. The owner was gracious enough to reimburse us for the purchase of a new coffee maker since the one in the home did not function properly (mismatched maker and carafe). We did experience an enormous ant problem during our stay, but we found ant spray under the kitchen sink. We even experienced two earthquakes during our stay and had no problems with the property. I would recommend this property for large groups, but renters need to be aware of having the owner on the property at all times.
Adding that it was a HUGE disappointment when told your deposit would be refunded in 21 days that it took 2 months to receive it and it was less than discussed upon check-out. And you are going to charge for the gas and electricity for the pool area, you should disclose this information beforehand since we intentionally did not use the gas for heating the pool due to the excessive cost!

The photos are BEAUTIFUL, but this home is a MUST see in person. Tucked away in the hills of Fullerton, California with breath taking views, I felt like I was in a new home. The property is a lovely rental property for your family or a group. From the initial contact, I felt a connection with the owner, Michael who was a very friendly and outgoing host. My family of 14 lived in this home from July 19 through July 26. Everyone absolutely loved the home. We enjoyed all the amenities offered, especially the wonderfully designed pool and spa like Jacuzzi. The waterfall and wading pool was a lovely touch as well. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could think of minus the food. Upon checking into the home, the temperature was lovely and amazing especially taking into consideration the size of the home and very clean. Mr. Michael was always on hand responding to any of our questions quickly since he was onsite. The home is large enough for everyone present to seek their own refuge and peace, very relaxing atmosphere. When you deal with large groups and various personalities, pleasing everyone is very challenging, but this home met expectations. If opportunity presented itself, I would definitely rent this home again and I have recommended this property to several friends. Mr. Michael, your Detroit friends THANK YOU IN A BIGGGGGGG WAY!

The owner chose to ignore my last email and refused to refund our damage deposit, I have limited options, so here goes:
1. We had paid for the pool when we rented including heating, and used it only 3 of the days, and were told that our damage deposit was being held back to pay for the heating of the pool.
2. We waited 2 extra hours to get into the house while cleaning was done but were not told this in advance even though the owner had my cell phone and we spoke earlier that day.
3. The house was literally falling apart in some areas including and but not limited to the shower tiling which owner acknowledged was in disrepair but had not gotten to prior to our arrival and then fell on my feet while showering shattering all over the shower floor.
4. It was not disclosed that we would have someone else staying in the garage (namely the owner living there) during our stay, which I have to say seemed strange to all of us, and should have been disclosed.
5. Owner claims he ‘went out of your way’ to do things for us, but he did not even check on the shower after I called him, and specifically told him that I put the broken tiles aside, the pool was full of sediment from bugs and branches for the last 3 days of our visit.
6. House is teeming with ants inside and out.
7. The propane tank was virtually empty and quit during our cooking the very first night.
8. There was not nearly enough toilet paper for the duration of our stay for the number of people staying in the house, 2 rolls per washroom for a full week.
9. Leaks under kitchen sink and under a bathroom sink from loose pipes, which ironically, I felt compelled to fix to avoid losing our damage deposit
10. The house was literally in better condition when we left than when we arrived
11. We booked for a certain number of people and paid for those people and requested to come a day earlier and leave earlier, we still paid for the last day we were not there for in the end, which was fine. We actually came with fewer adults than we thought, cleaned the house, fixed broken items, dealt with deficiencies and ants & still were denied our damage deposit.
We enjoyed the stay, as our kids really didn't notice much of this and we were not at the house most of the days, but I have to say that I feel the owner advantage of the situation of holding our security deposit and then claiming we owed that money and he was in financial hardship as well.
I do not recommend this rental and will not stay there again

Owner's Response: Bait and switch, do you mean like when you told me you were a small family of just 2 adults and 4 children for such a big house. Then received a bargain price a 1/3 less than normal pricing. Then switched and added a day, then switched again and added 3 more adults, and then switched yet again after arriving to tell me you would be leaving day early, promising to pay upon arrival for your guests and stringing me along to avoid making payment then telling me that you thought we were even for your extra guests because you were now leaving a day early.We cannot refund unless able to reschedule someone else into your dates once you have made a reservation,which is in no way possible with a last minute notice like you gave to me and you knew this. As for checking in I tell everyone the same thing that we have a very large home to clean and prepare in such a short amount of time, for to check out by 10 AM if possible 11AM at latest and check in no earlier than 4PM. This is not much time to perform the task of cleaning and preparing this huge house,which does include stocking it. You knew this yet you called at 9AM because you were being asked to leave your hotel and then showed up at noon anyway. I would like to know just how it is you were planning for me to find out about the damage to my marble seat when you had it wrapped up in a plastic bag and hidden in the trash. I went to empty the trash when it felt heavy so I unwrapped the bag inside to find my marble trim from under the shower seat shattered into pieces. Can you explain how this can happen when it is only 18 inches from the ground ? I tried dropping a piece to see how it could be and guess what ? It does not break so easy. The fact is you would have to hit it with something or jump up and down on it for it to break in this fashion, it just does not add up. This is the true reason that the traveler here alias Bob Villa famous handyman was charged and not for what it is he claims. One last thing, my apartment next to and now including the garage and my presence has made most of all my clients feel safer and are very happy about my being close by and to this day the only people that we have found to be unhappy or estranged about my presence are the ones like you that want something for nothing by trying to cheat everybody. Your family had a great time here and you even tell us that they would not have even noticed and I will have to say that is because there was nothing really wrong in the first place !
