Welcome to Medora Cove, on picturesque Lake Medora, a pristine 680 acre lake, 4 miles from Copper Harbor, 9 mi from Mt. Bohemia. Cottage is newly constructed, completed in Oct. 2011. Come up and escape the summer heat! It is a relaxing drive up too!

1st floor includes slate entry, full bath, gourmet kitchen / granite island; living room with lazy boy sofas. 2nd floor includes laundry, half bath, 1 bedroom w/ one queen bed, and 2nd bedroom with two queen beds. Oriental Rugs throughout.

8 x 16 Sauna too!

The lake has three islands which can be explored via kayak (3 kayaks, paddle boat and 12' aluminum boat here for your use. This is a non-smoking Cottage.

Rates - May 4 to June 15 & Sept 14 to Nov. 2 - Daily/Weekly - 2 people $175/$900, 3 people $190/$950, 4-6 people $210/$1050

Rates - June 15 to Sept 14 - Weekly - 2 people $1050, 3 people $1175, 4 -6 people $1300

Pet owners - Pet(s) permitted but NOT ALLOWED IN COTTAGE. Pets board in the 8 x 16 sauna. NO EXCEPTIONS. $10 per day boarding; add'l security deposit req'd.

Decor: Decorations include - Taxidermy - bear, coyote, pheasant and other misc. ... Large area wall Maps, copper artifacts, Photographs duplicated from the Michigan Tech historical archives..... Oriental rugs throughout the cottage. .....Old oil lamps and pottery jugs.

Additional Ammenities: Enjoy the 8 x 16 Sauna with its wood burning heater, and cedar log bench.... so get ready for a relaxing soak in the lake after a steaming hot sauna.

Kayaks and paddle boat are here for you use along with a dock to swim or fish from. Also enjoy Dish satellite TV, bbq grill, fire pit, free for your enjoyment.

Berry patches are abundant in the area in and around the lake. Massive quantities of Thimbleberry, Blueberry, and Black Rasberry can be picked. I will be happy to let you in on some special spots when you rent!

ATV trails also abound in the area and provide access to beautiful woodlands and senic vistas, so bring them along.

Not for rental use is the garage structure (also part of the property) was turned into a work shop and storage building. It is used by us when we are staying at the cottage.

Local Attractions: Lake Medora is the 'hub' of the Keweenaw penninsula. The lake has five trail heads which are accessible for hiking, mt. biking and ATV use.

Great Place; Beautiful Setting

This is a terrific location from which to explore the whole keweenaw peninsula. The cottage is new and in great condition and was clean on arrival. The setting is great as well - right on the water. We were able to dock our boat right at the house and enjoy lake medora. We were able to easily explore lots of great locations from here: great sand bay, copper harbor, fort wilkins, lac la belle and bete gris bay, eagle harbor, etc. The owner was responsive and returned my communications and security deposit promptly. This is definitely a place I would come back to.

Beauty and Comfort

My husband and I carefully reviewed many properties before deciding on this one. We wanted the perfect setting without compromising comfort, after all we were celebrating our 50th year together! We were not disappointed! Nature and beauty abound on quiet Lake Medora and the owner provides all of the right things with which to enjoy it---kayaks, a paddle boat, a rowboat, a picnic table, a campfire area, a sauna,and a nice deck for outside enjoyment. Inside the quality built cottage it was beautifully furnished and provided all of the comforts of home with incredible views of the lake, woods and gorgeous sunsets. We could easily access quaint Michigan towns, shops and trails for hiking not to mention the many fine restaurants in the area. The owner was exceptionally helpful and was readily available if we had questions. We will be looking forward to a return visit!

Beautiful, quiet cottage, on Lake Medora!

This was a fantastic home base for us while we explored the Peninsula. It's in a lovely location on beautiful Lake Medora, just 4 mi from Copper Harbor. The cottage has so much space for you and your friends/family, as compared to the smaller motel units in town. The Owner lets you use his boat toys to explore the Lake, right from your own little beach. We enjoyed feeding the ducks everyday, watching the hummingbirds, and the gorgeous sunsets. The area is so picturesque! Go see the Copper Harbor Lighthouse, the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse, Bete Gris Bay, bike the awesome mountain bike trails, enjoy the views from Brockway Mountain Drive, visit Fort Wilkins, get sweets at the Jampot, walk along Great Sand Bay, eat at Fitzgerald's & the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.....I could go on & on. The Owner provided great customer service to us - offered us a free night, returned our security deposit in a timely manner, and made sure we could always get ahold of him with questions/concerns. A couple of things for our next trip up; bring more cash! The local gas station & some gift shops don't take credit. Bring more fresh food. The local market has dry goods for sale, but not a lot for fresh food. Stop in Calumet on your way up...and then it's only 30 min. to the cottage from there. By all means, visit this area and stay at the Lake Medora cottage. You will love it, and wonder why more people haven't discovered this destination yet!

Lake Medora Cottage - Beautiful home and location

Thank you’s… and what we appreciated:
• LOVED, loved, loved having access to Kayaks (we went out together for 2 hours, I went out alone daily for shorter cruises)
• Thanks for the Sight-seeing advice (we found some ripe blueberries at a beach picnic area off Gay-Lac La Belle – saw green thimble berries on the way to Montreal Falls)
• Enjoyed the sunset once on Brockway Mountain and again near Hunter’s Point
• Beautiful Lake shallow enough to wade in, warm enough to swim in, Warm Campfires, Nice Deck and Dock (loved the ducks!)
• Choice of Lawn chairs was nice
• VERY grateful to have been allowed to include our dog (our first dog vacation). He was grateful to hide in the sauna (boarding room) during one small thunderstorm and 3 nights of fireworks. He stayed on the deck and watched us through the screen door while we were in the kitchen. We ate outside with him. He went everywhere with us and was a very good, quiet dog!

• Never found the binoculars
• Also appreciated use of laundry facilities
Although we did not use them, it was nice that you allowed us access to the sauna, rowboat, and paddle boat. We had a great vacation. The people in the region are very nice. Thank you for sharing your home with us and for promptly returning our security deposit!

Awesome Vacation

Excellent location for access to Copper Harbor, Eagle Harbor and Eagle River. Beautiful property on a quiet lake. I suggest taking the kayaks out on the Lake to explore the shoreline and also one of the small islands. Lunch at The Lodge and pick up a map of area Bike Trails. Take a walk on a beautiful Lake Superior beach in Eagle River. Don't forget to stop for groceries in Calumet. Copper Harbor does have a small store but if you are staying for a week you will want to do a full trip in Calumet. Overall one of the best homes we have rented in a great area if you love the outdoors. Bring your Bikes!
